20:40 I love how you noticed instantly that the expression on Fern's face wasn't fear, but actually amusement. The animation here in the latest episodes is peak. Crackpot theory: Fern managed to make alter!Frieren to use her ultimate attack against her, which was only used against the Demon King lately. Fern managed to see instability is Serie's mana, which Lernen wasn't able to do, and he saw the instability in Frieren's mana, which was only done before by the Demon King (BTW, how the hell Serie knows about it when she wasn't there at that moment?). ...is Fern possibly a reincarnated Demon King is disguise? P.S. This shows how Fern is an ultimate prodigy in manipulating and detecting mana. And that makes Frieren's ultimate attack, when Fern said she couldn't sense any mana from it, even more frightening...

@@Silverhorse777 Fern had lived most of her life with Freiren. Watching Freiren suppress her mana every day, and improving every year. I think that is what makes Fern an expert at observing mana. I imagine if Serie allowed Fern to continue talking, Fern might have said something like, "Your mana is fluctuating. Freiren can do much better". Probably pissed-off Serie there... LOL >_

Serie's fluctuations of mana means she is also restraining her mana like Frieren. What we can learn in this episode is Frieren's full mana is equal to Serie's suppressed mana..

yup. You could see Serie's disappointment. She trained him for his entire life, and his lifespan is near its end, and he STILL can't tell Serie is hiding most of her mana.

Between Serie suppressing her mana and Fern detecting it, Frieren has some of the hypest moments in anime with literally 0 action, while also making me cry with the tender memories she shares with Himmel in one masterpiece of a show ❤

I'd like to point out the old man sensed Frieren's fluctuations and said it was equal to Serie's mana, but he never saw Serie's fluctuations thus didn't know Serie was also concealing her mana, that's why she was so disappointed in him.

The point that Serie says when Lernen says that Frieren's mana is a match to Serie's and Serie remarks that he never saw the fluctuations in my mana, it means that *Serie's mana when repressed* is as strong as Frieren's mana *when she's full bore* We don't know how old Serie is, but it's implied that she's literally been around since before *Human Civilization* was a thing.

After Fern is able to see the fluctuations in her mana suppression, Serie starts touching the flowers because she is reminded of Flamme probably. She's not seen that much potential in a thousand years and it excites her.

This episode was truly beautiful on many levels. What I love the most was how it was not Flamme's desire for revenge that helped Frieren beat the Demon King. It was her love for magic that lead to Demon King's downfall through teaching Frieren the flower spell.

Serie said to Fern that she could help Fern reach heights that “no other mage has ever reached”. That means Serie thinks Fern’s potential is even greater than Flamme’s. It could even mean that Serie thinks Fern has the potential to surpass even her, in at least some way.

Idk if you caught this. But the "fluctuations" in serie's mana means that she is also restraining her mana like frieren. And by that, it means that serie's suppressed mana is equal to frieren's full power mana. So you can imagine serie having more than 10 times that amount of mana in actuality. Its scary to even think about

Serie having atleast ten times Frieren's Mana is such a mindfuck, I've seen so many people subconsciously deny it. Frieren seems so impressive to us (she is don't get me wrong), but like Serie said, Frieren is "weak" for her age, due to focusing so much on surpessing her Mana. If she had spent that time focusing on training her other skills she could have been way stronger. Anyways a detail I only recently saw pointed out, Flamme gave Frieren the tool to defeat the Demon King and it's not her Mana Suppression, that didn't even work on him. No, it was the Flower Spell, it's what brought the Hero's Party together, leading to them defeating the Demon King.

Just want to add for fans. This episode ends at around chapter 58 in the manga. There is enough material for season 2 already. Manga is at chapter 127. Each episode is usually equivalent to 2 chapters. They also announced a new collection of separate stories. It sounds like one chapter is for Aura. And one chapter for Lawine and Kanne.

Serie, the tsundere 😅 ☆ "Flamme requested to guide/train humans in magic, how dare her". About a thousand years later, Serie: Founder of the Continental Magic Association ☆ "Spell to create a field of flowers...truly ridiculuous". Third stage exam in a flower garden, admiring the flowers. ☆ "Flamme, an apprentice I took on a whim". She remembers Flamme's favorite spell, reminisces Flamme after she passed away, remembers Flamme's dream, etc ☆ "I shouldn't take on human student". After Flamme, she has multiple human students and she wants to recruit human student with talent like Fern. ☆ "Surpressing mana...waste of time", Serie is supressing her mana, her mana fluctuates and Fern can see that. Next is when Serie meets Denken, Übel, Land, Methode, Wirbel.... Next is the final episode of season 1...next is beyond's journey end

Frieren didn't get the satisfaction, but she got the pleasure of explaining how the spell she decried as useless ended up saving the world. Which is worth far more than a certification that would only be good for a few hundred years.

I think you misunderstood something. Old man didn't need "years to see fluctuation". Point is that he saw it in Frieren and said that if she won't restrain her mana, she would have as much as Serie. The thing is, Serie is suppressing her mana too, but he never noticed all these years. Fern did in a first glance. So basically not restrained Frieren has as much mana as suppressed Serie.

Flamme told Frieren to suppress her mana to a tenth of her real capacity, her real capacity is equals to Series suppressed. Since Flamme was Series student it is fair to assume that Series was the one to choose that the suppression need to be to a tenth so Series has very likely ten times more mana than Frieren. Mana capacity is proportional to the time spend training it and Frieren is a subpar mage by Series judgement. Frieren is about a thousand years old so Series must be at most ten thousand but very likely less since she is more efficient with mana so closer to five to eight thousand year old depending how much more efficient she is with mana.

8:52 Did you notice. Stark is holding the skewers for Fern after she eats them. In other words, Fern has eaten more skewers than she is holding now. 9:24 I could be wrong as this is my memory, but as far as I read in the magazine, there was no such scene. Perhaps it was added when it was included in the book, or it is an anime original. It is just a minor scene, but I felt it was a good scene where Frieren's clumsy kindness is told via Richter. 18:32　You were lucky. There is nothing for Frieren to be more proud of now. She was truly blessed with good friends. 18:40 Himmel's appearance quota achieved!

we dont know if fern is really the only one who passed we didnt see all of them, we only know for sure if shes the only one next episode we didnt see übel or wirbels judment here nor dencken.
