Thank you so much for this! My first teacher never really gave me a lot of help learning spiccato, and I've always struggled to understand it. This is so helpful!
This is different and helpful! You don’t focus too much on the very basics but answer the questions that anybody who knows only the basics would get to ask
Excellent, clear explanation! You’re a natural, gifted teacher. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. I’m currently working on Paganini Caprice No. 5 and am using sautille (the fast spiccato you just described) instead of “saltando”. Your insights and help on saltando bowing (also required in the 1st etude of Wieniawski’s Ecole Moderne) will be very much appreciated. Thank you Esther! Warm greetings from St. Petersburg, FL. 🌞🙏🏻
this doesn’t make sense (my violin teacher and my mum says that I have to bounce of the string and move my wrist, not my arm, but I don’t get it cause when I move my hand, my teacher says I have to move my fingers and wrist during spiccato :(
