this has taskmaster energy and i love it Y’ALL THE FULL EPISODE IS ON DROPOUT WHICH HAS A FREE TRIAL AND THE WHOLE CATALOGUE IS A 10/10 really I can’t recommend it enough
my dream cast of an American taskmaster, should they try again, definitely has brennan in the line up (and of course I would put everyone from dropout/d20 but we gotta have some variety lol)
@@michellemaryroy6777 I don’t know who the taskmaster’s assistant could be, preferably imo an up-and-coming comic, but the taskmaster HAS to be conan o’brien
0:13 It's important to note for those who don't have Dropout that *this wasn't a jumpcut*. Lou heard Sam's intro and IMMEDIATELY smashed that guitar without a hint of hesitation.
They knew when they brought Lou in for this episode the chaos it would unleash. This whole thing is a masterpiece, the twists, the players, Brennan's "Your not getting a joke out of me until I escape!", hidden rooms, and useless camera people. Absolute work of art.
Brennan is the hyperfocused middle child looking for everything, Lou the youngest breaking shit and Siobhan is the oldest sister figuring out the riddles.
*SPOILERS* The prize to the episode being free tickets to an escape room is just the right thing to absolutely destroy their spirits. Then Sam dancing while everyone else just looks sad and sullen until they start beating him up is such a perfect ending. Simply wonderful from start to finish.
escape rooms having secret doorways is something i’ve come to expect, but forcing everyone to look out the window at the freedom they don’t have in order to drive a remote control car is fucking GENIUS
The fact that this was Siobhan’s first game changer episode is crazy. But also after binge watching so much dimension 20 I understand why these three work so well (and chaotically) together
fun fact, it was supposed to be Brennan, Aabria Iyengar, and Matthew Mercer, so all of the dungeon masters would’ve been Sam’s prisoners! But Matt got Covid I think and Aabria couldn’t make it. It would’ve been amazing but then we wouldn’t have these three!
@@erinelizabeth1410 I'd have loved to have seen that, but I can't imagine this episode with anyone else! Especially not after the first 30 seconds with Siobhan's calm "I found some cards" and Lou's SMASH
Siobhan's first time in Game Changer and she's trapped in a room without smoke alarm with two of the most chaotic Dropout cast members. Please come back for more episode, Siobhan 😂
still love that Siobhan’s first episode involved being locked in a fire hazard room and surrounded by Brennan and Lou smashing things with reckless abandon
The people in charge of the subtitles deserve all the awards for this episode. "Sam laughing at the mayhem and carnage he's unleashed" is just the perfect encapsulation for the chaos of that moment.
“you will be remembered” was a very accurate threat given the hilarity of that moment. We all remember the unhelpful camera person who decided they’d rather do their job than fight the bourgeoise because humor has seared it into our brains
I love how Lou's first instinct was to break that guitar he had no clues pointing towards it (that I know of) he just saw something expensive and went "alright let's get busy".
Genuinely shocked that once they found Sam in the toilet he didn't hit them with a 'I've been here the whole time!'...might have been the tipping point to actually beating him up though
I mean, he basically did! "I've been here the whole time!" is what opened the secret room, so they could all go in, which had to have been when he went back and snuck into the bathroom.
@@auratheva The foreshadowing is that he stopped directly interacting with them on screen once they went in the secret room. He just started doing little physical reactions. I imagine that what they did was switch to the pre-taped silent reactions video when all of them went inside the secret room and thus weren't watching the screen.
I love how Brennan automatically went laser-focused when presented with the puzzle. His "You want bits? You let me out of this room for bits!" line was [chef's kiss] perfection and also the biggest of moods.
Idk why but the one of the funniest parts for me is brennan kicking the wall through. Like his technique was perfect. Like all this time when he said he was at LARP camp was he actually at Army bootcamp?
lou shouting BABA BOOEY BABA BOOEY lives in my head rent free i think about it all the time. the sheer lizard brain joy of getting to smash something as hard as he can. truly the guy ever
Lou in this episode is instantly iconic - his "Fight the bourgeoisie!!" lives in my head rent free, and, having a pair of timberlands, say to myself "Timbs, bitch!" whenever I wear them 🤣🤣
the "and you will be remembered!!" bit made me cry laughing the first time I watched this and I still wheeze every time I watch the episode or see a clip of it lmao
No no, that’s what’s I thought too at first but it wasn’t! It was a live feed for the majority of the episode. By the time they realize they need the paper clip and come back out of the section in the wall, they’ve replaced the live feed with a prerecorded video and Sam has gotten into place. You can hear Lou talking to TV-Sam when they come out of the wall and after they find him in the bathroom there’s a clip (that was cut short) of Lou saying he was talking to TV Sam and was confused by his lack of responses. I assume they’ll release a behind the scenes vid like they have for all the other GC episodes this season showing Sam getting into place, but you can see a window in the bathroom that must be how he climbed in without them knowing.
A rage room combined with an escape room would be such a good idea if only it could be resettable in a sustainable way. The desire to smash a vase on the ground is so strong sometimes.
i love that when they finally cut the wire there were less than 2 minutes on the clock which makes the water break they took before addressing the out of order situation even more special
They gotta bring back that camera person for a later season and just have them be very catty with Lou and he's all like "What is their deal? Did I cut in line infront of them at panera or something?"
Omg yeah imagine if they did a callback episode and included a lot of peripheral people from past episodes or something like idk, Tony fucking Hawk, or this camera person who May or May Not be Remembered. That'd be hilarious
OK that's an episode, free reign of the studio and you get a point whenever you spot a callback to a previous episode. Players Lou, Ally and Brennan. Episode opens with each player having a bin put infront of them and Sam just says "your time starts now." And walks off while the screen changes into a timer. The players roam the studio and game room grabbing things and putting it in their bins but it's only stuff from game changer that gets them a point. They can pull stuff out of the bins to experiment with how the scoring works, stuff relating directly to their opponents is worth extra points. Throughout the studio there's phones and laptops just looping game changer episodes as a hint.
what a fucking episode for siobhan to premiere on, holy shit edit: also brennan's KICK at 1:44??? powerful. that man is so scary and i mean this with nothing but admiration
Sam tying himself up in the bathroom after subjecting them to all of that may not have been his best idea. Can imagine he was worried they'd actually beat the sh*t out of him when they found him. He *heard* them smashing everything and screaming!
I love how. Before the game even officially starts. Lou welds the guitar like a freaking battle axe. And was ready to break crap before sam even said anything
every time sam starts promoting the new season saying how it's their best and most insane one yet i remember this and just think to myself... it isn't. it simply cannot be. nothing will ever be funnier or more insane to me personally than lou brennan siobhan locked in a surprise escape room. NOTHING.
not only did sam painstakingly create the craziest clues and the most intense minigames for this episode (season finale?) but there's now official game changer LORE that I can't wait to see more of.
After seeing clips of this finale, I finally bought the app. Totally worth it. Also, the panic and desperation in all their voices, begging the camera person to kick the car was so real.
Can't wait to see the behind the scenes on this episode. I have my suspicions, but I'm curious how they pulled of the Sam switcharoo, because he definitely was at the podium for a majority of the episode.
I actually think i may know when it happened. When they all entered the room with the red lights the door clocked shut for a bit. I think during that time Sam and a crew member quickly came in and after being restrained the crew member exited the room.
You can see that his tie changed colors (from dark blue to orange) on the clips after they went in the small room. Plus he never spoke, just did funny faces, so they absolutely put on prerecorded footage and switched during that part
So i wonder when Sam got into the room, cuz it seems he reacts to the group on the video feed. Maybe clever on the fly editting where he resets to a position and they use clips that all start and end in that position.
it's actually explained in the "cut for time" at the end of the season, when they were all in the small room behind the paintings, sam quickly left the stage and made his way into the bathroom, while the video switched from a live feed to a prerecorded one. i believe something like the color of his tie (and his lack of responsiveness) gives away when its no longer live but prerecorded.
YOU CAN WATCH THE FULL EPISODE ON DROPOUT. which has a free trial if you wanna do that. The warning is *not* that serious and I do not care if you watch the video without seeing the episode. I’m not the boss of you. the warning I put was meant to be humorous. just know that there’s spoilers for basically every single thing in the episode. half the fun of game changer is finding out what the game is along with the players, and i made this video immediately after the episode was released, and that’s why i put a warning. it could’ve been shorter but I was feeling frazzled lol. I would change it but it’s too late for that
Honestly ya'll, a subscription to Dropout TV is so totally fucking worth it. All of Game Changer, Um Actually, Make Some Noise, and some of the best DnD content on the internet right now with Dimension 20 and it's spinoffs. cannot recommend enough
