@@NoLefTurnUnStoned. I think I'm pretty well qualified to make my above comment. Those finger picking bluegrass player are phenomenal.Blues based rock guitarist are over rated.
@@jsamc Well, at least you think you're well qualified... Funny you mention finger picking bluegrass because I play it...and it is phenomenal, but it's an art form, not a sport or in a competition with blues/rock/jazz/r'n'b/soul/funk/fusion etc. You think Jeff Beck - Eric Gales - Dave Gilmour - are overrated? Blues based rock guitarists like them cut their teeth listening to and copying bluegrass and delta blues. (And Hendrix) And I can tell you first hand that very few bluegrass players can do what they do - and vice versa - and the same applies to classical players. Great musicians are great because of "feel" and innovation - not just technical speed and complexity.
Absolutely amazing talent on that stage! I’ve seen Gary Clarke Jr play this live. Eric Gales is a powerhouse and has never gotten the respect that he deserves as one of the greatest guitarists of our lifetime.
Because this world is into physical beauty ! If Eric looked androgynous he'd be a Super Star ! Eric is blood sweat grit funk and dirty fingernails ... he ain't pretty but he's beautiful ! He Real !
Those are the kind of shows I live for. A musician or band with killer talent on tour at small clubs, and they play their hearts out because that's what they do. It's all about the music, not the glitter and attention. Thanks for reminding me of shows like yours.
I would suggest to everyone, especially if you like blues-rock or Jimi Hendrix +, to listen to his body of work. He doesn’t have a bad, okay or so so album. They are all meaty and full. One can’t say that about many artists. Often their development has a trajectory of maturity in voice or mastery of their instrument. No, Eric seems to have blasted out of the gate and never throttled back. Pick a track off any album over the years and you will not be disappointed.
@UCvduiP52YDkk7t0yI9E9SCw And yet Justin Bieber went platinum. Eric Gales Picture of A Thousand Faces is a monster album and I'll put Eric up against anyone, anytime. And remember, fuck Joke Bidet and fuck you for voting for it.
You know how absolutely insane and absorbed when you automatically start weaving and bobbing and shaking back and forth uncontrollablly with Eric as he's soloing!!!!!! Totally outrageous 🤩
We Love The Greater Gales Family in The Delta. Arkansas Mississippi. Love ya E. Always been a gentleman. Thanks for letting me borrow Tennessee for a bit!! Love me some Tennessee! Amen. THJ
Agreed, that lame corny garbage he droppee with Joe "Wonder Bread" Bonnamassa the other week as me not looking forward to that album at all. Straight elevator music.
Eric was a great Choice by Gary, knowing Eric's entire family are nothing but prodigy's. His brother Manuel was the guy who taught me to just put the guitar down and finish school cause I would never be nearly as great as he was.....lol He didnt have to say it, he just played fills so well it defied all logic. I swear this family had such a gift and an ear for anything one could assume their almost not human. So good to see Eric back at it and feeling well and playing with perfection it warms my soul.
Likely to catch Chris Gales and/or other Gales kin playing somewhere on Beale Street any day of the week any week of the year. Some amazing talent in that family....
I've been fortunate enough to see Eric a few times at a local blues festival and I've been blown away every time. The first time, I couldn't believe I had never heard of him before. Definitely a shame he isn't a household name. Almost like blues' best kept secret. Amazing guy with an inspirational story and unmatched guitar skills. 🎸🔥
Holy sh*t 🔥 that was fire! Just saw GCJr in Atlantic City last weekend… Incredible. He has said Eric Gales is the best living player. I loved seeing them together. Gales is phenomenal. They both are. 🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶
There are quite a few elite guitar players these days, very few are as interesting and intuitive as Eric Gales, he is just a phenomenal conduit for rock and blues.
I was at this show. I had hoped Gary would do This Land in his encore, but we were treated to this instead. It was amazing. No disappointment in not hearing This Land. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to.
You have to love Gary's disposition in this performance. You can tell the reverance is there for a true Master. And also knowledge to be able to discreetly with a chord redirect him as we all know he needs sometimes. Like, Mr. Eric you know the theater closes in 20 minutes...... 😏🎸
2 geniuses at the top of their game, Gary is the pure iceman, I would have loved to have been there to experience the true Audio meltdown they must have blessed the crowd with, Eric is the eternal mad axeman, always a pleasure. Thanks @80ryans from Co. Kerry.
That was awesome! Eric is the King! He really should have a much bigger stage than the smaller places he plays. But better for me to follow him. 💜to LaDonna
Yeah, the only good part about Eric not being recognized as one of the most prolific guitarists on earth is that we can catch him in a bar from time to time. The poor guys gone through so much. He should not have to worry about bills.
Well hot damn that boy got da feels. I was reading comments while the song played, thinking okay he's probably pretty good by all the compliments he's getting. But I was still going wtf even though I had been warned. That dude is for real.
These two gentlemen are amongst the only true blues rock players right now, compare them to anyone out right now especially that are giging and doing their thing live, there's no one out there putting this kind of music back on the map for young people of today. Incredible musicians isn't even a good statement to describe them both...🤙🍺🍺
I might put Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Jonny Lang and Tab Benoit in that same group and the two folks in the video would say the same.
@@RagggedTrouseredPhilanthropist Oh yeah! Didn't mean to leave him out. Definitely belongs in that group and I am sure there are a few mors that I am skipping over i.e.: Josh Smith ....
He's actually not. That's the crazy part. His brother taught him to play the guitar upside down because his brother was left handed and he's just always played that way.
I love how Gary eggs Eric on then Eric unselfishly brings Gary back in to show Gary is no slouch either and the two just take it up and up. If GCJ had more of this in his live music I'd love it.
That was crazy awesome those guys are unbelievable such amazing guitarists and talented musicians!! Thanks for posting this video great quality and great sound!!
Not that Eric Gales has ever had an issue "playing out", but having seen many live videos, I get the impression he was feeling some fresh inspiration playing with GC's band. It doesn't hurt he is coming off some quality time with Joe Bonamassa in the studio, but they are contemporaries and I do not hear a lot of change in his playing as a result. It will be interesting to hear Eric's new album with what I expect to be stronger song construction and melody. I am hoping to hear a leap forward in where he jumps off for his solos. I really like his playing, but at times it feels like a show is a solo with almost unrelated songs interspersed. That is probably overly harsh, but it conveys my excitement to hear Eric was open with collaborating with Joe in the studio.
