For real. In the Kombat Kast they said he wasn't too execution heavy. But for me he's the first character in MK1 that was legitimately hurting my hands learning his combo routes.
9:40 Combo 7 is usually the hardest combo, 8 is supposed to be the Fatal Blow combo and 9 is for Shujinko combos specifically, its set up like that because trials 8 and 9 were added in from patches, base game was only 1-7
@@rueme4228 My only guess is cause Shujinko is probably the most unique as his moves depends on who you're fighting, he also doesn't play like any other kameo as you have to manually charge his kameo meter
Wait did they add shujinko trials for all the characters then? Because I used to main Li Mei + shujinko and it was hard as hell trying to find new kombos lol
Shoutout to the editors, you guys are fantastic. I was only able to watch a little of the stream and these videos really do break down the best parts. Much love
Kombo Trail 9 will always be a Shujinko trail, because they want you to experiment with him if you ever do try him out to see what kind of crazy combos you can do with the opponent's characters. Hell, they added Reptile Kombo 10 not only for his new cancel, but a brand new move Shunjinko gets with Shang Tsung as your opponent.
The issue you had on combo 7 was letting go of 1 before doing the dash cancel, not a tight cancel window. Getting the knock back instead of the crumple shows 1 was released.
As of Season 3, characters only had 8 Kombo Trials each. Starting in Season 4, the Shujinko Kombos were added. Since they are “bonus” Kombos, they vary widely in difficulty. Some are super easy, others can get pretty tough.
Ermac makes Kameos look like an afterthought that isn’t needed. I wish they would revamp Kameos to be more fun and feel punchy and strong like some kinda limited use special
Spent an hour this morning before work, played a tower and did some invasion missions he definitely play’s differently from the rest, he also is easy to punish if a person decides that starting off with the the back 2(Y,Triangle) strain because it takes a good second for the attack to get off.
Just got done finishing Ermac’s combo trials, and trial 7 took me multiple days!! For those still stuck on it, the key is to be able to consistently hit-confirm F4 into the float after doing the dash cancel instead of dialing it in like normal. Timing is still incredibly strict, but practicing that component will help you figure out the rest of the combo, and then just keep at it until you can get the F4 to connect after the cancel! Trial 8 I didn’t find to be as difficult, but more or less just really funky. Key here is to get the timing of landing standing 3 into the second teleport down. Hope this helps!
Iv been having so much fun utilizing the new moves shujinko has in between combos. My favorite one is copying ermacs grab and using it to build up star meter
A list johnny cage in mkx was like this. I didn't use that variation as much because I never managed to get the cancels consistently but it was insanely fun when it works.
Just tried him out today. Jesus, yeah, his inputs have to be SO precise, much more than any other character I feel. But I still like him though. Makes excited to learn more with him. Pulling off combos and strings with him feel amazing.

The combos were kinda tough for me to pull off at first. I went online and my first 4 matches me and the other ermac were exchanging pokes and attack strings. All of a sudden our next few matches we actually managed to do some mixups and combos and after a bit we lost the flow😢
Can you check out reptiles combo trials, next to shang stung I personally think he has some of the hardest trials in the game. He has such tight links that made me felt like I was gonna lose my mind
I wish every character had multiple flashy combo routes like ermac. I get so tired get beat up by the same cycle of combos from all the meta characters doing the same combos over and over again.
Howdy y’all. I just found a phone on the bus and it’s obviously locked. The only notification is about this video so I’m hoping the owner of the phone might see this comment and I can try to get it back to them. I’d appreciate it if you can either pin this comment or get some upvotes in hopes to contact the owner. Appreciate it
I seriously need help 😂😂 has anyone figured out the timing for his flight cancel after his forward 4 the knee attack that puts you midair? I can’t get it to cancel ever
Everyone in the game originally had only 8 combos. I wanna say either with Quan Chi or Peacemaker, they added the Shujinko combo (9) afterwards, so usually, 7 or 8 are the hardest ones. Everyone’s 9th is a Shujinko one, hence why it might not feel as hard.
As an Ermac fanboy since UMK3 to now. What I like-Story, Look and combo God. What I dont like-Not a zoner and/or space control character anymore, but just a rushdown cancel maniac with ridiculous execution. What I miss- His projectile and TK push and hover options from MKD, MK9 and MKX. I know he has the tk choke slam but that's not the same as a push same with that ground earthquake move and 2 bars to hold you aint worth the squeeze.
Now the wait begins until they decide to speed up the whole game to match Ermac. He’s not a character i ever really liked so it won’t make me come back to mk1, but i really hope they do something with the base roster too. Not a big fan of the pay for dlc for more enjoyable character mentality
Honestly when they announced that there would be air combos in the game. I thought every character would be like ermac where you can easily go from air to ground and back to air and continue combos without assist, but allow the assist to assist in give you more damage and defense options 😭
Yeah, I REALLY wish they would loosen the combos up. There's certain combos I've practiced for months and can't nail them, and I'm almost eldergod. I wish they'd change that. Tekken 8 is so much easier, and I think that's the way it should be. If you KNOW a combo, you should be able to DO a combo. Learning some of these combos is like playing NES Megaman. And you know what? MK has always been like that. I've actually found it's best you learn the combo well enough to do a 30%, then move on and make it your own after that. I'm pretty sure that's what Sonicfox and all those guys are doing anyways. You hardly ever see them doing stock combos. They have their own rendition.
Yea he's definitely hard to do. He's fun don't get me wrong but don't really enjoy how hard he is to play plus I swear he takes in so much damage which is another reason why I'm not having crazy fun with him. Especially in invasions trying to level him up, feels like he soaks in so much damage with a few hits
Is anyone seeing that sometimes it will make you use “shifting spirits” AKA DB4 despite not even pressing 4 in the right order…like I just be doing combos right? I press neutral 4 as part of my combos and when I attempt to either enhanced witch slam or suspended animation, as soon as I press the button it thinks I’ve pressed 4 while doing DB but I actually pressed either 1 or 2 or whatever. This honestly pisses me off sometimes and I don’t know if it’s me timing it wrong or it’s a legit bug in the game at this point.
I’m not surprised Ermac is this OP, for a Construct that has Multiple Souls and New Moves makes it Clear he’s a Tricky and Unpredictable to Play and Honestly I’m all For It are it gives New Life to this Game, plus The Hourglass is my favorite Stage and Music.
