Turtle Mountain ascends from the sprawling Manitoba prairies that envelope it, giving rise to an environment of lush deciduous forests bisected by over 200 lakes and wetlands. The Oskar Lake Canoe Route links 19km of waterways through Turtle Mountain Provincial Park. A handful of campsites and even a rustic cabin are available for paddlers making for a perfect 1-3 day backcountry canoe trip.

Thank you for featuring our wonderful little canoe route. You showcased it very nicely. I live very near Turtle Mountain and this is my go-to canoe spot for day paddles and overnighters. I enjoyed the video very much. Thanks again!!!!

I can't believe you visited my province, and the damn notifications were off for some reason :( Glad you enjoyed TM, but...if you ever get up around the ON/MB boarder again, in the Whiteshell Provincial Park you will find the Mantario Canoe Route (also part of the Trans Canada Waterway) It has a 63km backpacking route I've documented 4 times, but the canoe route is absolutely kicker, with tunnels and all! Thanks for visiting Manitoba, and sharing your Dash!!! - Davey.

I enjoy this channel so much. Watch it with my husband and this weekend we were camping in our small travel trailer. It rained in the early morning so we watched this channel while enjoying our coffee and danish in the camper and it was very enjoyable to watch the outdoor while we woke up.

The thing about Brad is…. You could end that with 1,000 things. But the thing about Brad is that he doesn’t do this for the views or money or fame he just does it to share the experience and that comes through by comparison to other channels. Also he is INCREDIBLY experienced and one day will be a legend. With his map books he’s really almost there. I have the utmost respect for this guy. All the rest are glitz and glamour. P.S. His dad’s channel is awesome too!!

Really interesting to see what a canoe trip is like in Manitoba! Much different from the trips usually shown from Northern Ontario.

Another great canoe route is the Manigotagan River. Goes through the escarpment and has some challenging rapids and great history. Not everything in Manitoba is flat but it is all friendly.

What layup is that boat? You’re in some rough conditions a lot and I wonder if that is tough stuff or t formex or just Kevlar with a gel coat. Nova craft isn’t common where I am so curious.

@@ExploreTheBackcountry you guys kept me relatively sane through the COVID lockdown in New Zealand 👍 Canada is awesome, my buddy just came back from a month there and absolutely loved it. I’ve moved to tropical North Queensland, Australia if you’re ever passing…

excited to see a Manitoba trip but I prefer northern Manitoba where the poison ivy is rare and the Canadian Shield makes shorelines of rock nice for scenery . Glad to see the route filmed though so I know I don’t have to go check it out.

I've gotta agree, love the Canadian Shield, but this one was different and a neat change of pace at the very least. Fit our road trip plans for a nice break and the oaks were pretty stately. One day we'll get to Northern Manitoba. Have eyed a few rivers....

Wait, you are in Manitoba, and you are not fishing???? Now that is a waste of precious fossil fuel.
