Feels strange. I found this band years after I found dissection. Dissection was the first band to really make me want to broaden my horizons, to really look at the bigger picture. Then, again, when I was at a difficult part of my life, existentially, I stumbled upon watain and , once again, my horizons expanded, my soul felt ignited. The music really moved me, still does. I don't consider myself a Satanist, never really have, but the thirst for deeper understanding of the cosmos at large, the urge to go farther into the unknown, that's what gives me purpose and bands like dissection and watain illustrate it so beautifully. Cheesey, I know, but he's right, Erik I mean. When you cross the first threshold so to speak there's no real reason to go back. You're attracted and drawn in by the desire to know the unknowable abyss. To quote a lyric written by Jon that describes it "Thus far a long journey, through my soul's infinity it has been a journey far beyond mortality" I suppose now I'm heading towards that place of umbral solitude and tranquility. I believe death is far from the end but that it's merely another gate, through which we all pass on our own paths. I don't plan on dying anytime soon, I'm still far too young to have truly lived (21) , but my soul, my heart, no longer fears death. One should never fear uncertainty but embrace it. Spending your life worrying when the ax will drop isn't really living, honestly. Enjoy life to the fullest and when it's time to move on, do so with dignity and pride. Again, cheesey and admittedly edgey, but that's just my view point. Don't just follow a path, carve a new one.
@@adamdufrene2947 haha, no, not especially lol. I study, but that's the extent. I do agree with some of their beliefs and whatnot, but I can say the same for almost any religion or spiritual path. I'm interested in learning what I can from all of them.
This is awesome coverage of Erik, sharing thoughts and insights that most people do not deserve to hear. some of you will never understand or appreciate what black metal is about. So who cares? Those of us who love metal, understand. Hail Watain.. hail to the source of true Black Metal... forever! \,,/
I just adore that part where it comes to the prison guard allegory. The way he express thoughts and his point of view is just so right to me. Respect and Hail Watain.
WATAIN pulled me right into black metal from the gothic rock/post punk world I have always existed in... I saw a direct correlation between WATAIN and bands that I already loved like Fields of the Nephilim, Bauhaus, Empire Hideous, etc. They are a great gateway drug into Black Metal, I am HOOKED 🦇🤘😈 🖤
I agree with him, Bathory and Hellhammer gave birth to Black Metal, and shined away from bands like Venom and had a totally diffrent sound, can you imagine how amazing it was to first hear Blood Fire Death? :-)
Of course I do. The first ever black metal song I've listened to (2 years ago). It was so dark and majestic, with those heavy melodies that drew me into black metal and took me way from the heavy/thrash/power metal stuff I was into. 🖤
i was going to leave a longer comment but i dont see where it would do much good. words express yourself without the need for props. church burning is individual "noone sat down and was like ok this is why we are ALL doing it". heck i get angry at people who wear crosses not because i hate christians but because they do it for the wrong reasons. i also get angry when i see videos like this where there is no humility to the master you serve
ne znam jesi li ozbiljan ili ne,teško je spaziti sarkazam preko neta, ali ako jesi onda ne vidim razlog zašto bi jedan balkanski primitivac gledao intervju koji ne može shvatiti....
