Nicki Minaj's thrid album, the Pinkprint, was her most personal yet. On the project, she wanted to return more to her hiphop roots. Song on her previous albums like Super Bass, Pound the Alarm, Starships, and Va Va Voom helped Nicki appeal to pop fans, and have access to the same fans as Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and other pop stars. But, some critics thought her work on Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded made her more of a pop star, and not an actual rapper. Inspired by Jay-Z, Nicki wanted The PinkPrint to be a classic female hiphop record. She released her first single, Pills N Potions, was a bittersweet song about a past relationship. Several songs on the album talk about heartbreak and loss, like All Things Go, the Crying Game, and Grand Piano. Nick also has more upbeat and fun songs like Trini Dem Girls, The Night is Still Young, and 4 Door Aventador. On the songs Only and Truffle Butter, Nicki collaborated with Young Money artists Lil Wayne and Dreak. On Get On Your Knees, she collabed with Ariana Grande and in Bed of Lies, she collaborated with Skyler Gray. On Feeling Myself, she cllaborated with Beyonce. Nicki got into a slight feud with Taylor Swift after Anaconda wasn't nominated for video of the year, though Bad Blood was. They eventually resolved their conflict, though Miley inserted herself and Nicki called her out. The PinkPrint era was about Nicki getting vulnerable, and showing the world the woman behind the Barbie wigs and makeup.

Ugh the pink print was what made me fall in love with Nicki. I was in middle school when it first dropped and I just remember every day after school coming home and playing the album from start to finish while clean my room and I remember putting a whole performance in my room to the pink print. You could not tell me I wasn’t Nicki Minaj during that time hahha ❤

The Pinkprint is one of my comfort album, how can a painful experience worded beautifully, I knew Nicki is a multi-faceted artist since she released young forever, Marilyn Monroe, autobiography etc. For me Pinkprint signify her being not afraid showing her vulnerability.

The PinkPrint really is the Blue Print for every female rapper that have and will come after Nicki Minaj. My ONLY issue was the rollout. For those who didn't listen to every track on the album, they get the impression that she wasn't really going deep enough. I would've loved her more emotional songs as singles. All Things Go with a music video cause it really encapsulates her real life, Crying Game, Buy A heart (SOOO underrated , I adore that song) and for more aggressive rap, Want Some More and Shanghai.

Pink print was absolutely amazing. Crying game, grand piano, pills n potions, even Anaconda were revolutionary and are absolutely iconic. There were so many parodies and memes about Nicki and they weren’t mean they were just jokes btw. One thing I hate so much about the media is how misunderstood Nicki is. She could say anything and ppl will try to say she’s shading them or tryna get her to fight with another celebrity. The “angry black women” stereotype gets put on her 24/7 and It’s annoying and ridiculous and sadly the same thing happens to a lot of women of color in general from Cardi to Lizzo to even Doja when Doja snaps at ppl on Twitter. The drama is annoying and needs to stop. Nicki is targeted the most tho and I now understand why her social media has been so messy. They wanna label her as crazy so why not act crazy instead of fighting it. She’s over it. Hope her next album will be amazing. Still love her.

It's also in this Era that she actually started voicing her thoughts out more. She started criticizing how things are done, etc. I think this Era was actually what brought on the hate train that followed 2 years later. Nicki showed just how big she was. I also think that for most Barbs this is when the click happened, Nicki wasn't just another female rapper anymore. Her vulnerability made her someone they were willing to go to war for. Of cause most of us had seen the vulnerability before in songs like the autobiography of Onika Miraj and the behind the scenes footages but this Era was definitely one for the books

To be honest I wasn't shocked at the minimalist transformation, I was excited because I knew this era was gonna go in and be different and show the woman behind the pink wigs P.s. I think that any time a TOP female (who is on their 3rd album) has to "prove themselves", its clearly a bias or a threat in the industry

I remember it was basically the only thing I was listening to back in high school. Also I was obsessed with Only I swear I watched that video 100x a day!! Even though I never grew up saying Nicki was my favorite, I gotta be honest there was one point where I was so bored so I just curiously scrolled through this album and I genuinely think that THIS album is Nicki's Magnum Opas and I wish we got more honest and genuine songs like this. Great look back on the era! I remember I fell off a bit during this era, I can't remember exactly why, but I wasn't feeling it as much as I was her first two records. I was a huge stan since BMUS but this was a crossroads for me. I really liked that she got more emotional for pinkprint but I felt it wasn't as personal as some people make it out to be. I was craving a bit more. it was also kind of all over a place so I wish it was a bit shorter and had more consistency throughout the record.. I like Pink Friday more as a record overall...it's either second or third in her album ranking, if I were to listen and rank them now. She looked incredible though. I definitely prefer the aesthetics this era more than any other.

Wow this makes me want to search the album out.Story songs are my cat nip. I had stopped listening to the radio by this point and still use an iPod and CDs today so my music tends to skew pre-2010.I actually hear most new (to me)music through dance routines,song reactions and covers.
