I am a TEXAS EX and have 4 degrees from the place. I was cheerleader for the years Earl Campbell was running up and down the field...burnt ORANGE through and through.... To be present at this game will always be a cherished moment in my life. Our crowd was incredible for every play. It's like I had interviewed each and every one of them.... USC was awesome...didn't think we'd ever stop them, until we did. VINCE was (and always will be) our HERO....he did us PROUD!!! Hook'EM Horns!!!
If vince would've have kept his ass at texas one more year we beat florida in the fiesta bowl he wins the heisman and would've been the #1 pick in the draft. And he would never have to play for jeff fisher at all
Jakeob Perry He left early because the Texans had the 1st pick and he wanted to play professionally in his hometown. He did state that he would've stayed another yr had he known the Texans wouldn't have picked him.

Who cares about if they made it in the NFL. These were some of the greatest college players of all time. That fact can never be taken away from any of those players. Best high profile national championship game ever....period...
All those stars - V. Young, Leinart, R. Bush, D. Jarrett, Lendale White, Michael Huff, and who has been the best in the NFL from that game?? A freshman at Texas named Jamaal Charles. Funny how college is not indication of success on the next level.
Bush did win a Super Bowl. I do think that VY was mismanaged by Tennessee. Could have been a great player. Could have at least had as good of a career as Michael Vick.

Have USC just punted the ball on fourth and two then my Texas Longhorns would have started from their own 10 yard line and that would have put more pressure on our offense and less pressure on USC’s defense.
The only thing I never see regarding USC burning the last timeout on the 2 point conversion. They had 12 men on the field, and couldn't get the last man off in time before the ready, so they had to burn it or take the penalty. It was bad for them to be in that position on such a crucial play, but they should call the timeout with 12 men on the field.
