Drone warfare is terrifying, not only because of the drone itself, but because the people operating the drones treat it like a video game, their life is not in any danger and if they miss or the drone gets shot down, their reaction is the same as someone losing a video game.
Not really true, drone operators are also hunted by BPLA and other drones just behind the front lines. They are a priority target and can also get taken out if operating from an exposed position.
@@tsarski1 when they are attacking someone with their drone the operator isn’t in any immediate danger, I understand they are not always safe from harm but in that moment they are definitely safer than the guy they are chasing around and flying into.
And something interesting also is that soldiers of both sides have used those Helikon Tex swagman rolls to reduce their signature from thermal devices.
@@Ivarr.Bergmann.Alaska Might have to invest in one too. I don’t think the material is NIR/IRR compliant but that wouldn’t really matter if thermal is used by the OPFOR… Overall it can be used for other things too, such as keeping oneself warm.
There was some video out of Russia showing this sort of RPG like device that fired a drone that would target PFV drones and could destroy ones with even near misses. Essentially an AI controlled FPV RPG round.
There will be a lot of dudes from both sides of this that will come back and be absolutely fucked because of drones. Its no longer waiting for the suspected IED or some to take a shot at you, now you're actively being hunted by a machine piloted by some guy in a bunker with an FPV headset.
That first blast really shows how both sides have really advanced as far as what sort of carriers and armor they’re running. Funny how we’re essentially going back to the Iraq war style of armor. Full body protection, shoulders, neck and groin. The new systems look pretty solid though. I actually got one of the newer Russian carriers, it’s a crye CPC clone but a pretty nice one. You can add or remove your neck, groin and all. I follow some channels on here that are RU or UKR guys on the front and they’ve mostly moved to this sort of setup. The Russian military recently showed up their new uniforms, camo and kit also. Seemed interesting. The camo was like a pencott/EMR crossover.
Really does look like the classic 'battlefield'...echo's of WW1 but with a modern twist....all changes and nothing changes. As some have said below- a shotgun would come in handy!
"all changes and nothing changes".- EXACTLY! IMO there will be a mass counter weapon against these things. Their commonality and lethality will be minimized. Its just a new weapon and like all weapons a counter will be emplaced..
These drones like this are novel weapons. They are running buck wild with no real counter measures- Plenty of nations are working on counter measures that will make this less common and less lethal. IMO the UKE war has allowed them to reach their apex much too early. Their days are numbered.
That is the Future, no I'm Wrong its the Present and is now the Norm for Henceforth. That will be the Ever present Threat on the Battlefields ( and here in the US)
IMO drone effectiveness wont last. This is a new battlefield tech and counter measures are already in play to make them far less effective and far less common.. IMO when it comes to the numbers and effectiveness we see now, their days are numbered ....
@@Ivarr.Bergmann.Alaska I agree, it only is now happening but actual man portable jammers are becoming commonplace and thats enough to deter drones allegedly. However i think the bigger problem is for the civillians who dont have access to those jammers. But back on point, we are seeing bigger systems being put on tanks lately that completely jam these drones. even the earlier models of these thwarted many drone attacks. In the future we will definitely see jammers with longer range and more effectiveness being implemented on a wider scale for every asset.
@Evasion.Survival.Alaska good points. I haven't been keeping fully up on the Ukr/Rus war to be honest. Tired of war full stop as I get older. Now both my sons want to join the army, and I don't want them to go die for a small hat tribe of "chosen" people. I feel the military tech has come along way since I left in 2008!
Scary stuff. I still don't know how to counter this effectively other than lots of camo nets, and plenty of good eyes with bird shot. The camo nets won't hid you, but they will foul up the props. Or at least thats according to one video I have seen. Still don't know anything other than if you know signals and have the proper tech skills you can shut these down. Takes a lot of knowledge and money though... Scary stuff.
Indeed.. IMO drone effectiveness wont last. This is a new battlefield tech and counter measures are already in play to make them far less effective and far less common.. IMO when it comes to the numbers and effectiveness we see now, their days are numbered .... all in all its a suck fest when it comes to these looking for you.
@@Ivarr.Bergmann.Alaska I know our military has had counter measures for these kinds of drones for more than a decade now, and so have the french and the russians. Not like the russians are smart enough to use them effectively. But none of that matters for the evader as the evader is not US, french, or Russian military. So yes. Suck fest indeed.
