What made the aunt Nelda bit even funnier is everyone knows an elderly woman just like that and they will tell you their whole life story whether you want to hear it or not....
One of my all-time favorite actors. It doesn't matter how many times I watch his Ernest movies, they always leave me laughing. RIP Jim! You are missed!
One of the brilliant touches of this movie is that the guards’ uniforms are just matter of factly pink. 🤣 Also gotta love how Ernest commits so thoroughly that he gripes to himself in character, knowing nobody can hear him.
Daniel Ryan well I don't know about officers but there was a prison out west I believe that made their inmates were all pink. when I say pink trust you I mean pink they had pink jumpsuits pink handcuffs pink leg irons pink cells and the bars are even painted pink. I guess they thought that would destroy morale or something among inmates.
I wish Jim Varney didn't have to kick the bucket so early. His Ernest movies are hilariously enjoyable and he was such a great funny actor that we will never forget. R.I.P Jim Varney
This is definitely a well thought out character especially given the backstory of a tragic failed mother. I can imagine a woman giving birth to a child and the stress of raising that child only to see him get incarcerated, she must have smoked every day of that child's life to get a voice like that and it's not out of the realm of possibility which makes this character great.
Hands down my favorite Ernest scene of all times. He wiggles his head does his inflections perfectly. And everyone is going on about the pink jacket- it was a low budget film. And it came out in 1990, no offense, but loud and tacky was hip in the 80's, so the 1990 was still recovering from that trend.
Try 13 movies and over 900 commercials that all had something new to make us laugh every time. In a world known for shitty sequels, I'd say Varney did pretty well for himself. Show a little respect.
Crazy how acceptable this movie was to watch as a kid. I'm pretty sure this one would give lots of kids nightmares now. Just a reminder of the differences in generations.

I agree, I grew up watching these Ernest movies, he was a funny man, I miss him :( if only he was still around so my kids could watch these movies all the time, i need to get them all on dvd
