Lyrics:
How can I explain
When there are few words I can choose?
How can I explain
When words get broken?
Do you remember
There was a time ahaha
When people on the street
Were walking hand in hand in hand?
They used to talk about the weather
Making plans together
Days would last forever
Come to me, cover me, hold me
Together we'll break these chains of love
Don't give up, don't give up
Together with me and my baby
Break the chains of love
Do you remember
Once upon a time
When there were open doors
An invitation to the world?
We were falling in and out with lovers
Looking out for others
Our sisters and our brothers
Come to me, cover me, hold me
Together we'll break these chains of love
Don't give up, don't give up now
Together with me and my baby
Break the chains of love
Together we'll break these chains of love
How can I explain
When there are few words I can choose?
How can I explain
When words get broken?
We used to talk about the weather
Making plans together
Days would last forever
Come to me, cover me, hold me
Together we'll break these chains of love
Don't give up, don't give up now
Together with me and my baby
Break the chains of love
Together we'll break these chains of love
Don't give up, don't give up now
Together with me and my baby
Break the chains of love
Together we'll break these chains of love
Don't give up, don't give up now
Together with me and my baby
Break the chains of love

For those who didn't live in the 80's, let me tell you...this song was "NORMAL" for the time. Yes, I know, it _blows_ away any #1 song today. Back then, songs of this quality were completely expected. The soundtrack of our lives. It was a Golden Age.

I'm 64, totally agree, the garbage passing for music today is pure crap, I had cable the day MTV began, it made some musical groups larger than life, what I learned since taking vocal lessons is the amazing quality of the singers who could sing live just like the record, I'll give you two examples: Vixen live Cologne, Germany 1991 "how much love", then Survivor "is this love" after watching the music video find Jimi Jamison singing live, exactly the same as records, finally, Scandal, type: Patty Smyth "whole lotta love" David Letterman, in fact you can type in: The Midnight Special Heart "crazy on you" Ann Wilson's voice is incredible.👋👍

Did you know this song was in answer to Clause 28 in the UK 🇬🇧? Made it illegal to "promote homosexuality." Late 1980's demonstrations to "Stop the Clause" all over Britain and some other countries in solidarity such like here in US. I was in College I had a friend doing year abroad at Swansea in Wales that year she sent me a placard 🪧: " We demand the right to learn and to educate without fear." Andy Bell being an out gay man in that time was a very big deal we did not have many to look up to. Erasure's cover of Solsbury Hill is not to be sneezed at either 🤧.

Rhyan Chalmers Okay, don't need to get so worked up over a little humorous comment. I know he purposefully made it a copyright deadlock. I said IF, which is entirely dependent on multiple different things. Also, wouldn't artists receiving money on copyright claims of their song be dependent on their contract? They could've sold all rights and ownership of the song I suppose but is there a way to know that?
@Axisoflords
@Axisoflords 8 лет назад
GamerZakh Sadly no, when it comes to the music industry, any and all copyright claims and royalties, go to the artist's publishers. I wish it were the artists getting the money, but the contracts they sign, can do more bad than good. I love this band, at least Jim Sterling gave them exposure, as late as it may be.

That's because it's good. If you weren't born in my time. I'm really sorry what's out now is an embarrassement and I feel for your generation. My son is a Gen Z kid and he detests anything mainstream. My kid insists on listening to 60s, 70s, 80s, and the 90s. He tells me it isn't fair how much garbage is out there and I don't blame him. Sending you a virtual hug and high fiving you because your a cool man! Check out Greta Van Fleet if you want to hear a modern band thst sounds like Zepplin only better. I think the video platforms are now where good music (even new) are living.

As one who spent his teens and early twenties with Erasure as a staple, this was an interesting selection to be included in part two of *Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.* I can only hope that young viewers will enjoy them for the whimsy, high camp, and, dare I say, brilliance that is Erasure.
