What a great surprise to hear 'You Were There" included in the set. Not sure he's ever done that live. And as the band brought it to what sounded to be a close, and I'm thinking 'Eric HAS to take the outro solo', sure enough God makes his presence felt.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful concert. I am 76 years old and my wife and I have seen him in live concerts from Cream to Blind Faith to the present time for 56 years and over 35 concerts. He is a true legend and still has the feeling in his guitar playing and solos. I love his music most at The Royal Albert Hall concerts. Thank you again from New Jersey U. S. A..
Best I've heard him play for a while that. EC will be 80 next March. He can still play those little runs of notes that are filled with so much feeling. He is a legend.
Agreed. Saw him at Hyde Park around 2018; and just before COVID hit at the Royal Marsden charity gig. Both times I thought he was a bit pedestrian - he just didn't fly with his playing. However, this tour he def has his fire back. Those moments when he's lost in his playing - THAT'S what I paid for my ticket to experience.
I was there with my wife x it was an emotional night for me as me and my dad are red hot Clapton fans, but he passed last year so it was the first one without him. Big thank you to the arena and the engineers - amazing sound. The set list was amazing and Andy was a great support and Eric’s band cooked. Eric - u were amazing ! So much feel u still have x
32:54 is such a wholesome moment. Eric saying "I love you too" when someone yelled "I love you Eric" in the audience. He doesn't usually do that. In fact he's been smiling and showing more positive emotion than usual from what I've seen and heard about this tour so far. Eric must be really enjoying/looking forward to his touring this year. This is all very nice to know. He may be 79 but the passion and love for music hasn't left him yet and won't for a long time still I'm sure. God bless you Eric.
You are completely right. I don't think he has ever done that from what I've heard. I think he is definitely softening somewhat recently! Most of the times I have seen him he just says "Thank You!" 😂
It’s weird, because a lot of people have slagged him on this tour, for not really engaging with the audience. I was there in Liverpool and he seemed really happy to be there 🤷🏼
@@mrsoul4231 A lot of people have just slagged this tour in general for stupid reasons unfortunaty, so I'm not surprised. But hey, us true fans are always their supporting him and that's all that matters
Always a great guitarist, but at 80, his singing voice hasn't deteriorated at all, awsesome. Thanks for the video, in Western Australia, you guys are so lucky.
Do we even know why? Is it definitive? This is going to be my first EC concert and I was expeting I Shot The Sheriff and Layla so much... Born way too late
Loved Got to get better ! Brings me back to 1970 when I seen Derek and the Dominos at the Fillmore east. They recorded that show . Derek and the Dominos live !
Fantastic show, wish You'll Never Walk Alone were a little longer but In The Presence of the Lord is one my all time faves. Hope we get the Crossroads 2023 Official release soon🎸💎🔥👏👌☘️
❤ with this line up of songs Change the World, Holy Mother, My Father's Eyes, and River of Tears could be added. Some of my favorite songs but anything that Eric and his long time band play is good for me ❤ Forever Fan ♥
Thanks for posting this 👍 Was there last night and just enjoyed watching it all again. Great to see him, all the hits and a bit of chat would have been even more appreciated. But I'm not complaining, saw Clapton! Band were great, my lad particularly like the Hammond organ guy 👍
A bit of chat is the most you'll ever get from Eric, but that's fine :) Hammond guy is Tim Carmen. Look up Eric's Crossroads gig from 1999, particularly Old Love, for some more of Tim's style 👍
Less talking = more music, perhaps but the comment goes to show how a few words can sometimes make a real difference to how fans feel an artist connects with an audience (or not). Eric never was one for saying much between songs. He’s always very forthcoming in interviews - maybe he’s just very focused on doing the job in front of him 🤔
Saw him at Birmingham last night. Clapton has got his fire back!! 😊😊. Great to experience a number of moments when he was lost in his playing - that trademark closed eyes, looking upwards. I guess we will all have our disappointments re songs not played. For me - Layla (electric); I Shot - which was in his US setlist; and Cant Find My Way Home, feat Nathan East. But - a great surprise to hear 'You Were There' in the set. Superb band - who deftly took some nice exteneded jams. As for Sonny in drums - that guy is a monster behind the kit and added something quite different to some numbers espy.
Awesome. I'm a big fan. I didn't know Eric played maybe OM custom in live. Stunning. I like OM. I wanted to see Steve Gadd drums solo when I went to his Live.
I was hoping for Gadd as well - but boy, Sonny didn't disappoint. Brought a very distinctive heavy beat to some of the numbers which really added something extra.
@@steverussell8804 Thank u. I wasn't disappointed. I mean I couldn't see Steve drums solo when I went to EC Live twice. U know Gadd is one of the best drummer ever .
That's verry rare! He played "BACK HOME" I love this one! and he used OOO45? I bought the same type OOO45 in costom. Thanks ! Eric! I'm making an effort to be able to play this song!
iPhone 11 in my hand with elbow on my knee. I just line up a couple of lights or whatever and then watch the show and only glance at the phone every so often to make sure I’m not recording the ceiling. I’m going to see the show but record it so I can rewatch and share with others
I was at the Blind Faith Hyde Park concert Yes it was a hot day and the Edgar Broughton band were the warm up (who remembers out demons out). It was a grat show. We were about 10rows back. EC is still the best and still going strong - long may it continue
Nice to see these old Geezers touring still (including the Rolling Stones). Didn't EC have arthritis in his hands preventing him from playing much guitar? I thought I remember hearing something about that a few years ago.
Palestine Strat, this disapppoints me. His Song for Gaza too. WHO startet the Attack? Hamas. They killed over 1200 jewish people in such a cruel way. Hamas hides behind civil people in Gaza. The accuse that Israel is doing genocide in Gaza ist wrong. The Numbers of killed civil people are from Hamas and they lie. WHO askes for the hostages that are still captured from Hamas? Why has Eric not played a song for the hostages? The real neighbourhood Bully is Hamas not Israel. Imagine your neighbour still Likes to kill you all the time. What will you do? Israel occupied not the country, they came back as prophesized in the Book of Ezekiel chapter 37. Since 70 AC there lived Jews in Israel, so the all time lie that they conquered Palestine ist wrong. Sorry for disturbing your conversation about music, but I'm so deeply disappointed.😔
I was at this gig and was also disappointed he didn't play Layla, I heard it's because Pattie Boyd had recently sold the love letters he had wrote to her all those years ago. @@vpking77
Exactly my approach. Phone in hand, elbow propped on knee, line up a couple of lights or something, then sit back and enjoy the show. Just have to glance at the phone every so often to make sure it’s still lined up. Easy, and we all get to relive it as many times as we want 🤷♂️
@@JackFieldBand ask Netanyaho. Israel doesn't care about the hostages, they only care about ethnically cleansing the Palestinians to have more land. When Netanyaho cares about the hostages, he will sit down to negotiate to bring them home.
Mr. Clapton, people come from all over the world to listen to your music at your concert. Can you please put your political ideas at home or announce them when you start to sell the tickets!
You are such a disappointment…after years of following you it’s seems you decided to be a small politician without really understand the issue…what a shame what a disappointment!! It seems Eric Clapton became the new Roger Waters
Hey sweet guy (guy zucker), you're wrong; people finally are making the distinction between zionism and Judaism - even some average jews -, that's all. They're just waking up to the zionists' lies and propaganda.
He actually did 7 hits/well known songs. Even if he did only do 4 hits, still, that's 4 hits. At least he's doing hits. He has been doing I Shot the Sheriff and Layla for so long and its always healthy to switch up the setlist and keep it fresh. If he did no hits/well known songs then fair enough yeah the setlist would suck, but like Presence of the Lord (which is a rare one), Badge, Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out, Tears in Heaven, Got to Get Better in a Little While, Crossroads and Cocaine I mean mate he did a good amount of hits/well known songs. That's like half the setlist
I’ve lost respect for him . Keep politics out of it ! I’ve watched him many times over the years , from 1968, but never again. His guitar in the colours of “ Palestine “ , forgetting the terrorist attacks on 7 th October . I’m sure the hamas terrorists will be very pleased with him.
