I'm so glad that they're keeping the song in Albanian. It creates so much more of an atmosphere and obviously they saw the success of keeping a song written in Albanian in Albanian from last year rather than translating it to English as they have done in other years. I look forward to seeing their competition because this is an amazing start.
I SCREAMED. HIIIII. I love Albania, they always send good stuff. Honestly, she could win. Your channel is almost 10 months old, I can't believe it has almost been one year since I started watching you. It'd be such a great winner. Sorry Nicosia, but Tirana 2020. Nicosia 2021. The song's about immigrants, and she said this song if for the Albanians and for everyone who searches for a better life and that it's inspired particularly in the Kosovo war. This is one translation I found: You sing and cry, In hands, tears are gathered You held them, One day you live The next you die How much nostalgy, how little hope Alone, no identity Return to your Land Oh man that held hostage the heart Return to your Land You know there is a heart waiting for you One day you live The next you die How much nostalgy, how little hope Alone, no identity Return to your Land Oh man that held hostage the heart Return to your Land You know there is a heart waiting for you TIRANA 2020.
Yep. Albania is setting the bar super high. The rest of the countries better step their games up. Thanks for the translation by the way. My interpretation was actually not too far off.
That’s it. Stay where you’re born and atop mucking about on silly holidays. Most dopey fools can’t see that. Muh divErSwiTy doesn’t work. It just makes you lose your culture.
She singing for people to came back on they land where belong, cuz in other places they are without identity... And the beautiful part it's she will sing in our language.. ALBANIA
Yay! I need to play catch up with your 2019 songs. Before the revamp, I love everything about it. And damn, that voice!!! After the revamp/music video, it took it up a notch. I can’t wait to see the staging for it. So glad she’s keeping it in Albanian.
6:30 you are completly right, with this song she calls the albanians that emigrated to different countries (diaspora) to comeback to their land, and the name of the song Ktheju Tokës means Comeback to Land, I am happy that you and other people understood the meaning wothout knowing anything in words because of language, and this means that language is not needed to understand a song 😍😍😍 thankyou for reacting, im a subscriber and countinue with other stuff of 2019 GoAl🇦🇱🇦🇱
I am from Albania and the title of the song is "return to your land" .It refers to all Albanians abroad or everyone who for different reasons left their country, it kinda says to not forget your roots, your language , your origin, culture etc....Its an awesome song with a very deep meaning :)
Albania is in it to win it! I still prefer "Mall" from last year as it's more my style of music, but Jonida's song easily stands out from the rest of the pack. I already predict qualification for Albania as long as they don't mess up the staging.
I missed your reactions, Jake! This is PURE ART, your face says everything!!!! 💗 I was speechless too the first time. I hope she wins or end in a good place. She deserves the world!!!!
I agree with you TOTALLY A STUNNING PRODUCTION AND SINGER...WOW. HOPE THIS WINS AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND A WORD WHICH MAKES EUROVISION ALL THE MORE SPECIAL....XXXXX LOVE TO ALL.
Hey Jake how are you,i hope you had great holidays and i hope in 2019 you will have better luck with keeping your videos alive on the channel. And about Albania...wow what a strong start.we need that ethnic influence....and that voice wow
Welcome back, Jake! I'm glad I'm listening to this the first time with you. I totally agree with you. Her voice is stunning and I'm loving the ethnic vibe in this. I'm surprised my friends all hated the song and found it boring. ok maybe not the most amazing song but this may end up in my top 15 this year wow.
Literally everytime I listen to this song in my room, I literally randomly go " ktheju tokës tendeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee hmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmm le peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeng" ... I feel sorry for my neighbours :'D
Hello from Australia! Not entirely sure how I stumbled across this channel last night, but it gives me such joy so I don't even care. I think I've binge watched about 4 or 5 hours of content. I love Eurovision, so I just keep clicking on the next video. If you haven't already, I definitely recommend checking out Iceland 1997 and the interval act from 1994.
@@roy.moreno Yep people mix them always lol I didn't see it live this year, but I saw Eugene the previous year and the audio of the live orchestra was pretty amazing! Such a pity RTSH doesn't improve the transmission quality and doesn't upload HD videos.
LOVE IT! Have some issues with the instrumentalization choices (chorus needs more BASSSSSS - I don't mean go full dubstep, but that bass is just too weedy - and some of the electronic percussive sounds are very dated) BUT damn me if this isn't Albania's best song ever!
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I would like to recommend you a young Chinese singer Hua Chen Yu! He is one of the best story teller using music, Top performer in China now and his recent concert broke all records sales in China! Please check out Hua Chen Yu performance on Singer 2018, highly recommended "Child", "Qi Tian", " I don't care", "Ordinary Path" and "Wayfarer" Thank you and look forward to your reactions!
Yes!!!this great Chinese singer. His name is Hua Chenyu. He is a very talented singer, very unique. He has many styles to discover.Watching his performance is never boring.I can't find the perfect word to describe him. He is so perfect.Looking forward to your reaction video. It will definitely surprise you.😊
Hua Chenyu really amazing in Singer 2018!He has person characteristics,he can perform song's soul then he thinking more about the song. Please check out these performance, very awesome!
Hua Chenyu is invited to make a theme song named "Qi Tian" for the movie (Wu Kong). Wu kong is a character in the Chinese classic novel (Journey to the west). This song is so amazing with the elements of rap & opera. You would never regret.

I like it as well, and I'm hoping that the usual revamp that Albania does on their songs will keep what makes this song so interesting. I also hope they'll keep it in Albanian, too. And without being Albanian, I believe that the theme of the song talked about the massive exile that Albanians suffered during a civil war I believe. Btw this is the first comment in this channel, and I guess I have to congratulate you for the work you've done so far Jake😊😊
This voice and this look deserve to be in top 5. But every year eurosomg is blind for albania voice. Albania is the best contry and has the best artist...
Hi Jake, good to have you back Albania never disappoints vocally.....i get Jamala vibes from this performance.......Jonida is epic..... However, I'm feeling that we have seen it before....echoes of Albania 2017 anybody? This is excellent without a doubt, but Eugent raised the bar SO high last year.......I have a sneaky feeling that this may remain in the semi-final....would be a pity though
Yeah.. if it depended on my judgment Eugene had won in 2018.. this, again, beautifull language, beautifull song and voice.. but lacks the surprise and amazing element. But, love Albânia spirit 😉😗
oke i have to say this song has been growing on me for the past days, i really like it now , even that Mirud should have won . but i cant still see this qualifying for the final but if its in the i predict top 15 but this song is very emotional and good and really catchy as well its now my 20/42 good luck Albania .
hahaha. No constructive argument? Just "shut up". Lame lame lame. I throw shade on you missy. [the comment was about her styling and outfit]@@elliegk9668
This is a very strong act to start with in the season 2019 - hope Albania will make a beautiful and mystical staging (then the songs will work and slay).
This is a great start to the Eurovision season. Holy shit it so good. Another thing: Your 2017 seires got blocked in EU servers mostly because of copyright claims and stuff =/ I think its not just me.
Long time no see, Jake! Welcome back to us! Nice to see you back. The Albanian song reminds me a bit about Estonia 2009 in the beginning. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea this year, but, good luck, Albania!
Hi Jake! Do you remember to Joci Pápai from Hungary? He applied for the 2019ESC with this song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2b_vZFUVs_g.html English translation: "My father My father raised me like the wind Blowing softly, singing, telling fairy tales He lived where every road ended One thousand and one years aren’t enough for a life, for a life I can hear him, his heart on the strings I can see him, bearing the passing time on my face I’m proud to confess his faith Of a thousand and one songs this is the one that I hum Old days, beautiful days I love his memory He calls me and I run to him That was a lovely way to play Old songs summon him I still feel the sun's light I can still hear the drone of the wind I can still hear him in the voice of the wind With a song he drove my sadness far away All I can give him is that I belong to him And I can say to my son with pride He's my father, and here's my home Old days, beautiful days I love his memory He calls me and I run to him That was a lovely way to play Old songs summon him I still feel the sun's light The wind whistled a lullaby so my dream would be beautiful The wind whistled a lullaby, I can still hear it today" lyricstranslate.com/hu/az-%C3%A9n-ap%C3%A1m-my-father.html-0#songtranslation
This song reminds me of Amina performing "Le dernier qui a parlé" ("The last one who spoke"), the French entry at the 1991 Eurovision Song Contest that came 1st, dont exactly know why? The intro with the drum reminds me a lot of Soha - "Mil Pasos" as well, but nothing can reach the emotional depth of that song!
Hi Jake, I'm glad you are back. Can you react to "Nene" by Mirud? He was a big fan favorite to win the Albanian selection but he was eliminated by the juries, it's a great song. But still, I really like Jonida's song it's ethnic and powerful.
I just hope the people will appreciate this masterpiece.. Because people nowadays likes generic and terrible songs.... Still hoping that it will qualify for the finals or win...
You were kind of correct in your assumption what this song is about. The title translates to something like "Return to your home" and it's about the many Alpanian people who left their home country to work somewhere else and the song is a cry from their loved ones they left behind. Unfortunately the message of this song might resonate with xenophobic right wing assholes throughout Europe who would love to see all those strangers go back to where they came from.
To be honest the song sounds way more "right wing" than left wing. I mean, the message of the song itself says for the loved ones to comeback to their land and loved ones, that is what the right wing usually says. I wouldn't say the song is political related but it's rather Albanians' long long history and our identity, ofc there will be assholes who might twist the message of the song into their own interests. that is what I am afraid of, I hope it doesn't cause controversies.
@@taftybufty how is the song "right winged", or "left winged"??? This song is not about "politics" - but MIGRATION, IMMIGRATION, DIASPORA. We are talking about *human.* Our species inhabites all continents. Why? Bc of MIGRATION. Do you even understand what she's singing? She is singing about the ppl that left their Homeland. She did not say the word "albanian", but since she sings in Albanian it is crystal clear what she means. But still, having a big diaspira is something that NOT only Albanians have. There are a lot more ethnicities that have also a huge diaspora. Not all ppl left bc they wanted - most of them are FORCED to do so. War, economy crisis, etc. I would never leave Switzerland. We have no war, it is safe here and I have many opportunities. But if all this would not be the same anymore - many ppl would leave and look for a better opportunity and a better life. Still, just bc you were forced to leave your home land it doens't mean that you have to forget about it or "hate" it. There's always love for your homeland - right winged or left winged.
I never said that the song is about politics. But there are a lot of people who will twist everything for their own beliefs and politics. Albania have a lot of history with their migration and all around the world is estimated to leave 10 million Albanians! In Europe, there are a lot of far right wing movements who are anti migration and since the song is all about the migration, the far right will use the song as a movement anti migration, since the song tells own people to comeback to their lands, the far right movement is fanatic and pushes the agenda that the migrants should come back to their lands too. It's not hard to translate the title of the song "return to your land" or "to the land". It's the same as the far right's agenda. I know that the song is not about politics. It will never be about politics, this song is a hymn and a long long history of our people who have left their homeland for a better life, or to escape wars. It's a WHOLE 600 years history on this song. But far right fanatics MIGHT twist the message of our song for their own interests and beliefs, this is my only concern. And I hope it doesn't get twisted like that. That's it. I hope I was clear now
@@taftybufty I wasn't trying to bash you. I just find it ridiculous that ppl try to lable literally everything as "political". _"Ktheju toks tende"_ is directed at 2. Person Singular: Ktheju = return to tokes = the land/erath tende = of yours, ~your = _"return to the land(/earth) of yours"_ or _"return to your land"._ So yes, I can see that some ppl (political motivated ppl) would try to (MIS)interptet this the way the want it for their OWN interests ... When ppl don't speak the language; than they shouldn't be that opinionated about it. Let alone judge it, when it's not even understood. Needless to say that not all languages "work" the same way. In albanian you say for example "ta ha zemren"; "I eat your heart". If you say this you don't mean it literally, you say this to someone that you really love, or like. Or german "Ich habe dich zum Fressen gern"; it's the same as english "I could just eat you up" or "You're good enough to eat". You don't mean this literally. I remember when in all european newspapers "Shqiperia ETNIKE" was translated to "GREATER Albania". When in fact the word "ETNIKE" literally is "ETHNIC". Like... you don't have to speak albanian to recognize the word "etnike". Only an idiot would not see that this was an incorrect translation. Also the fact that since the great powers of europe made these borders (leaving more albanian outside these new borders than inside) caused actually a lot ethnical cleansings and many crimes were commited on albanians. Which was also a reason why many albanians escaped to other countries. But when it comes to this topic ... no one really wants to take responsibility or talk about it. It's easier to bash immigrants and refugees than realizing that the greediness of these great powers and politicians are the cause for all these immigrants and refugees.
Ktheju tokes( return to Earth) Albania always has a good singer and songs unfortunately is a small country and we don't have a very much favor from other
Please can you react to Laura Bretan - Dear Father from romanian selection, it's a big favourite there and I think you are going to love it. A big potential for top result in esc as well. You probably already know her, she reached the finals in America's Got Talent in 2016.
