My favorite thing about Futurama is how the future isn't going to turn into some dystopia or utopia, but way more mundane where things are more or less the same even though technology has greatly advanced.
@@HughAverageHomoManPeople seem to live to 160+, a dead end job can afford an apartment in New York, 2 lincons for every Napoleon. Doesn't seem to bad.
Like looking back at ancient civilizations and seeing how similar some are to the modern day. Rome, China, Japan, India, Mali, Kongo, Mexico city, the ottomans, Egypt.
@@rtyuik7 I say this with tongue in cheek, but this comment has exactly the same energy as the henchman 24/sticky notes in library books he was talking about. :P
Leaving passive aggressive sticky notes in the library is an amazing way to describe people who try to nitpick every little thing in stories. Trying to read a book everything’s going fine then BOOM! Someone leaves a condescending note saying how unrealistic the world is. I can’t wait for you to get to the episode where Cubert gets introduced, that’ll be fun on a bun!
Dude I got a copy of a Richard Dawkins book at a Mormon thrift store and there were a million little reputations scrawled in the margins. Didn't even have the decency to use a sticky note. Just wrote on the pages with pen, the dork
To be honest to defend the Bender saying "I can quit anytime I want", I thought that was a joke reference to how alcoholics will say they could quit whenever they want but they actually can't (not easy at least) and that as you know a robot has to keep drinking so technically he's an alcoholic😹... See I helped to return consistency, Bender was making a joke not actually saying he could quit whenever 😸 got your back skeleton starface Man 😼
I've said it before on another one of your videos, but I've gotta reiterate that I really appreciate your dedication to focusing on the narrative and storytelling aspects of these shows as opposed to going down the nitpick/soapbox route that I see so many other animation review channels follow. I think people can get so wrapped up in trying to make the world fit their own logical/moral mold that they lose sight of the fact that the end goal is to make people laugh by telling stories in this fun, zany reality that the writers and showrunners have cooked up. Your criticisms are always fair, well thought-out/researched, and even-handed. I love that you don't assume laziness/malice on the part of the writing staff, and if you ever come across something where laziness/malice IS the case, I have full faith that you'll present a solid argument. From one English major to another, great job, man! Really looking forward to seeing your channel grow and take off. Any success you have coming your way is well-earned.
oh crap were going through futurama now? lets goooo edit: your rant about people not being able to laugh at the inconsistency's rang so true to me everyone i try to talk about futurama with always tells me that bender would rust either way if he drank or not. exhausting
I like to think that the early installment weirdness is less inconsistency and more fry hasn't got to know people he's going to be with very well and that if you really wanted to you could change your career even if it's through sci Fi bullshit. I'm so excited for the newest round of its revival
This show brings me so much joy I hope everyone is enjoying the new hulu episodes it's just one of those shows you can turn on after a long difficult day and get lost in the dumb witty and sometimes smart humor it is for me the happiest and best way to shut my brain off after a hard day
I guess I never paid enough attention, but I just right now noticed the giant hole in Fry's sock as he gets dressed after his encounter with the probulator.
Fucking amazing 24 impression man!! You have GOT to do some venture bros content! I have 0 doubts it’ll become a cult classic in little time at all. Looking forward to more Futurama videos too!!
I was born in 92 so I remember when this came out and I was allowed to watch it because my dad already had me watch South Park with him I liked it better than south Park behivus and but head and family guy.
5:10 Isn't this why Cubert was eventually made (and then that characteristic dropped for something more becoming of a 12 year old actual test tube baby)
bender is a sentient robot who does, in fact, need to consume alcohol. that's it though, and Mom produces a cheap and effective fuel. He doesn't need to drink the stuff he likes, just any sort of fuel. Also, its very clearly a (whats it called?) joke, quoting what many human alcoholics claim about their drinking dependence. It gets made canon later (maybe the same season, at least first 3), but when bender becomes a tea toatler, he picks a non human grade alcohol to sustain himself. I know you brought it up in passing about the um actually science nerds getting dunks, but no person in good faith could claim that Bender's comment there was a short sighted retcon on the writers' part. Bender *doesn't* need to drink, he could quit any time, he did. He can also be powered by any electricity on account of being a robot powered by electricity, it just so happens Farnsworth let the automatons consume alcohol for ease. This happens much later, but bender starts over clocking himself and hooking up to generators that aren't alcohol engines. The bigger retcon about episode 1 Bender is his personality, being a sassy, working class bending unit who became disillusioned with the system to a point of wanting death. A lot of people like to suggest getting a hard reboot in the criminal corner is what changed him to being a petty criminal, but i'd argue one doesnt even need to jump those hoops. His character in ep 1 is a sassy, working class new yorker bending unit that became so upset with society that he wanted to kill himself, why wouldn't he become a narcissistic criminal? As of episode 1, he wasn't the full power burgalarcenarsony jerk-ass we all know, because ep 1 is the fork in the road of his life, where rather than dying and getting recycled into a new bending unit (everything in the year 3000 is recycled, even that sandwich you're eating) he quit his job and joined a bureaucratic pirate crew lol i will not comment on future retcons to bender's past, but idk point being i'm willing to accept a lot about bender got retconned but no way should anyone be smugly suggesting "i don't *need* to drink" is one! edit: Fry helps to "deprogram" Bender, who is just having a mid-life crisis lol
Random question that will most likely be lost in the comments but what is your opinion on them bringing back futurerama? I should probably give mine. I have to say I'm kinda disappointed. Not from what has been shown for the revival so far but just the fact that it exists. Not in a " REEEEEE DONT TOUCH MY FAVORITE SHO ITS PERFECT HIIIIIIIS* crazy fan why. I just think the ending of the series was actually done SO perfectly and was the best ending to any show that bringing it back feel......gross....... I know the show was canceled(UNJUSTLY SO!) and brought BACK multiple times to GREAT success but the actual series finale was just......to perfect....I wont say why because spoilers but it just brought everything to a perfect close. I'm hoping for the best though.
7:33 if you can come out of the video and tell that to my brother in law you will do me a solid (Geez that guy thinks that he is the next Steven Hawkings).
If everything was 100% accurate and suicide booths were made in 2008, then where's my flying car from the Jetsons or actual hoverboard or whatever "Back To The Future" said happened or was supposed to happen! I believe that's probability of the joke!
I actually did manage to escape the confines of work and to an extent duty as well heh; but thats cuz i ended up as someones sugar baby, in a nonsexual nonmaid way where i just get to live like im a kid for the first time in my life
I was worried Paramount might be's bitches :( 5:25 if those people really think they know best why don't they schedule panels at cons where they can explain their views? I'd go lmao
I apologize for the brutally honest criticism, but the cartoon avatar could really use some work. I'm sorry, please don't hurt me! Looking forward to KotH season 2 reviews!
