Lmao yep that's how it is with about everything my son ask me all the time with his trading cards and I say the same quote and he gives me that blank lost stare
I never realized how collectable errors were in the past. But recently, I've noticed how much more unique errors can be. I skipped a Ken Block Fiesta missing the front wheels, but then I was told they were special so I drove back as quickly as possible to buy it! :D This video's helped me see the other possible errors to spot.
I was confused with my economics homework and so I decided to take a break and relax and watch some racegrooves and this video really helped me understand demand for products. Thank you so much!
Finding that piece of fabric in the package happens from time to time. People think it's a band-aid but it isn't. Your Angry Birds piece is an awesome find! If you make a video of your Errors, you can post it as a Video Response to this Error video. It won't automatically post, I have to approve it.
You would think that the person at the factory would notice the wheels and axles missing! But guess what, every Hot Wheels release still sells, with or without wheels LOL!
I have a 2018 rally car HW DAREDEVILS 5/5 #04 with a bad red rear rivit it has the red bottom bent and pulled away from top card #FRR94-D7C3 STAMPED L26 multi language on back, if you would like it for your collection you can have it, just let me no I'll send it, thank you Sam martin
I don't buy models with bent axles or with the wheels jammed under the fender anymore. It seems more like it's messed up rather than an Error but that's my perspective on the issue.
Your right! Errors are only worth what someone will pay for them. A good example of that is that I saw a 2012 Super TH have a so called "major paint error" for sale on Ebay. I didn't think it was major, and the person was selling it for $175! I'm not suprised that nobody offered to buy it!
As I stated in the video, it's only worth what somebody would pay. With your car being a popular release, I would think that it would be worth more than the original purchase price.
That would be an ALW Error (All Large Wheels). That is an awesome piece for two reasons. It is on a Treasure Hunt release and it is on a fan-favorite model! As for how Rare, it is pretty rare. By the way, this video is one of the few where I allow Video Responses if people want to share their Errors. Remember, kid-friendly, be respectful, and try to keep it as short as possible.
Good talk. It's a shame that more and more people try to collect things for the monetary value rather than the joy of collecting. They think because it seems rare it's worth more money. But like you said, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Loving those T-buckets. They remind me so much of one of my all-time favorite castings, the Hot Heap!!
I would never buy an error car but I have found in stores and I did collect them then .... in 2000 it started happening “tampering” and it sucks. So I know that mine are 100% and I’m good with that ... thanks for the info
Is there a quality control to correct the problem. Or, does Mattel just let them go to keep up profits up. The toy is only one dollar, but they are making so many they don't care about the quality of their product? When people buy defective products just lets them to improve their quality control. It's a big problem in Super Treasure Hunts. Allowing workers selling them on eBay. If Mattel doesn't take pride in their product how can collectors give more value on them? I love collecting Hot Wheels but should be in MINT conditions. Don't buy errors make them improve the quality. This is my opinion.
Most Hot Wheels are made in China or Taiwan...the standards are not as high as made in U.S.A. Many times, some parts outnumber the # of cars of any particular model. So left over parts can be and are used (waste not, want not). I collected variations because they were purposely produced...errors are also fun to buy, but it takes an avid collector to spot them. Like the guy said on the video, value is subject to what a person is willing to pay. I have well over a thousand HW...My collection will go to my daughter when I die...I have many rare variations and treasure hunts...I am hoping that when she reaches my age, she will be able to average $5.00 per car.
Since they come from maylasia and someone makes a profit even at $1.00 each , I'm not shocked that quality control is about as reliable as a plumbers estimate . I had a summer job in a Plant that made bottled items and the job paid really well in 1974 . I spotted the odd bad plastic bottle and a chipped glass one right at the screw-on cap spot , there were even defective screw-on caps that would have just made it into the box for retail stores. The pay made me want to keep the job ........maybe some of the workers fear being seen as a malcontent pointing out minor issues when the Stores might catch serious error and treat like damage inventory and eat the loss.
Baseball cards & Pokémon cards are made with way huger profit margin, yet they still high standards with quality control. Though when either one of them have an error it’s worth allot more then a regular card.
Collecting errors may be fun and people should do it if they enjoy it but spending a lot on them is not wise because it is so easy to open them, change things around and seal them up again with no way of telling.
You just have to judge the person your buying from .plus it's a lot of hard work for very little profit so can imagine there are a lot of people doing it .
I saw the most crazy error ever, i saw a white zotic and its window was like totally messed up, it looked like it was melted, and in addition to that, its blister looked like it was too large, it was larger than the other ones. So I bought it. I also had a car (forgot what it was called) where it had 2 5 spoke wheels, a 5 dot wheels and a pr5 wheel. That one was wierd...
That BlackHawk is sooooooooo soooo nice!!!!! HAhAHAH now that you did this video more people will probably will look for errors LoLz! MAybe now people will finally understand why we collect em!! Maybe LoL
@Hotshotmech38 What was the error with the Shadow Jet? Errors that are more likely are bent front axles and the canopy over the driver's compartment is often loose or missing.
I am not able to reply to every comment. I get over a hundred comments a day but I do reply to most of them. As for your Errors, congrats on finding Mixed Wheel Errors. They are favorites of mine!
@jckid02 If you win, I will as for your parents to contact me and say it is OK to send your prize. You should ask them now if it is OK for you to win. Make sure that they know that your information is safe with me. Let them know that I do parties for kids in Los Angeles at RaceGrooves (dot) com. If you let them know ahead of time, it would be better.
very nice, and don't forget, in another vid of un-boxing a whole box you found the van with the miss rivatted base, i don't have error cars, just error cases,
I got one that’s upside down when I was youngI took it out of the box 😕 I have another one that’s put together crooked and it’s pretty funky I also took that one out of the box 🤦🏻♀️ now I wish I would of left them because they would be worth good money
I love collecting errors, especially if they are mis matched wheels, loose motors and if they are not riveted to the base.Since it's easier for me to customize them and use their parts for other cars c:
I have been collecting Hot Wheels cars (star wars and marvel) for probably 5 yrs now and i have about 100+ and i can tell you that i had NO clue that all hot wheels cars aimed to the right ... And as i look at each one, sure enough they ALL aim to the right ... And like you said, its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it ..
I enjoy Miss prints. I find showing off cars with the print in to wrong spot seems to be more impressive to not only other collectors but people who do not collect.
Found a corvette c7r hw race team that had the front rivet double stamped so the front underside of the car is a bit mangled ,packaging is perfect. Interesting find.
The biggest Error I found was a package that had no car in it at all nope the car wasnt stolen cause the package was good as new and had no tears or anything it was pretty funny. :)
I never noticed until you pointed it out that the Matchbox cars face left and the Hot Wheels to the right. I have one error: Matchbox Volkswagen T2 with a missing window unit. Sealed in the original package and i bought it new from the shop.
@Nerflover787 I wonder if the tape in the package was to mark a defective car but I don't see anything wrong with the car. But maybe it just got stuck to the car before it got stuck in the package LOL. You're welcome for being a subscriber =)
@Bangerkid45 Treasure Hunt Errors are most awesome! I opened up this video to accept Video Responses so if you do a showcase video on your Error(s), you can post it here.
@z1546796 That's why I have to keep my Errors separate because! Otherwise, I might open it up as a regular car... Congrats on the gem that you didn't know that you had!
So I just found a Miata in a Stinger branded box, and I picked up both the stinger and miata in their original packaging's. Would they be worth anything?
Errors by subtraction or damage should be avoided as the can be easily faked. Now if a model was somehow mistakenly painted and or has another car’s decals, yes! That would be highly collectable and coveted...as long as no evidence of tampering is found.
I previously bought a Mitsubishi Evo 10 with different wheel set from other Evos on the shelf. The front is red chrome ten spoke then the back is five spoke. I didn't plan to sell it but a collector offered me about $70 for it. He collects error cars and it's his first time seeing a mismatched wheel Evo 10 that's why.
Definitely only worth what someone's willing to pay. If I found a badly riveted one at the store, or loose parts, I would just ask for it to be half price and fix it later. Bent axles? I would hand it over the counter and say, you won't be able to sell that. Mis-painted, heh, I probably wouldn't notice till I got it home. :¬D
Found a torque twister (with green/red wheels) with the body put on backwards from the base.. I didn't even realize it until I got home so I went out & bought the correct one to compare it to.
