Something similar happened to me. I was forced out of the closet and was looked at like I was "sick". I was forced off the praise team and was made to "talk" with the youth pastor who basically just told me that I am wrong for who I love and was constantly judged. Luckily, I left that place and am on a praise team at a different church now but I am still extremely afraid of coming out because of the trauma of the last church.

That is horrible!!! There are so many churches that open their arms and hearts to the LGBTQ community. Love is love regardless of what shape, form or fashion it comes in. Some of the best people I have known in my life were gay men and women. Some are no longer here but I refuse to believe that my God didn't except them for who they are. I am not gay but I will forever be a supporter of the LGBTQ community because y'all deserve love and peace just like everyone else!!!!!

@@jamiewhite2548 it was a really hard experience! Small towns are NOT welcoming. Landlords treat tenants unfairly. Kids yell profane things out their windows or drive around the block over and over and yell profane things as they pass by houses and apartments. I can't believe this kind of hate really lives still today. There are so many others out there suffering I'm so confused by the amount of darkness that walks this earth. Adultery is a sin because it hurts your wife. Being LGBTQ hurts no one. The greatest commandment is to love God and your neighbor, and love does not hurt your neighbors. You can't be anti LGBTQ and love your queer neighbors at the same time. Therefore, you can't show the love of God while being anti LGBTQ. Being anti LGBTQ is a sin because it causes harm. It leads to depression, broken families, and even death.

I am speaking from both a Christian perspective as well as someone with same sex attraction. I cannot say former homosexual because I still have the same attraction, I just do not act on it. It is my cross to bare just as Jesus took up his cross and walked. I have surrendered the lifestyle and my attraction to the Lord. I have. Reading this comment prompted my spirit to speak and not sit back silent. I believe the Word of God with all my heart. Which is why I was convicted to leave the lifestyle in the first place. I’ve done exactly what she said in her song, I fasted I prayed I meditated, I read my word daily asking God to take away the feelings. Sometimes it felt like he did, until I tried to date men and I was just not at all attracted to them. I had some attraction, but it wasn’t an attraction that would allow for true intimacy at many levels, not just the physical one. However, I noticed that when my focus was on bettering my relationship with God and bettering myself in general, as opposed to a non-relationship/relationship with another person, I didn’t struggle at all.. I actually loss attraction for everyone. I would not call this deliverance. But Paul writes “I wish that all men could be as I am (celibate and without partner) but each man has his own gift…. For those who marry will have worldly troubles…“I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband. I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭..-‭35‬ ‭ESV‬‬ I believe that I experience periods of undivided devotion to the Lord and so I lose interest in cultivating deeper relationships with humans in general. But is this sustainable? I would say yes, we know it is because Paul himself has done it. And Paul even pleaded with God three times to take the thorn from his flesh (we don’t know what Paul’s thorn was) in which God responded “my grace is sufficient. I’m not saying that all homosexuals need to practice celibacy and aloneness, no, what I am saying is that we should focus more on our relationship with God then a relationship with anyone else. Homosexual and heterosexual desire would be less noticeable and less of a struggle. However, do not take this as a jab towards same sex attracted individuals. What our Bible now says is homosexual, the original translation said boy molesters.. so, let that sink in. However, I cannot deny God’s original intention for mankind because he created us two separate genders for a reason. But we all know that perversion, meaning any deviation from original intention, set in once sin entered the world, hence as to why God permits us to eat animals now and not just fruits and veggies, hence as to why people are born with deformities and ailments beyond comprehension. So could it be possible for someone to be born a different sexual orientation? I believe so with every fiber in my being. Do we tell people born with deformities that they need to change? That they need to be born again? That they should surrender their deformity over to God and be healed and become “regular?” No, we do not. I think there are certain things in this world that we don’t understand because we have always viewed from a certain lens (the lens that was giving to us a very very very long time ago). I don’t condone sexual immorality, so this means I don’t believe in having sexual relations with more than one person, I don’t believe in having sex outside of marriage and I believe that sex outside of marriage, incest and sex with children is wrong. Heterosexuals do most of what I mentioned above and no one goes around telling everyone that fornication is wrong and you need to repent and never do it again. Fornication is actually promoted and “justified” by society, yet it is sexual immorality still. So the next time you think about commenting or judging someone in a lifestyle unlike yours, I would say to first examine yourself.. because there isn’t really much difference from a homosexual lifestyle to a heterosexual one. Provide grace.. that’s what God does. Whether you believe it is sin or not.. the focus should be on cultivating a better relationship with Christ, not the person’s perceived sin. Because honestly.. you really don’t know the relationship that person has with God. We need to free same sex attracted believers from our personal bondage and allow them to be Christ followers just as we would encourage anyone else to be.
