This revolution in watchmaking is a new way of thinking and tackling the problem of regulating the release of power from the mainspring! The 26 key parts swiss lever escapement is now gone. Replace by a single piece monocrystalline silicon oscillator. This watch beats at 40hz! 10 TIMES a normal swiss watch which is 4hz! What are you thoughts?

Check out how I regulate swiss movements like the ETA 2824-2 and SW200-1 HERE: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WL0f5LlViYc.html -Falling

Great video! I can't believe this watch/movement didn't get more attention. Everyone's going gaga for the Bel Canto right now, but this seems like an even more significant development, and in a similarly surprising price range.

This major improvement is quite impressive. 🤩😎 One of the best improvement in watch industry. This is a step higher than any other advancement since the balance wheel was created. FC deserve big kudos for it. This is not recognised as it should be. 👏👏👌

Impressive! FC has accomplished what Zenith could not get right. Many of us are interested in watchmaking from an engineering perspective. As such, it is nice to see alternatives to the balance wheel as the oscillating body defining periodicity in a watch. New technologies such as this one make watchmaking and watch collecting exciting and fascinating! Bravo, FC!

It’s almost like the Spaceview’s 214 tuning fork with crazy Zenith Cal 3019 36000 VPH kinda power of mechanical movement. That’s kinda crazy thinking it’s a mechanical watch albeit an automatic, but still... if they were to make a manual of that 1 ... that gotta be good.

Well Spring drive doesn't tick it glides this one actually ticks but looks like it's gliding because it's ticking 80 times per second. They call them semi oscillations. I'm just calling them ticks.

I love the ideas for new escapements, the Swiss lever has been around so long and it just works. George Daniels co-axial was one of the major advances during the later halve of the last century but took many years to come to mass production by Omega. I love the idea of this new escapement and I'm more than OK with COSC limits but I think I'll wait a little before considering a purchase to see how reliability goes. More interesting is the cost of this escapement should come down as volumes increase in theory at least. I would not rule one out sometime in the future if all looks well.
@EscapementWatch
@EscapementWatch 2 года назад
co-axial is a little disappointing. 25,200 slow beat. It was designed initially to run frictionless at 18000 vph with no oil and longer service. But they sped it up and added oil, making it just a more complicated more parts to break slower sweep. After years they probably figured this is the most reliable speed/durability compromise. No actual evidence yet that the co-axial is superior to the swiss lever. But the Si hairspring really improved its accuracy and made it antimagnetic.
@anthonystevens8683
@anthonystevens8683 2 года назад
@@EscapementWatch You are correct that the 3 had Omega watches may run at 25200 vph (possibly to increase power reserve?) however the chronograph movement on both the current 9900 (wave dial Seamaster) and older Valjoux 775X based coaxial 3330 (the old discontinued flat dial Seamaster) run at 28800 vph. This has been verified on my timegrapher. I'm not suggesting one is better or worse than the Swiss escapement just a different development. There is a reason that the Swiss lever escapement has lasted so long, it just works :-)
@EscapementWatch
@EscapementWatch 2 года назад
Yes omega experimented with the 28,800vph in the past but settled on the slower rate now. No one but Omega truly knows why, I've read people complain about reliability and that's what forced them to, some say it was for power reserve but I don't buy that. I think for something designed to run at 18k its a reliability issue, as power reserve can be fixed by increase mainspring size and barrel easy. And you can keep the luxurious sweep to compete with rolex which is omega's target audience. The coaxial, some say it is a failed experiment but great idea. Omega marketing makes it sound like the gift from the heavens! I rate it below the swiss lever escapement personally. Hope they can modify, re-engineer and improve in future versions because it is a nice differentiating factor for them in the market.

I like this oscillator concept a lot and I hope they put it into other models. There are three things holding me back from buying this piece. 1) There are other brands and models in it's price bracket that sit higher on my list of wants. 2) I'm not tracking down limited editions and paying full pop because it's artificially limited. FC is not a full MSRP brand to me. 3) I already have a Raymond Weil Maestro Petite Seconde that has a very close aesthetic. This wouldn't add anything aesthetically to my collection. It would just displace something that's near enough identical in style. Other than that, I'll keep an eye on FC to see if they introduce a model that can move higher on my list.

If this technology stays proprietary to FC and helps the brand establish its heritage (since it's quite a young brand) I think this will allow FC to more quickly garner the industry respect that deserves. I don't want to see this tech in every brand, since I still have a soft spot for traditional watches, but as and FC owner, I do want the brand to grow into something that stands out too.

It is patented so should be a good 25 years before anyone can copy this exact system. But they can make a similar idea of their own anytime if they want

Really impressed with this movement. I want to learn more about it. As usual, FC did a superb job on the dial. For a modern watch, a little small by my standards. It would be nice to see a 46 mm or better come out. Good to see they included a date. I’m sure future models will add a day and 24 hour hand.

I think for a dress watch 46mm is a bit too big no? Maybe 42mm could be the sweetspot for a larger variant imo. I have a 6.5" wrist so a 38-40mm is actually perfect for a dress watch.

Guilloché is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning. As for PRX they did not do a silicone one piece escapement oscillator.

I'm amazed this movement has gotten so little attention. I think it's because FC put it in a Breguet style design that looks 100 years old, and clashes badly with the open window to the escapement. FC has impressive chops, but they are terrible designers. They have a perpetual calendar steel sports watch that's a fraction of the cost of the big players, but nobody cares about it because it's so incredibly dull looking. They need to poach some designers from Oris who can show them how to make dials that are actually interesting to look at.
@EscapementWatch
@EscapementWatch 2 года назад
It is kind of their thing and the whole reason they started. To make classic affordable quality swiss watches. The founders loved high end classics but could not afford them and thought that should change. That being said they will be making sportier watches in the future with this movement. I think the dial has tons of detail and is a beauty!
@WouterZtube
@WouterZtube 2 года назад
Such an impressive movement, too bad the finishing on the holder of the silicon is poorly executed. Also the guilloche on the dial is stamped, not engraved. If they'd gone the extra mile in finishing the watch would be a stellar 10k watch, instead of a 5k novelty.
@PoltergeistWorks
@PoltergeistWorks 2 года назад
Disagree, nothing is poorly executed here you're just looking at an insane macro shot. If you see a 10k watch under that magnification you will see many imperfections, these are not the type of watches you admire under a magnifier. You want a Patek for that. This is a very impressive watch and the fact that it's priced the way it is for something unique is even more impressive.
