I've been a professional musician for 30 years. I've toured and done hundreds of recording sessions. What Joe just said about 8" speakers in a Fender Champ is absolute TRUTH. Early in my session career I showed up at a studio with my 50-watt Marshall half stack and a 100-watt Mesa Boogie and 10+ pedals. We tried to get good guitar tones for 2+ hours. Finally the engineer said "I've got something that might work," and he brought out a '70 Fender Vibro-champ and a TS808. I hooked up my telecaster, and proceeded to get the best guitar tones I've ever recorded before or since.

i agree with his points to an extent on modeling the newer gear is pretty close and price to performance in the new age of studio work it saves a ton of money and time setting up. although i do love the idea of investing in a mojo tone tweed deluxe or a legit ac30 someday two rock solid amps

Good interview. Classy guy and a gentleman. Excusing himself at the end and wishing everyone a good day.

Very privileged to have seen The Eagles a few nights ago at their Wembley gig, and Joe Walsh stole the show! Amazing man! Just a little bit in love with him now!

I was lucky to catch Joe twice in 6 months in 2013 in Vancouver. He was backing Bob Seger in March and headlining with The Eagles(with Glen Frey) in September. Busy guy who was equally at home in each role. Consummate pro and super talented player/writer. As a sidebar: I absolutely love my Axis, it is a stunning honey burst, quilted top, tone machine that is effortless to play. IMO EBMM offer production guitars with Custom Shop quality.

Joe has come full circle , I have followed him since i was in 3rd grade & the Album Yer' Album .He is smarter than hell & smart about keeping the Mojo in his music , I'm so glad about him picking Duane Allman's brain about slide Guitar. He's the BEST in the business when it comes down the tones & tunings ! Also listen to the song : The Confessor , it's about looking at yourself in the mirror & getting rid of everything that makes you weird !

Ernie Ball's are the only strings I use.I mess around with some highs and lows on a few different guitars and I think they have the best tone to my ear and they hold up with abuse, can't really ask for more then that! I've used em long enough that when I go to reach down to adjust my Amp, I now stop myself and change out the strings. ;)

Boss Katana Air has 8" speakers, my Telecaster sounds killer on it when I play Funk 49, I learned to play Funk 49 after seeing the movie Zachariah back in the day, never could get the tone right until I got that Boss Katana Air with the 8" speakers, now Joe tells us, that was the secret, 8" speakers, Thank you Joe, you continue to be my sensei on guitar and life

Ernie Ball are my go to live strings. I only use them live because they are too expensive as a practice string so I just use Elixir then but for live Ernie Ball are amazing. They have a great tone and they seem to hold tune better than the other strings.

How much do use your pinky finger? I lost feeling on mine from an accident, do you play in the key of G? Adjust to very slight inward bow I remember that.🤠

Ain't anything quite like Ernie Ball hybrid slinky's on a brass saddle Tele. Ahhhh. Cool to know Joe is an Ernie Ball guy. He knows so much about guitar he could be a tech or luthier. I wonder if he still has his early Teles.

I guess Hotel California questions, having been done to death, are a bit off limits, but what happened to the tele he played on that? I'm aware of at least two teles he used to play it live in the 70's. I wonder what became of those?

You obviously have little musical knowledge let alone no understanding of the life of Joe Walsh. Commenting without understanding makes you look the fool to those that understand. (shaking my head in disbelief)
