One of my favorite songs. You are correct that it sounds a lot like Boney M. and it is because this band was also Frank Farian's project. It has a great tempo. And I hope Tommy will listen to you :)
Btw I also like their 'Can't stand the rain" and 'Leave a light" as well as her solo cover of 'Hold on i'm coming" not so much for the songs themselves but for Precious Wilson's exceptional voice.

This a cover from an older song, and this one was produced by Frank Farian, producer behind Boney M. too. The lead singer is jamaican Precious Wilson and she's still performing. One Way Ticket was a big hit all over Europe. Yes, it's a captivating song, I love it.
That brings back childhood memories. Very popular song, stayed in the top 10 of the German single charts for 10 weeks. The original version was the b-side of Neil Sedaka's 1959 single Oh Carol. This clip is from the German tv show "disco" (spelled with a non capital first letter and the current year added [disco '71, disco '72...]) which ran from 1971 to 1982. Technically the group disbanded in 1985 but members (and former members) kept performing in different line ups every now and then at least into the mid 2000s. The 70s are hit & miss for me too, the 80s were absolutely great but I never found my way home from the 90s. 😅

I know this original version because back in the day they used to do a lot (like a literal shit-ton) of translation songs, so popular pop and folk songs translated or re-worded over the carxhy beat, and this was immense popular as a finnish version, "Menolippu" sung by Vicky Rosti. But I'm babbling, meant to say the original singer has an awesome sound in her voice. Cheers from Finland
