There’s a story about Gable that’s sadly difficult to find copy of, but it’s my favorite one to retell when I’m asked about what it was like growing up in the shadow of Iowa wrestling… When asked if he was pleased with his team’s championship and his 5 individual champions at Nationals in 1986, Gable said “no, I wanted 10 individual champions.”
@wrcarlson1 They wrestle to make themselves happy and in the process they (almost always) earn great traits that carry them through life. And losing is supposed to hurt. Losing a match is supposed to feel like your future is lost. But most of them don't give up do they? Gotta try it man.
I'm JV freshman year. I saw the guy i hated go beyond me. i felt like always one step beneath him i beat him 2 times he beats me 8 times. he is Varsity freshman year. And he is the reason i'm hitting the waits and tearing up my muscles. He is the reason i will be Varsity. (:
I agree i,m no college wrestler, but i have seen wrestlers put in the hard work and determination and they became ncaa champions (Angle, Gable, Schulz)
Brock Lesnar was a Decent/Good College Wrestler, but what made him an NCAA Champion was his overwhelming Strength and conditioning that surpassed many others, he was a good wrestler, but if you gave him the average College Wrestler strength you would have seen that his technique wasn't that great.
im goint to tell the truth!!! with all things being equal.. take it for what its worth!!!!!! from the time i was 8 till bout 17 i was in boxing, i was pretty good!!! solid!!. if i could go back.. id do wrestling!!!!! no doubt about it!!! 8 out of 10 at least, its superior to boxing, less a boxer hits a wrestler when their not ready.. nothing from boxing, its super tough 2... wrestling is just a litle bit different.. ive wrestled with some varsity dudes, an its alien!!
@J3ffHardy16 4-2 whhhhhhhoooooooa big win iowa still won the dual maybe msu wrestlers should get into street fighting where theyre allowed to grab fingers
