HBCU’s need to think bigger. They definitely need their own network. Stream online, stream on the apps. Get some talented commentators and show out with it. I’m sure they can find the sponsorship for it. Now is the time since so many non blacks seems to want to support us for any cause so they can look like they care about us!

One site shared by all HBCUs (prevents dividing visitors and acts as the main hub with ALL the traffic) that want to be a part of it, sharing ideas, connections, knowledge, sports and more...but never once have to worry about asking to be put on by other folks.

I really think that all HBCU's should follow JSU's formula. Align themselves with larger than life Hall of Famers that can bring notoriety and resources to their programs. Could you imagine the publicity that could be gained if Alabama State had let's say Michael Irvin supporting them and lending the light of his star to the ASU program? JSU vs ASU would need a larger venue to play in by next season. Things could be so much better if they could see the bigger picture. And Coach Prime is literally offering the blueprint for free.
@Christopher Michael Irving is a big name in sports too. I think he would also draw a crowd, maybe not in the way of Coach Prime, but he’ll definitely draw some excitement. But I agree about not just letting certain people come in for a steppingstone. That’s disrespectful to the schools.
@Christopher 🤨 I don’t believe that Prime wasn’t granted an interview with FSU because there’s a clip of him telling Sheduer that he had been on an interview with FSU. They just didn’t hire him. If I were him, I wouldn’t even want to go to a P5 now. They only want him now because they recognize his influence, and they don’t like the fact that his influence is causing a lot of P5 schools to lose the interest of the top-tier players that they use to have in their back pockets. Why go now, especially if he’s not hurting for money?

In order to do that they have to PAY the networks. Which they cant. When on the other side of things, top D1 schools are the ones getting PAID for a company to broadcast them.
HBCU's over the years tend to be mediocre. Deion Sanders compelled Jackson State to build better facilities and invest more money than usual, which has contributed to their success. ESPN is at Jackson State because of Deion and his accomplishments. ESPN wouldn't even waste their time at other HBCU's. The alumni at these schools need to step up with donations for both academic and athletic facilities.
HBCU League pass! I think it’s wonderful to showcase their programs on every platform. Streaming, CBS, you name it. More views, more eyes. Ultimately, as long as HBCU’s keep pumping out young men that graduate. That’s the main thing. Instead of chasing the fleeting golden NFL ticket.
Of course they want Prime to leave the HBCU scene, they want it back the way it used to be! At every turn, they try to deconstruct any and every entity of black progression!
Your observation is spot on, but let’s all be patient. Coaches Like Prime, Coach Jackson and Coach George, they will eventually force the major media outlets to respect what they are doing. We have to support these brothas at all cost, and the players like Hunter that are coming. Eventually the consistent work will pay off. Before desegregation HBCUs could battle with anyone in the country, we will get back to that with some strong brothas with a vision
The only reason that people are interested in hbcu games is because of coach sanders unfortunately. But, this is a great opportunity for hbcus to showcase their great talent while the iron is hot. Coach prime won't be there forever. Once he leave so does the cameras unfortunately
Yes we should be playing on our own network but you can look at this several ways. 1. Why aren't our own people who have made enough money to make this happen making it happen without gouging the schools. Both could profit. 2. See number 1!!! 3. How long will it take for one of our own that actually cares about seeing the schools profit step up and me this happen? 3. Yes we have a few that are involved currently but not to the tune of putting money into said institutions,it's more for self gain. We should value our institutions as a people even if we didn't attend one. We must come together!!!! Why is this so hard??
Remember when the Big East conference fledged to higher heights in the 80s when coaches got on board to expand their product and CBS Sports and ESPN bought into it thanks to John Thompson, Jim Boeheim, Lou Carnesecca, Rollie Massimino, Dave Gavitt, Whom all played a vital part of that growth.
We spend far too much time and energy concerning ourselves with what THEY care about and not enough caring about ourselves. We go through life bemoaning the fact "they don't like us" well f them - like yourself, but we can't do that because we are too obsessed with getting THEM to like us or feel sorry for us

As a recent NORFOLK STATE Alumni, I really don’t think we deserve a national stage for football. We were horrible this year. Now basketball, that’s another story. We made March Madness for the last 2 years and have played some big names. Some we won and some we lost but we always showed up!

What's happening with Coach Prime isn't new it happens every year, a coach of a smaller program gets hot after his team enjoys unprecedented success gets courted by big name programs that are having problems. This is how you get guys like Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, and James Franklin. It's not meant to be a slight to HCBUs in particular it's usually how things normally progress at most places. I don't think Coach Prime is leaving anytime soon, he believes in the mission of elevating the status of JSU and HBCUs overall. As for Shedeur winning the Heisman, that's not happening when consider who's in front of him and weakness of JSU's schedule compared to the other Heisman candidates it's just not realistic.
The thing that really bothers is that very few Black people that have the resources are not even trying to help build hbcu’s. Ala Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry,Lebron James,Michael Jordan magic Johnson,Dr. Dre etc. All are billionaires but don’t support building hbcu athletics that I know of.

I typically hire 85-100 a year, many of whom are educated and talented black people. I WILL NEVER hire a HBCU grad. I look for people who are comfortable in their interpersonal relationship skills, and not those who have the need to separate themselves.

Good marketing strategies would entice better players to attend HBCU's. Alumni of these schools need to donate financially to their schools. Those who work for large companies and corporations need to appeal to their organizations to support their HBCU. Black people are large consumers of products and services; since we support them, why not ask them to support our causes. While Coach Prime is a game changer for JSU, this may not work as well for all HSBCU's. We have got to get our campuses, athletics facilities and other campus life facilities in top notch shape so that our top athletes would want to attend. You need to be able to offer the best to attract the best.

Hate to say it but if he goes to a power 5, he will be a JAC (just another coach)! He’s making a difference in the black community and some don’t like that. Take an influential leader out of his element and bring him closer to you. His attention will no longer be on his people but on what they want you to focus on.
I think he can be successful but all of what he’s doing now has already been done at a power 5. They have gotten big time recruits, they have state of the art facilities, celebrities come to their games already, and they hire the next big name in the coaching world. @@HBCUSpotlight They did not travel to Jacksonville. The reason I was so upset because it was my Birthday. Down here in Florida there are only 4 HBCU's. Florida A&M and Bethune are the only two that have any name or prominence associated with them. I had never seen the BOOM perform live so I was quite disappointed. I guess they didn't want Bethune to get in that ass.
