I bought a second hand Neje 2S Max, (cut down in size :( ) but with the 40640 laser.. a dual diode laser with 12 watt of light output and a consumption of around 40... if the stats are right.. in any case it has waaaaay more power then any cheap 6-10 watt diode i ever used for sure. (stupid aliexpress poo)
i try eveporate the paint layer that acts as etch resist. and etch some foils on different laser power ratings. see what happens !

Could try using compressed air to cool while the laser is burning off the resist. Also having the mylar on aluminum backing plate would help to keep it cool since it would wick the heat away.

hmm yeah i could try some compressed air, normally this laser is used with compressed air but usually only for cutting. this case might be helpfull thanks i might give that a try !

Leuk dat je telkens weer nieuwe productiemethoden probeert om het resultaat te verbeteren. Ongeacht de kwaliteit van het geluid vind ik de folieontwerpen er mooi uitzien.

Try to mix ferric chloride with some aluminium cleaner like Albright or similar. It must dissolve aluminium oxide.

Removing photo resist from pure aluminium and THEN lamintaing mylar to the back and finally etching would be one way to go to make sure the mylar is in mint condition. But a lot of work...

Cant , how would you transfer an etched foil :) also the backside would need etch resist or you end up with no alu at all after etching haha

now you need a water cooled bed for the laser cutter. fix the alu/mylar with heat paste? Thank you for the great content!

I think higher power is etching better because the laser is removing some of the metal. I am betting you need lower power and longer etch time. Another Idea is to use circuit board photo etch to make the resist. the laser may be close enough to UV to activate it.

mylar can be bought in RC plane stores online or on ebay, kapton can be bought on ebay aliexpress but usually is not thin enough. the laminated foils i bought from UKI.co.uk , and other alumnium foils comes from www.aluminiumfolie.nl/ and or normal food stores

No just testing to get as small of a coil with etching. Mostly usefull for making tiny tweeters , or repair of the piega I showed some time ago

i am old school... or retarded haha i use sketchup . i use a 1:10 ratio or even 1:100 since the program is not accurate. i then export to DXF and in cambam i bring it back to 1:1 ratio. and make the gcode for the cnc or laser

thats an option , but it heats the mylar longer as well. so results might be the same

@@joppepeelen Try high power but even higher speed and multiple passes. That's how you reduce charring when laser cutting wood, it should also help manage heating in this application.

Nooit direct in die laser kijken he. Er zijn speciale brillen voor en die heb je ook echt nodig. 1 directe reflectie in je oog en je bent blind.. Just saying 😎

@@joppepeelen Ja er zijn genoeg gekken die zo'n ding zonder bril gebruiken. Heb het zelf met een co2 laser meegemaakt dat door de reflectie delen van het binnenwerk van de kast zijn weg gebrand. 😅 Maar gelukkig ben jij zo slim👍
