How to Value Hot Wheels ERRORS & VARIATIONS…Fakes?!? 

My favorite error find (in store) is a Gulf Nissan Laurel with missing chrome bumpers! Just recently, I found a Tesla cybertruck with 2 missing wheels.

Found one error car this morning while birthday shopping for grandson hot wheels. Rear wheels are missing. Store pic and receipt to verify!

Helped so much, i had just found a range rover classic hotwheel with no prints on it at all, and its one of the 55th anniversary editions, and I can't find any cars like this on ebay and i don't know what to do with it

I have a couple error cars one I found was the rockin railer with wheel error one wheel is half black and gold very cool

I sell all my errors but I usually sell the ones that have a completely different casting on card. They normally sell for about $10 the ones I've sold. Great video though, how about a video on the valuation of customs carded or not and custom carded.

Great video, errors are cool to find. It would be hard to put a value on them, if I sold any of mine i would auction them and let the buyers decide.

I totally understand buying lamleys color variation, but outside of him I would not purchase a color variation or error. If I find them myself then I will definitely pick them up. Cool stuff brother

I would buy these only if I see them on the peg. And just to show as oddities in my collection. Hopefully people are not creating them and returning them to the store. Don’t like missing parts errors. The off centered decos are interesting. Have there been any poorly die cut cards? Oh, I’ve also seen blisters that were almost in the centre of the card.

I've got a plastic body car where it looks melted in the back. I think it's cool so I keep it with my best cars. But I always figured it wasn't worth anything because I know errors can be faked.

I have found errors I found a bat mobile with the wheel trim not on one wheels at least. Obviously unopened.

What about a Porsche in an STI blister? I in fact have one and don’t know how rare this is. I know if I found the right collector/porsche enthusiast I could probably sell it for a pretty penny.

These are easy to spot when you get it in hand. You can't hide it when the blister has been pulled. So just get your $$ back if it has been pulled.

We were left with a few hundred hot Wheels errors by a family member. About 40% of them look suspicious, but there are some obvious errors that are clearly legitimate - missed rivets, casting errors, etc. While we have sold a few of the more popular models on eBay, most of them are still sitting in a box after being listed for over a year at under $20. Auctioning them ended up with some .99¢ sales that cost us money (thanks to eBay fees). I have recently considered making a separate eBay store just for errors, but the possibility of having to deal with all types of returns has kept me from doing it (as well as the time cost of listing on eBay). Anybody out there have any constructive suggestions? By the way, the Silverado error was automatically suspicious with that super glued blister, even on video.

Enjoyed the review. Collectors will put crazy value on the oddest item. The further you go down the rabbit hole the odder it gets, much narrower of a collecting base however. This narrow base is what drives those giant price tags. I personally am not a collector of errors, but glad people to collect them.

Sometimes errors cars make them look a whole lot better than they're supposed to be and so much cleaner for certain castings

Just bought a HW mainline red Mercedes 560 sec AMG with a tampo error Lights printed on the back bumper. Unfortunately the car was mint but loose Only paid £2 Think it was a real steal 🙂

I have a Hot Wheels shelby cobra 427 s/c retro racers with graphic errors on both of the car. you can see the very top of the graphic on the right side of the car and the rear logo is out of place also. I have no idea what its worth.

I found one last night with some strange foreign object inside the blister pack. It looks like a chunk of rubber or something. I've seen errors with other parts, never a foreign object like this.

I just subbed. Good points on errors and variations. Most basic errors can be faked. So I wouldn't buy them

What about a mold mistake on a car. I didn't realize it til today. I had the lil thing for almost 2 months. Originally started to get some cars for a lil girl that loves lil cars. She didn't get a chance to play with this one & I noticed a mold mistake. When I bought it, I thought it was a wrecker racer truck. Then I started to collect more n more cars. 20 cars in almost 2 months I have over 480 sum cars now. I bought out almost every retail store from Walmart to Dollar General n such. Mall has rare ones, but not like this car or tiny truck. I took close notice when newer truck had a spoiler in the back & the few weeks older one the mold didn't set all the way. So wonder how much it it's worth & I didn't know value til now. Last I bought Hot Wheels was in the 80's & now I'm 47. I'm fresh in collecting & value of defective cars I don't know who to contact without paying a fee if it's not worth & I'm out of money. Anyway that's all I had to say

The C8 error so perfect for a wheel custom job but because it's a real error it's definitely not worth doing it to it because it would be worth at least a few bucks more than a normal one with wheels

Talk about a bad apple ruining the bunch, maybe there is a chemical test to see if there are any traces of acetone, idk

I have a hot wheel 57 t-bird 1981 on bottom. On back it says 57 Chevy.

It would actually be pretty hard to swap out Mainline Wheels without taking the car apart so wheel error is if they're are 99.9% real unless of the base makes it obvious

Error cars are easy to make ,error cars either have to have a bad casting job or missing something, other than that not a fan anyone can do it

How does a store picture prove anything? You can only prove the car was in a store. Anyone could bring one in for a pic.

I think errors are more like personal finds. It ain’t common to run into them

I have a 10 pack of hot wheel cars I held on to since 2012, won it at a christmas drawing In a small town. The blister got a lil damaged around the corners sadly, but never fully opened. One of the cars is missing it's front axle. It has its rear one which I think is strange. Out of curiosity, what would you put it at? If you need more details about it, I'll gladly supply it.

I got a ‘72 string ray convertible (still in 2023 box) and think it’s an error. It doesn’t have the symbol on the front between the headlights. Looked online and rest of them have the symbol. Wouldn’t that be an error and if so do you know around it’s worth?
