Glad to see everything is OK! (Almost every Tuesday! And occasionally longer 😉)

Thanks for watching EVERY Tuesday. We had been in the Everglades with zippo service of any kind. We planned on arriving at our campground on Tuesday and uploading the vid. 5 hrs. later it was only at 6% uploaded. Thus, the dreaded Wednesday upload at a McDonald's (fastest WiFi on the road...).

Hi Mike! It was great meeting you guys as well. We made it up to Vermont and will be documenting our Florida travels in the future. We are planning a separate video for the snow park. Safe travels and we hope to see you down the road again someday.

Thanks for posting. The communication between the lift bridge control tower and the vessel was kinda a Top Gun moment. Too back it wasn’t a request for a fly by!

Thanks Mike. I should have dropped a $20 to the bridge attendant on the way out so that he would respond to me inbound "Negative Canandaigua, the pattern is full".

I've cruised the Erie Canal twice with the same boats, when they were owned by Mid Lakes Navigation. So easy to manage and such fun. We loved Fairport and Spencerport. Your video was spot on and lots of fun!

Thanks for watching and the nice comment. The bow thruster made handling the vessel super easy! Our only wish was that we could have done it longer!

We had a boat in the California Delta and ALWAYS had a water filter and surge protector. Currently we are in Florida and looking for our next boat after RVing full time for two years. When we sold it we kept the water filter system and will replace the surge protector that went with the RV when we sold it. Thank you for sharing your experience and adventure.

Thanks for watching and commenting on your surge and filter use. We had a 36' Beneteau Center Cockpit for 3 years and always wondered why most boaters were different than RV'ers.

Not all boats have "city water" connections but many do that bypass the tanks, particularly higher end boats.
@LuvSubbin

Thanks for watching! You are very correct. Our 36' Beneteau Oceanis CC did not have a city water connection which initially confused us.

Enjoyed the videos! 😊 I’ve done the Trent-Severn waterway in Ontario. Well my parents had a cottage on a lake connecting to the waterway. At Big Chute. With a 14’ boat and a 25hp it was all smooth sailing. Never saw that much debris in a lock even in spring. My sis and her bf wanted to trailer my boat to the Erie Canal I said noooo. They did part of the St Lawrence seaway with it though. If I ever have my wish it’s a Greenline 40. Look it up!

Thanks for watching! I actually did look up the Greenline 40! I never new such a vessel existed. It's like the super modern version of a canal cruiser. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

Funny how you always seem to be near a brewery! My bicycle friends in MN always ride trails that end at brewery's. LOL

Thanks for watching! it's interesting to note that it hasn't been that long ago (late 80's) when there was no craft beer or local breweries.

We cruised on Ontario's Trent-Severn Waterway in 2016 and had a wonderful time. It's probably close to your home base (NY or New England?) and the experience sounds a lot like what you enjoyed on the Erie (versus what I understand to be mild complaint about the rural nature of English canals?). It's a series of lakes that are connected with locks and short sections of canal and usually there's a nice little town where the locks are. Parks Canada provides mooring at the locks (and you can moor or anchor at many uninhabited locations, etc.) There's also the Rideau Canal, also in Ontario, and the experience sounds pretty similar to the TSW. We managed to nab both of the "highlights" of the TSW, the hydraulic lift locks at Kirkfield and Peterborough, but we had two weeks :) I've also done three trips on English canals and 3 weeks on French canals and IMO England is the premier experience for canalling. In England you generally aim to moor near a pub, in France you aim for a boulangerie. The fact that you operate all the canal equipment in England, while in Canada or France lockkeepers mostly do it for you (and in France they like loooong lunch hours!) is what makes it such an amazing experience. If you do get back to England my advice would be to head for the Midlands and go on the narrow 7' wide canals. It gives a different and more "human scaled" experience that's hard to describe. Thanks for the upload!

Thanks for watching and sharing your story on the Trent-Severn. We did a canal holiday on the Avon-Kennett canal and loved it. Our boat was 69' with no bow thruster but still fairly easy to maneuver. You are certainly correct in that much of the fun of the canals in Europe are the opening of the locks and lift bridges. We'll keep your suggestion for the Midlands in mind next time we go...

The rest of the UK canals have lots of things to ßee and visit near them and lots of mooring places but you have to get out of London.

Thanks for watching! We sailed on a 69' canal boat on the Avon-Kennet canal back in 2013 with Oxfordshire Narrowboats. We had a wonderful time and am looking forward to getting back. We have a playlist on our channel documenting our trip if you're interested...

We are booked with Erie Canal Adventures in May 2022. Were there any items you did not take you wish you did? We just assumed bottled water to drink/cook and save the Tank for showers/toilet.
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 года назад
Thanks for watching and we hope you have as wonderful a time as we did. If you didn't catch it, we brought our own work gloves to handle the lines at the locks. Erie Canal Adventures provides some but they were quite "used". The top blanket was somewhat thin so if you enjoy sleeping in cool temperatures with a heavier blanket, you may want to bring an additional one. We cooked onboard and if we do it again, Cindy would bring her own chef's knife - the one provided wasn't the "sharpest knife in the drawer". Have a great time and if you have any other questions, our email is in the video's description box.

I too would be concerned with checking the engine oil level...when is this ever done ?
@LuvSubbin
@LuvSubbin 2 месяца назад
Thanks for watching! I assume the staff at Erie Canal Adventures checks it on a regular basis. I suppose the good part is that if the engine ever ran out of oil and seized, it's not too far to go to safely tie up on the shore...

Fair enough - I am wrong. When we owned our 36' Beneteau Oceanis CC it did not have a city water connection. Sea Rays obviously do.

Thanks for watching! Wow - you have a good eye. My Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust was my high school graduation gift in 1984. My parents bought it through the military PX when we were stationed in West Germany. I've had it cleaned by Rolex twice since then and it still keeps great time.
