That lady asked him in the end to play All by my self "as we say goodbye" and she finishes with the phrase " Thank you so much for being with us" ...What a farewell, knowing today that now he's gone...Thank you indeed for being with us, Eric Carmen😢😢😢
It's so hard to believe the incredible Eric Carmen is gone. I loved his music. I was blessed to be able to see him in concert a few times. He was a fantastic singer and songwriter, a beautiful voice. Plus, he was gorgeous. I'm gonna miss him so much. Love You, Eric, always. Rest in peace, beautiful and sweet soul 🌹🙏
Such a sweet sweet man, that smile, the shyness...The world lost a great musician but also, and above all, a gentle soul... So sad, we miss him already.❤😢
Absolutely,...He is a very articulate gentleman, and has an excellent command of the English language. It's such a sad state of affairs that today's youth are unable to carry out a conversation without using expletives to express themselves. I blame that on the sorry state of our public education system.
Eric Carmen and Barry Manilow really brought the the piano to the fore in the musically diversified 70s. What a great era for SO MANY genres of music. An exciting time to be young and alive, full of so many enriching experiences!
Now that Eric is gone, kindly don't forget how much he was mocked in the press and by half of America when he went and had a lot of plastic surgery, started drinking heavily in a downward personal tailspin and lived in a weird kind of anonymity. Then, when he came out in support of Donald Trump, he was cancelled by virtually everyone who suddenly misses him so deeply.. Don't forget the pain he endured a lot in the past 10 years. Don't forget.
Yes, to a non-American fan like myself, this sudden outpouring of love seems almost like too little, too late. 😢 He needed the support while he was still with us. Goodbye gorgeous man❤
I'm a fan from Europe and I didn't know all this information before his death. He was definitely not treated well and I think he was outcast as early as the 80's, before the events you mention. I don't know the reasons, maybe he wasn't that sociable...If anyone knows more details please let us know. Love comes from exactly that, that is, you realize that such a great artist was unfairly left on the sidelines...
@e.p.3569 He appeared to be just as smart as he was good looking. Maybe that worked against him. It's a shame, because he was a very talented musician.
I lost my first love when this song played. I also lost all my friends who warned me if I went back to her, they wouldn't be my friends any more. I was age 18. I cried my eyes out alone in my room for 6 months. It was the first time that I was truly all by myself. It was so painful and I felt so helpless.
Thank you for sharing....this video solidified what I had always suspected that he was extremely talented, and his vocals, lyrics, and his musical gift was so brilliant...songs like his will last forever. So wonderful to hear such a talent in this era lacking talent.
Eric Carmen a down-to-earth American guy that possesses a huge talent as a singer/songwriter. My wife listens to his recordings all the time and their classics.
Back when you could be a majorly talented musician/singer/songwriter and have hugely popular hit songs. Damn. Plus, he's down-to-earth and humble. Awesome guy. Eric Carmen, everybody! 🎤🎵🎶🎼🎹🎸
Wow do I feel my age. I remember this. Been a fan since age 13 and Never grew outta of loving him and his band Very articulate man. Oh the memories ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Eric your songwriting and humility will never be forgotten. When we are all gone your music will still be here entertaining your fans. Your music was always heartfelt and meaningful. Thank you from a fan RIP 🙏
My fellow Clevelander! I've liked a lot of different musicians but Eric Carmen was special to me because he's from my neck of the woods. Most of the locals here don't get very far but he beat those odds.
I absolutely LOVE how he says "disgusting!" romantic guy...anyone who knows and loves the Raspberries knows that hooking up with the girl sexually was the central focus of 80% of their songs, lol. Gotta love the candor and honesty!
A huge fan of your musical career, Not a Good Morning today (hearing the news of his passing) Thank You for bringing great joy and happiness in your music for myself and many Your music will continue to live on R.I.P.
3:31at that moment, I'm sure there were more than a few people across the country probably started softly singing "all byyyy my-self...", if not out loud, at least in their heads. You never forget how a song like that makes you feel.
This takes me back!! I Love Eric Carmen! I have the 45s and 2 LP that I purchased in Jr high! Funny thing is I didn't know he was part of the Rasberries, my older sister listen to them. BTW this was a very nice interview, it was interesting, not about the drama. Thanks for posting.
thanx for the "all by yourself" song, which gives people the motivation to join assisted living places to avoid becoming isolated in old age that can be hazardous to elderly people.
"Almost Paradise" is the tune Eric is playing at the beginning of the segment...he co-wrote that song with Dean Pitchford...another gem from Eric! You're so right- he' a cool guy!
Anyone who uses Rachmaninov's music in his songs is great in my book. And when on top of that he is eloquent and romantic, he has me as loyal fan til the end of time.
@@marcanthony6144 What are you asking about? You don't know who Rachmaninov was? And Manilow used Chopin in one of his songs, the difference is, Eric was actually a concert pianist with classical musician education and Manilow was not.
Every song he’s written has classical underpinnings - if you listen very closely, they are there. Sometimes in the harmonization or the counterpoint going on in the instrumentation! 👍🏻❤️🎶
I love his song I am through with love.... All by myself .... masterpiece is by genius,,,,, when i was highschool, listen the music on the street first time. I have never forget the feeling .....
Eric Carmen said the following -" "All By Myself" and "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" were inspired by different Rachmaninoff pieces. I think for "Never Gonna Fall In Love Again" , the theme for the chorus was from Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony, whereas the theme for the verse of "All By Myself" was from Rachmaninoff's second Piano Concerto No. 3. You know, I think I used up most of his good stuff, but I'm always still looking. When I was reading a biography of Rachmaninoff, I found that both melodies that I had taken he had actually gotten from other sources. One he heard from an Italian organ grinder playing, and the other a friend gave him. I thought, geez, what a nice friend." 1997
Would have been great to hear that he put the boots to Joan. She was in many ways holding back her desire to just grab him but knew the cameras were rolling. So talented and enjoyed this clip.
He wrote this song at twelve! Amazing, I love it and I love Eric Carmen. I bet that I would have been crazy about him if I had the same age. He is the kind of man that girls dream of...❤ So sad he's gone
I was a huge fan of Eric Carmen's music when he released All By Myself. While I was humming with it I realized that it was inspired from Rach II and I thought even Rach would have loved Eric's songs.
