Amazing Performance by Gary Clark Jr. at Glastonbury, 26 June 2016 Ad disclaimer: I’m not running the super annoying ads. The label does, I have no say about that. The label also gets 100% of the ad revenue.
I want to give a shout out to the rhythm guitarist for that build up and sustain during the peak of Gary's solo, and knowing when to come down. Really nice work.
I m an Indian, never been to America but don't know why , listening to blues makes me feel I may have lived in Southern part of the United States in my past life. That's the beauty of music, it unites you and connects you. Long live music!!!
It feels like your blood pulsing you veins Great talent will do that no matter where it is from When we still had tails and slithered out of the water this was what we heard
I dig it, yet still a semi- tragic irony, that today's BLUES greats are more appreciated and attended across the pond, than in U.S.A. Just like in the 60's. Wake up people, the best artists are not on your TV sets. They are at your Blues Festivals. Support them.
This is probably the best version of the solo but you should definitely check the surfer lodge performance. It’s rusty at first but he really picked it up
@@clivesnell Totally. I would say Audiences in the UK are more enthusiastic. They love to sing along and support the band, they just seem more engaged, they’re thankful for them music. Whereas audiences here in the states are more placid. They rather look at the little pixelated musicians on their phone as it records what’s happening right in front of them.
This guy is such an underrated guitarist. Probably not as technically gifted as a lot of other guitarist but definitely has better feel than most people. He’s playing with his soul right now
There a few guys out there that can precisely copy someone else's major hit, but they don't have any soul or their own personality and sound gone into it. If you take out the old legends still playing, for guitarists under 45 there is only Gary Clark Jr and Derek Trucks at the top. IMO there are passable players, but not in these two's league.
Screw technicality’s…. We were made to break the so-called norm rules!!! If you have your own 🧠 that is! Your soul and brain.. one of the few things you can’t replace. Like you can everything else….
He knows exactly what and how to play to make Garys solo sound as good as possible, it's so beautiful to watch. Same goes for the drums and bass, this guy has a great supporting cast. You can tell they have good chemistry too
Easy pal. It’s an amazing performance but let’s not get too carried away.. Every Hendrix performance and Santanas Soul Sacrifice are one of the best ever performances
@@ByGraceThroughFaith777 been playing guitar for a good bit. Before I started playing I thought any guitar solo was super impressive, probably would think this is crazy good if I didn’t play. That’s being said, Gary Clark is fine, but there are a million more impressive live guitar performances out there than this.
I'd swim across the Alsea River....and walk in the rain...to hear you sing about your train....This old lady loves your blues! I hope your most amazing dreams come true.
@@mudauvhadau170 it's good to have you there. Our next mission is to defeat the enemies of true humanity and I would recommend you peruse the works of Vandana Shiva. Communications to follow, in love truth and justice - war on error.
how his lead can somehow sound simultaneously dirty, clean, expressive, aggressive and delicate all at the same time is pretty amazing... great tone / playing
Nuance, ambiance, experience, simplicity, depth, and SOUL sent to convey....whatever it is this conveys to each individual blest enough to experience this..... GARY CLARK JR. THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU...."NO HOMO~MY BRO"....YOUR SPIRIT SHINES THROUGH TO HELP US ALL....YOU ARE A BEACON AND A DEACON TO US WHO WALK THIS LIFE EXPERIENCE. THANK YOU, SIR, AGAIN AND ALL WAYS.
Omg …. I’m in love!! Sings, plays guitar, and sings the blues!!! I love blues. It’s my go to music. I love playing and singing blues music , but man after listening to Gary, I think I need to learn again!! I tried to follow his fingers and couldn’t even come close to catching up!! This guy is the real deal!!! I’d buy anything he puts out!! I’ve been playing music all my life and you have to feel the blues in order to do it justice!! He just blew the top off that arena!!! WOW!!!!
@@fancychannelname he is not Jimi...he is Gary and he is exceptional in the lane that he has created for himself. True there will never be another Jimi, like their will never be another Prince or Michael. Those are legends. However, this man is great at his craft
Love how he generates the ambulance sounds right off the solo at 9:15 giving the song depth, especially since it deals heavily with depression and suicidal thoughts.
Damn never thought of that part of the guitar solo as ambulance noises that connect to the meaning of the song, really does give the song depth. Thank you for sharing :)
The ol’ tri-tones. I remember my high school band instructor explaining those as the forbidden intervals, as they rarely sound good and are supposed to be off-putting to our ears, that’s why fire and police sirens use them. This is the only time they work, in a crazy transcendent solo
I remember growing up watching my extremely talented older brother play guitar, and I would stand and try to talk to him, and he would just stare right through me like I wasn't there - in the trance... :)
Holy Jesus Christ! I don't know why I've only just discovered this guy but he is incredible. I lost count of how many times I got goosebumps watching this magician on display.
Odell Mateo just discovered him today (heard of him just never listened) now i’m binging every album and youtube performance. He’s tremendous! What a talent
Just thought I'd add (what I haven't seen anybody mention here) how the camera work adds to the drama of the piece. I love the music, I'm a big fan of GC Jr. and this is a brilliant rendition, but KUDOS to the camera crew and the editors for an amazing job of capturing the energy, passion and emotion.
@John Cronin 2 weeks agoReality check, this guy is average at best, no offence though, take a listen to this blues track >>>>>>>>> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-P7rQp9kt-M4.html Gary Moore Live - Only a Fool Will Never Learn .!!!!
@@trac3y160 fuck yea bro. I'm down here in H town. This man just brings that Texas fuckin blues. None other like it. Seeing him here down in Houston NOV 30th. Cant fuckin WAIT!!
My brother taught himself to play guitar when he was in high school. He went to college and became a veterinarian. Now that he's retired he picked up that guitar again and loves Gary Clark jr. Thanks to his little sister forgiving him a heads up on one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. His soul is in every song he plays thank you Gary
@@serenityinside1 IKR I keep trying and I just hear some guy who isnt that good. Not trying to be a dick, this guy pales to any of the greats. His vibrato is OK, thats about all I can say
I love how his bassist just looks at him at one point and you can just see the awe in his facial expression as Gary just makes that guitar cry. Love it!
This is what music has been missing for years. “REAL TALENT” it doesn’t matter if it’s perfect. What matters most is that you make the people watching feel your soul. Keep doing you Mr. Gary Clark Jr. for the world and music fans like me and the 1000s of others that are fortunate enough to hear you and your band play.
I thought that the Gods had abandoned us, but listening to this I think that the spirit of Hendrix lives on. Congratulations to the musician for keeping our hope alive.
I never even heard of this guy until about an hour ago when I saw Joe Rogan refer to him in his podcast (with guest, Edward Norton)... Wow... maybe I'll have more words later... but for right now, just... wow.
Gary is amazing. While you may not be as creative, you could learn everything he does a couple weeks with RU-vid. It's all e minor pentatonic work. might be the first scale we all have learned. Now being a lot to create this yourself is a whole different story.
@@benjaminvillarreal1499 I’m 40 and just now trying to pick up a guitar. To say it’s been rough would be a huge understatement. Especially with these sausage fingers. 😂 but thanks for the words of encouragement. Seriously.
Never heard a single song by the man in my life, now I’m glad I clicked on the video. Love the vibe he creates, it’s like a smooth crunch sound and I love it
Met him in Downtown Austin just hanging out, a week after seeing him play at Antone’s with Doyle Bramhall. He was so cool. That was ten years ago. Now he’s the man. If you haven’t heard of them, you should check out Arc Angels. Just a suggestion. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EVhN9pOKgCk.html
Excellent guitar solo against the backdrop of a brilliant band. Everything's right, everything. I wish I could fly away playing the instrument, it's a beautiful moment.
I don't think I've ever seen a clip of Gary Clark playing that great. He's always written amazing tunes, and done unique covers, but damn that was probably one of the best solos I have heard out of anyone who was playing live.
Ok, it's been quite a few years since this dude started getting down! Used to sneek into Austin City Limits... with an X on his hand so he couldn't drink... backing blues men at 13... One man band himself, look it up! His drummer and bassist have been by his side since day one... and the new glue, yes you guys got the rhythm! Gary is a phenomenon !!! Gary can do it all!
I am literally tearing up every time he sings "I can't take it no more". And then this amazing solo with so much pain and frustration. I don't think I can listen to other songs ever again 😳
yeah buddy - that "I can't take it no more" - simultaneously makes me think "my god i feel you man" and say "thats a bad motherfucker..." at the same damn time.
Thanks for this beauty performance !!! This is damn good Texas rockin' blues - with some Jimi Hendrix top-notch feeling !!! Thank-you Gary Clark Jr. and band 👍👍👍
I remember as kids my sister and I used to laugh at my brother pulling faces when playing the guitar. In his bedroom! It’s when you lose yourself to the instrument and nothing else matters.
Ooh lordy Sweet Jesus! Just witnessed a miracle and I think I like it! I saw a reincarnation of Jimi Hendrix, Robert Johnson, James Brown, BB King, Prince and Curtis Mayfield..... that was one heck of a performance! Magnum Opus Gary Clark Jr ! 🙌🏾👊🏿🔥💥
Best version of this song, in my opinion. Gary gives his everything as he Glides through this song! Every version I've seen of this song, the solo is different, yet mind-blowing, yet, H, (Gary), is at ease, grooving and looks completely natural. He makes it look so easy! An Amazing Blues Guitarist, musician, Artist! Thank You Gary!
