Anyone else as disappointed as me that movies never really convey a similar amount of desperation in extremely close CQC? Like fast reactions, barely shouldering guns before firing, kicking away from angles so fast you lose balance and basically throw yourself into walls and debris. I don't think I've seen any movie that has people throwing themselves in and out of engagements with enough commitment that it makes me actually feel the amount of desperation that I'd feel watching real combat footage. Amazing work, absolutely incredible job on this.
Theres a few scenes in this where someone rounds a corner and is immediately shot for it, which seems pretty realistic. Also nobody is immune here...huge casualties on both sides.
It's because movies have to accommodate wide audiences, and many people aren't able to follow multiple rapid actions and so many people like this. Even something like the Avengers fights are very carefully planned out for people to digest with obvious moves and coordination with the set, lighting, etc. It's not a positive or negative you just can't get the average person to digest everything happening here.
While i do agree with your sentiment especially in mainstream movies, you actually do see it here, even if a bit hard to do so (cuz of camera purposefully being shaky) with a BEAR pmc launching himself into a door and falling into the room so he can take the angle. Not to ramble too much, but RAID has definitely conveyed a lot of the chaos that exists in combat, and more importantly in CQC.
Trust it will be they work with video games...the guns sounds visuals and how they work are amazing...I wouldn’t mind a movie from them and I’d pay(love movies like this)
The true masterpiece of this is how suddenly your life can end. Just putting rounds down range and suddenly your best buddy is face planting beside you. Almost even more surreal is how they can spend 0 time it's just "He's gone" and move on. Harsh world we live in, even harsher for soldiers. RIP to all and BSG you have done incredible work here
Mitch Talbot if it was Hollywood they would have had a final goodbye with blood dribbling from their mouths and sad music playing. But that is Hollywood. This feels real. Win the firefight and then sort your shit out. Good job boys. Fantastic series.
I want to talk about a fact that I haven't seen any people mentioned yet: the casting choice. The actors do a fantastic job portraying a group of elite fighters. They're not like the generic "special force" with their shiny guns as you'd see in normal military action shorts or even full length film. These guys look like they were brought back from a real war, they're tired, dirty, and the look in their eyes, that thousand yard stare, they absolutely nailed it
Yes, because there are people who are ready to show how it happens and all the dirt that is there in the frames.. and that it's not Rambo and bulletproof vests often do not always save from death.. and there are no side that will not suffer losses.. this is very well shown here As for casting, many have already starred in films.. take the commander of the search group, he was filmed... By the way, the film "sliding" 2013 Russian film, also from this team shooting this series.. recommend.. And so, here it is necessary to understand that all of them in reality and so served.. in a number of Lee additionally play a role.. although it obliges them.. since in hot spots, the conversation and actions are identical in practice.. To sum up, this is the series that reflects the moments that most other movies are afraid to show... because there is a factor of patriotism.. and everywhere they try to show their side prevailing on the other.. what is not here.. "here there are trained military fighting with the same trained military" and everywhere there are actions that have caused posletsviya because of the choice.. So this is the only series that gives a breath of fresh air among this mess of stamped-under-the-cap movies and series that display nothing but patriotism and invulnerability of one side or another..
@@mpkid5 Agreed... you can tell by there weapons handling/manipulation and movement they know WTF they are doing... Actors do not have enough time to train to get these movements down.... YEARS of experience!
The gunfire sounds are on point through the 3 episodes inside, and out. Grenades don't send people 10 ft back. Muzzle flashes are actually realistic. The Confusion of battle is also very realistic. I give all this a 10/10. For quite a bit though USEC's kicking Bears asses with overwhelming firepower and explosives. I want to know how this pans out in the 4th episode though. The backstory and development is realyl impressive even if 90% of the actual episodes are comprised of gunfire and explosions. Really nice!
Only thing, the only thing is USEC would be all exec infantry or tier 1 guys and they have music blaring and fuck all sentry out. No listening post. and consequently get penetrated like Justin Beiber in a supermax prison.
@@HaloDude557 Bruh look up short barreled 7.62x39 muzzle flash on youtube, or "7.62x39 krinkov with muzzle-break". The 7.62x39 cartridge is relatively good at performing out of a short barrel as compared to other intermediate cartridges like 5.56 or 5.45, but there's no way around turning a lot of your bullet's energy into light and sound when you take off a third of the barrel
@@alexbiggs9208 bruh, muzzle flash is mostly relevant at night. These guys are shooting in the daylight. The consistency and volume of muzzle flashes is ridiculous. It's like some 12 year old copy pasted a bunch of stock images in After Effects.
Well pride and honor might still motivate going into a hell like that, still men with real flesh and blood fighting. Now if a drone strike wipes out an entire building full of men, that's just slaughter and the drone operator is never in danger.
Really liked the detail of the entangled fights where they have to shoot an injured opponent who is holding onto them. The bullets being too fast to respond until several rounds have impacted pays attention to how chaotic gun battles are. Plus the bullets and frags not sending bodies flying, but dropping them like dead weight is pretty realistic too. Also the guy inadvertently kicking the grenade down the stairs towards one of his teammates depicts the split second decision making that goes on in fights.
Never have I seen such a beautifully orchestrated firefight. Every moment seems crucial, every decision dire. Every time I watch one of these i find something that i wold have never thought of before. Such as the USEC falling on the individual who was on the stairs after shooting him. And the seemingly "minor" injury from a shotgun round to the hand/wrist becoming more debilitating and crucial to attend to as the firefight grows on, up until the last minute when we see him frantically applying a tourniquet and reloading his last magazine with one arm as the USEC reinforcements roll in. Another great detail was the scene right before this, where he is asking where the other BEAR is wounded. We see/hear a grenade thrown from the USEC but they do not acknowledge it in time. This is also seen earlier on the stairset when he has to be told the grenade is at his feet before he realizes it and kicks it. Overall I really wish the people who produced this would be part of a longer and in-depth retelling of a historical war event, I know they would absolutely kill it.
They need to stop breaking the 180 degree rule though. Shit is already hard enough to follow as is with every room and character looking basically the same
@@yellowsaurus4895 I think thats the general point of the video. they're trying to really push across a feeling of extreme confusion and chaos, which is present in literally everything. from the dull color palette giving off a sense of similarity between everyone, to the audio peaking and visual glitches. If you pay attention to the story, Skif is the main villain and liability. The main character is consequence. Sure he was right about the MG nest and the RPG but that's it. When they got visual confirmation that his squad is dead, they should have pulled back, but he decided he would allow emotions to rule over him and wanted go on a personal suicide mission vendetta. You can say the others could have just gone for exfil, but that's not how units work, they stick together. He forces them to push into a USEC nest with limited men and low ammo, then when they should have pulled back like Voron ordered he forces them to push through the hallway with no mags. taking down maybe 4 USECs the entire fight. It makes sense that the CO left him behind at Infil, he would have just led his own unit into a death trap all the same.
ive heard that russians have a very deep sense of loyalty to each other, and that this kind of decision would be made in real life even, similar to the united states "no man left behind" mantra
Ehhhhh, kinda. Skif has his goal and he was willing to go it alone. Even said he'd stick with the unit until they got out, then would come back by himself. However, to get the information they got, they lost 2 of their own unit. Skif, through tactical decisions and call outs, has shown he's capable and at least cared about the unit he was with while searching for his own. He tells them his own reason to not leave, and the guys who originally HATED hearing "Skif is right," said it themselves against their commander. I think they got tunnel visioned against the USEC, and in the end here, Skif fucked them over. They SHOULD have exfiled. But as a player of the game, that is a consequence of greed that has probably happened to us all.
This is just like in reality how the gun sounds indoors, how they make the dust smoke n shit. Absolutely amazing and realistic. Way better than a 200 million € budget movies. Been in army and trained indoors CQC. Realistic as it is. 10/10
I have to say, the gunfights in this feel like they have a proper choreography to them. As in, they contain a lot of smaller, interesting events that make the entire gunfight memorable as more than just "a gunfight scene". Most shooting scenes in movies, even realistic ones, have an outcome that feels predetermined once you've seen enough fictional war movies. Most movie gunfights just seem to serve no greater purpose than to look cool and determine who wins in that scene. The gunfights here really feel like they don't care about winners and losers; there are simply casualties, and whoever takes the most will either surrender or run. In this case, it looks like BEAR got fucked by an unknown force (I didn't see any insignia) after fucking up the USECs, landing them firmly into a lose-lose scenario where everyone got hurt and witnessed extreme loss, and nobody gained anything. I think this is the first gunfight where I really felt the power of the firearms, like when a guy in the back starts shooting past his friendlies I just really hope no one gets shot in the back by accident. In a normal action movie, I know shit like that won't happen. Or if it did, it would be to serve a specific narrative purpose, perhaps to set up a bad guy arc or even just to set up a joke later. In these gunfights, the actions all serve to try to eliminate the enemy and keep your comrades alive, and it is chaotic and intense, and Battlestate has done a great job of capturing the raw power of a firearm and the dangers of this unique type of combat (small unit force against force, without any command structure or extrinsic objective). Awesome to watch, can't wait for more!
Second your comment 100%, also the 'unknown force' in the end was another USEC element, that basically served as an ad-hoc QRF for the team trapped in the changing room. You can hear them requesting SITREP from the last USEC who shot Voron and was killed/injured by Skif. The first man of that QRF (who double-tapped Barmaley with a shotgun) is the same guy who was first seen reloading his shotgun (while another team member was trying to call in their overwatch) and who managed to escape up the stairs from Skif and Barmaley earlier, injuring Borz in the process.
@@zeroalpha5052 Yeah the USEC's were confirming hostiles over coms before their last friendly contact in the bathrooms was killed, therefore they then grenaded it and stormed the room.
@@glennlittle6356 the one USEC mentions SPYKE is in the room, which sounds like a callsign for a VIP to me, probably the guy with the case chained to his arm, so they were forced to retake the room instead of simply retreating
I totally agree. It's very rare, that guns in games or movier sound so powerful in indoor combat. Guys doing sound did a splendid job, large field for foley specialist to play. Intense, memorable, chaotic and raw. Love it.

You have to consider that they can do what ever they want in RU-vid Shorts, but as soon as someone big as Netflix comes in they wont have the same freedom anymore as they have now. Simple as that. And Russian Movies or Shows arent well received because of the simple fact that they are Russian. Have you ever heard of Come and See, Attraction 1 and 2, Salyut 7 or Spacewalker ? Crossek yeah but you could do so much to stay alive longer, by eating, drinking, bandaging, etc. in real life having a blown stomach wouldn’t be a great experience
Nextflix would demand battlestate surrender creative license to their board of directors and we’ll see Trans BEARs, a USEC in a gay relationship with a scav and dialogue about how firearms ownership is wrong because Tarkov would be a whole lot safer with gun control.
Well half the time I can't tell who is who.... This portrays exactly how firefights in tarkov end up for me and my squad as well. We all die... sometimes to friendly fire.
thats how it is irl. if youre going in a room, youre nutt to butt the entire time. theres no splitting up. the second rounds start flying in-doors, dust kicks up everywhere. gunfire is piercing. everything you do is muscle memory. they did a great job with this. far better than any hollywood producer. six years of security forces. this shits fkn intense.
Professor Goat I read somewhere that some of the guys in this were ex SF and that really shows. I’m not sure how they produced this, whether it was one take for the majority of gunfights or not, but the way at least the BEARs function in those intense situations looks like all of them were military/contracting at some point in their lives, you can’t teach actors that kind of fluidity with a squad, they just acted off of muscle memory and engrained knowledge of what to do in those situations. This mini series is a masterpiece really, it captures the extreme intensity and severe loss on both sides of an isolated conflict with scary realism, far better than ABSOLUTELY ANY big media/Hollywood movie I’ve ever seen to date. Hats off to battlestate, this thing is a work of art
I absolutely loved this series. It was so stunning to me just how damn realistic and immersive these scenes were. The attention to detail such as the sounds, the smoke and the utter chaos is right on the money.

USEC isnt nessecarily only US. Its all western countries. More like ex-NATO guys including british, french, american and other countries. But yeah, since it is a russian game, USEC are probably the aggressors and BEAR are the good ones. But that being said: its more like not that a specific country is "bad" in this scenario, since USEC is only the private military hired by the Terra Group. So yes, they contain probably only westerners but not specifically US only. I think battlestate games did a good job not saying "US is bad and they are to blame". They just say "USEC is private military that contains westerners only". That way nobody in the west feels like they get shit on. If you compare that with CoD... its a different approach since there the russians are cleary evil baddies
Technically speaking, the baddies are the corporation, that hired USEC, but by the book this is correct. Though actually I expect to see some alliance of convenience in the future now as both sides are really wrecked each other.
USEC are 100% the bad guys lol. TerraGroup is doing shady as fuck research and the Russian government attempted to investigate it, but USEC PMCs fought them, which caused the Russian government to call in Bear PMC to fight USEC, which led to the contract wars destabilizing the Norvinsk region Special Economic Zone, prompting the Russian government and the UN to seal off the region, trapping UN peacekeepers, Internal Troops of Ministry of Internal Affairs, and of course, scavs and PMCs within. Literally just the armed goons of a company conducting potentially illegal research. That being said, their clothing choices from Ragman are significantly better.
