In this video, you'll find out what Martin Zender calls people who believe in the false doctrine of eternal torment. Although he's known as the "World's Most Outspoken Bible Scholar," his language--at the Sacramento Concordant Conference--may surprise you. Even Zender's new mother-in-law was shocked, but says she still loves him.

Jesus, you have delivered me from false doctrine of "hell/eternal torment" and I praise your Holy Name for that, thank you for delivering me from a spirit of "religion" my God I am free, free from the chains that have bound me for so long (37 years), I see your Spirit moving to set the captives free, Jesus there are a lot of people commenting here that are still bound, my prayer today in front of God and man is that you will set free all who read my words, Thank you in advance, Amen! Lrothtube, as we look to Jesus to understand the truth for he is the truth. And as he said he only spoke the words his father gave him to speak. So that being said please read the book of John carefully and all the Gospels about prayer. Your prayer was beautiful., But you need to pray to the Father in the name of Jesus not to Jesus. This is not what I say, but this is what Jesus says. It is a warning. It is a safeguard. To keep us from “another Jesus” or “another spirit.” Jesus makes it very clear many many times he said, “ pray to the Father in my name.”

@@kathy4798 The “age abiding (aionian, mistranslated as “eternal”) correction” is letting the impenitent wicked suffer the business end of their own sins, UNTIL they say, “now I know what it’s like to be my victims, and therefore become ashamed of my own actions against them.” For it is written “Your own wickedness shall correct you.” In contrast, there is no “you get (ex:) 20 years” or any other fixed sentence of “serving time” for a lifetime of sin. Well, everyone, the bible doesn't really show eternal conscious torment but, only for certain groups like those who take the mark of the beast (Revelation 14:10-11), the devil, the beast and the false prophet (Revelation 20:10) and possibly the goats who didn't help the least of Jesus' brothers and sisters (Matthew 25:41-46) depending what is meant by eternal punishment. Depending on what is meant by eternal fire in Matthew 25:41 it may well be eternal conscious torment for all unrepentant sinners or those groups I mentioned but I'm not sure. God is good!

I'm finding that every person who believes in universal salvation has done years of studying it far more in depth than anyone refuting it. I believed in eternal hell as easy as a child believes in Santa, however I'm on almost 3 years of deep study and keep being more convinced of universal reconciliation. Yet I'm still in study mode. I don't think anyone comes to this position until they read God's words, meditated on it, searched out the scriptures and root words, prayed continually, and looked equally into all positions and studied church history, and learned God's character through His word. The refuting side offers much less and yes seems cultic, something passed down to be accepted without questioning it and when it's questioned they label you unsaved and a heretic. Just because your want to STUDY it!

I've been a believer if Christ for 45 years, and I really hope Hell is not eternal punishment, BUT scripture is pretty clear. Matthew 25:46, “And {the wicked} will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” The two words translated eternal above are from the same Greek word: aiōnion. It means “eternal” in both. By the way, if you say hell above is NOT eternal, do you also say eternal life above is NOT eternal? They are the same word in one verse. Revelation 14:9-11, “A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on the forehead or on the hand, he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur…And the smoke of their TORMENT rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night..." If a person was annihilated, put out of existence, then "no rest day or night" would not be an issue. By the way the word torment is translated from the Greek word "basanismou" and if you look in a Greek concordance it means torture, pain, torment. It does NOT mean annihilate. By the way, why doesn't the Bible just plainly say, the unbeliever will be ANNIHILATED, and he will NOT suffer for eternity.

5 years later and you stand corrected cool nights.Jesus never came to preach on the eternal(litetal eternal) destiny for mankind if they didn't put there trust in him. He came in part as a passover lamb and warning for judgement that would befall Jerusalem for covenant unfaithfulness. What do we know historically occurs when Gods people are found in willful covenant breaking sin...he gives warning after warning and then arouses an enemy army to come and straighten them out We see this said to the Pharisees and religious leaders in Matthew 23 when Jesus declares that all the righteous blood shed upon the earth from Righteous Abel to Zacharias son of Barachias...Verily I say to unto you All these things shall come upon this generation. He ends by saying "Your houses left to you DESOLATE" If that sounds familiar it should we see the same pattern occur in the books of.Isaiah and Jeremiah

One thing that always struck me as odd when someone looks at me and says "brother, have you heard the gospel? The good news?". It never seemed to be good news to me....your going to hell, and unless you suffer, deny yourself and learn to hate your life to follow Jesus, your going to burn forever...what in the hell is good news about that? It always struck me as odd that we have an enemy that wants to steal, kill and destroy...who wants to see us dead..and the only other option we have is a God...who is always angry with us...who sacrificed his only son so that when he looks at us through him, he is not angry. That if we do not keep the faith, if we screw up, if we ...like myself, were damaged and abused by a cult that ruined our lives and find it almost impossible to feel love....and constantly struggle with talking to and trusting God...even when we beg...will be sent to hell forever if we do not figure it out fast. One wants us dead and the other will kill us if we do not find the character and fortitude to be holy and keep the faith of someone who died over 2000 years ago for us.. ruined my life...and I cant find a way out.

He's absolutely right. For my whole life, I was unable to resolve the doctrine of eternal torment in my mind with the character of God. In 2016 After analyzing John 3, I erroneously came to the more satisfying conclusion that people who do not accept Jesus were never real people at all, that they were never conscious on the inside, and that the devil had been making fake humans since the fall of man. This is what I was believing in the hours before I started to have a brief psychotic episode, by far the most horrific experience of my life for me and for my parents. I literally lost my mind. My mind did recover, and shortly afterwards I became a Christian Universalist.

@@jeffreyandrewwinters3719 As for the interpretation of John 3 about unsaved people not being real people, it really doesn´t matter since I was WAY overanalyzing it in my head and descending into a psychotic break. The Bible never indicates that some people are less real than others. ~~~ Those who believe in eternal torment are often called infernalists. The only verses infernalists can try to use are Matthew 25:46, Revelation 14:11, and Revelation 20:10 to try to prove that hell (the lake of fire) is eternal torment and not annihilation (unconsciousness, nonexistence). But let´s look at each verse: Mt 25:46 And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Firstly, there´s a huge debate as to wheter "aion" means "eternal" or not. It very possiby only describes the QUALITY of the punishment in the age to come. But also the word "punishment" is quite ambiguous too. A "punishment" could be anything: a slap on the wrist or the death sentence. Matthew 25 does not indicate what the nature of the punishment is, so we have to look to other passages to find that out. Revelation 14:11 says that “the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever,” referring to those who worship the beast and receive his mark. The annihilationist would say that the smoke rises forever because the fire burns forever, but that doesn’t mean that the torment itself lasts forever. They’re tormented and annihilated and the smoke from the fire that consumes their dead body goes up forever and ever. But there’s also an issue with that phrase translated as “for ever and ever” as we’ll see in the one main verse used to support the doctrine of eternal torment: Revelation 20:10: “And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Here the phrase “for ever and ever” at best is a sloppy translation; at worst it is an outright lie. How do I know that? Because of the prophecy in Ezekiel 28 that every theologian knows MUST refer to the devil. Verses 18 and 19: “So I made a fire come out from you, and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. All the nations who knew you are appalled at you; you have come to a horrible end and will be no more.'” Other translations, like the Christian Standard Bible, say, “You will never exist again.” Ezekiel explicitly states that the devil will be totally annihilated. That’s impossible if he’s suffering truly eternal torment. According to Ezekiel, not even the most evil, despicable creature in the entire universe and enemy of all mankind gets eternal torment! These 3 passages are the only 3 that infernalists think they have. All other hell passages are about NON-eternal suffering. ~~~ So does the Bible support universal salvation? Yes it does. Firstly 1 Timothy 2:4 says that God wants all people saved, so I asked myself: In the end is God will done? And there are many verses that say God´s will WILL be done, like (Isaiah 46:10) But let’s assume for a moment the Arminianist position that man’s sinful will could overcome God’s will. Statement 1: God wants all people saved (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9). Statement 2: God knows absolutely all things beforehand: past, present, and future, including every decision of every person, who will be saved, and who won’t. God knows who He can save and who He cannot save (1 Kings 8:39; Psalm 139:1-4; Isaiah 46:10a; Acts 1:24; Hebrews 4:13; 1 John 3:20). Statement 3: God chooses to create and design each and every person in His image (Genesis 1:26,27; Job 10:8a; Psalm 139:13,14), but God is never obligated to create a human when two people wish to conceive (Genesis 20:17,18; 29:31; 30:22). So I present the following question: Would God choose to create a person in His image that would eternally choose to reject Him? Stated differently, would God choose to create a person that He knows He can’t save? If yes, then god has two contradicting wills (and the ridiculous Calvinist interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:4 is correct): On one hand he wants all people saved, but on the other hand, he freely and voluntarily chooses to create people that he knows he can’t save. This is simply irrational thinking in the form of schizophrenia, and this is not God. If no, then all people accept God and are saved. ~~~ I´ve found a total of about 76 Bible verses that speak of universal salvation, most notably Titus 2:11, but you always have to look at many different translations and the original Greek. The NIV says: For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. This translation is a lie. The original Greek never said "offers." NKJV says: For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.. This translation is also dead wrong. They switched the positions of the phrases in the sentence. The original Greek says: For the grace of God has appeared, saving all people. If you look at any passage on eternal damnation in the Bible, you´ll see that the original Greek text never says "people." It only uses pronouns. Therefore I am convinced that all passages on eternal damnation refer to the devil and his angels, not people. ~~~ Recommended RU-vid channels: ru-vid.comfeatured ru-vid.com/show-UCjlJI2QlzpEpE_fnoCk0rKQ Recommended Books The Evangelical Universalist by Gregory MacDonald (Robin Parry) The Inescapable Love of God by Thomas Talbott I hope this helps. +the kendred spirit What really happens is when we die we just die. We are not even aware, UNTIL Jesus comes. We are not judged until Jesus returns to judge us, so technically nobody is in heaven or hell, excluding God, Jesus, and the Angels. Once Jesus returns, everybody is resurrected. The point of yell isn't to punish people for sin, but to get rid of sin. So, Jesus will cleanse anybody who follows him of sin, everybody else will not be cleansed of sin, so god burns the earth. Everybody left dies (the second death), never to return to existence. So any sinner that does not follow Jesus and let him cleanse them of sin will be completely destroyed, thus destroying all sin. The End

It's taken me a long time of wrestling with this idea. The thought in my own head went like this, " If God created us in His image, and I would NEVER torment ANYONE for an eternity, then just how does God do it ". It's taken a long time, and even typing this it still feels a little uncomfortable to say, but I don't believe eternal torment is what the Bible teaches. Not anymore. I believe the Bible teaches that the nonbeliever will be destroyed. I think their are some scriptures that are difficult because of the many years that they have been applied to eternal torment. But if you read it, it doesn't " REALLY " say that, not exactly. I mean a person could reason it says that, but you can also reason it doesn't say that either. It just makes no sense that a loving God would torture His Son on the cross, in order to redeem humanity, only to send those who don't believe in that Son to a hell and torture them in the same way or worse. I can't get with eternal torment, but I can get with eternal destruction. Losing your right to eternal life make better sense. It actually makes sense. I don't believe that everyone is eventually saved. I don't think the Bible teaches that at all. Their is a reward for believing, and that reward is eternal life. I think nonbelievers are just no more, they have their right to existence stripped. That makes better sense.

Trusten, I can understand your viewpoint and trouble to believe in the reality and truth about everlasting hell but let me assure you, the Word Of God does still teach about eternal torment. Jesus is the word, and he stays the same yesterday, today and forever. Only man changes things to fit the way they think. Here's 100 Bible verses about eternal torment: www.openbible.info/topics/eternal_torment It actually does make sense that God so loved the world he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." And that anyone who rejects Jesus would be forever lost in a place called Hell. You have to remember that the minute sin entered the world, we all were doomed with no hope of ever being connected to God, the father. We were separated and needed to find a way home to him. So what better way than to sacrifice his only son who was spotless and perfect to take upon our sins, so that we may be redeemed? So now when God sees us, he's really seeing his son who had no sin in him. It was a beautiful exchange, as the Hillsong song goes. Eternal torment is the same as eternal destruction. It's destruction that lasts forever in a tormenting way with no peace or relief. I am glad you are smart enough to actually disbelieve Martin's lie about how "all" people will be saved eventually. Because I can tell you right now, not everybody goes to a better place when they die. The Bible is very specific about that. There will be gnashing of teeth for the wicked and unsaved where the worm dies not. I recommend checking out the testimony of Bill Wiese. And it doesn't matter if we can make sense of this or not, it's just how it is and we have to accept it.

perfect love casts out fear. There are two types of fear - terror, and respect. Does Yahweh, the God who 'is love' expect us to be terrified, petrified and live our lives depressed and broken. Or does he expect us to fear (as in honour, respect, love) him? A word study on the original Greek would benefit you much :P And you absolutely CANNOT disobey His commands and still be gods - no universalist would assert that. We keep His commands because it is for our own good.

By the terror of death and the awe of life toward the lord one makes wise choices automatically through the heart. For example all the law says if you obey you will be blessed and if you disobey you will be cursed . Where terror and awe combined it leads to make the right choice. When you are in awe of a choice you desire to do it like giving to the poor likewise when you are in terror of a choice you won't desire to do it. For example robbing the poor . We see then that with that type of fear your both encouraged and discouraged in order to propel you toward the wise choice The Hebrew word yar is best defined as both and that is what is given by its definition in Hebrew and the contexts where the word appears in every scripture

The apostles didn't believe in eternal hell. First 500 years of Christianity, the majority believed in the apocatastasis, eventual salvation of all. Rome injected the doctrine of eternal hell. Emperor Justinian of Rome, or "Saint Justinian" waged endless wars of conquest, forcing conquered nations to convert. He killed 30,000 who did not convert. He ordered the burning of all Origen's books, one of the early theologians of the apocatastasis, as he condemned him a heretic. And as Demiurge Shadow stated, St. Augustine played a big role in the injection of hell.

Because Jesus, Himself, taught us about Hell throughout the New Testament. Are you guys even reading your Bible? God is Love, but He is also full of wrath, hating sin. We demand justice in our courts for those families brought to ruin by murderers and criminals but, God is not allowed? God is also vengeance, so that we do not need to take this action; He is our fighter, especially for the lost, lonely, widows and orphans. Do you realize how many people have been murdered and no one even knows about these people? Well, God knows and he has a place for them if they live their whole lives without getting caught or repenting. How many people have raped and molested children without getting caught or having repented? Well, guess what...God has a place for them also.

Adam and Eve sinned and so God threw them out of Eden we are told in the bible. The reason given is that God didn't want them to eat from the tree of life and live forever in their fallen state. Eating from the tree of life would have made them eternal beings. So we know that mankind are not born eternal. So when my fellow Christians say that we are born eternal and that we either go to one place or the other they are wrong. When we die we go back to the ground from which God created us. At the time God chooses he will resurrect both the saved and the unsaved. The saved will go to heaven with Christ and the unsaved will be tossed into the lake of fire where they will be destroyed that is why it is called the second death.

Donald Lutkin Jesus will save ALL mankind. "Christ, to whom, in whom, and for whom are all things will reconcile all things unto God (Colossians 1:15-20). He makes all things new. (Rev. 21:5) Hence His work is the restitution of all things (Acts 3:21); He is Heir of all things (Hebrews 1:2); in Him not only all nations will be blessed (Galatians 3:8), but even every family of the earth will be blessed (Gen 12:32; 28:14); for the Father has given Him authority over all flesh, to give to whosoever was given to Him eternal life (John 17:2); and so all flesh shall see the salvation of God (Luke 3:6) since the Father has given all things into His hands. (John 3:35) Therefore, contrary to popular Christian opinion, we do not find billions in a Hell cursing God but we find every creature which is in heaven, and on earth, and UNDER the earth saying blessing and honour and glory and power be unto Him that sits upon the throne and unto the Lamb (Rev. 5:13). We find every knee of things in heaven and earth, and under the earth, bends to Him and every tongue confesses Him as their Lord (Philippians 2:10) and we know that no one can confess Jesus as Lord except by the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:3). For God, Whose counsel is immutable (Hebrews 6:17), Whose attitude towards His enemies is love unchanging (Luke 6:27-35), will have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the Truth (1 Timothy 2:4, KJV); and all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9); and has shut all up unto unbelief, in order that he may show mercy upon all (Romans 11:32); for (out) of Him, as Source, and unto (or into) Him, as End, are all things whatsoever (Romans 11:36); and He has, therefore, put all things into subjection under Christ's feet (Ephesians 1:22). And so we are assured that God will gather into one all things in Christ (Ephesians 1:10); and His grace comes upon all men unto justification of life (Romans 5:18). So Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands (John 13:3), promises by His Cross to draw (drag in the Greek) all men unto Himself (John 12:32). For having, as stated, received all things from the Father (John 3:35), all that was given come to Him shall come to Him and He will lose absolutely no one (John 6:37-39); but if any stray, He goes after that which is lost till He find it (Luke 15:4). Despite the fact that many of God’s chosen and elect believe God’s hand is too short to save (Isaiah 50:2) God’s hand is not too short to save (Isaiah 59:1; 63:5). He comes in order that all men may believe (John 1:17); that the world, through Him, may be saved (John 3:17); His grace brings salvation to all men (Titus 2:11); for He takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29); gives His flesh for it's Life (John 6:51); and, because the gifts and calling of God are without Repentance (Romans 9:29), He gives life to the world (John 6:33); is the light of the world (John 8:12); is the propitiation for the sins of the whole world (1John 2:2); is the Savior of all men (1Timothy 4:10); destroys the works of the devil, not some of them only (1John 3:8); abolishes death (2Timothy 1:10); puts all His enemies under His feet including death (1 Cor. 15:26), is manifest to put away sin (Hebrews 9:26); and thus subduing all things unto Himself (Philippians 3:21; the context clearly shows this subjection to be conformity to Himself); does not forget the dead, but takes the gospel to Hades (1Peter 3:19); of which He holds the keys (Revelation 1:18); for He is the same (Savior) for ever (Hebrews 13:8); thus even the dead are evangelized (1Peter 4:6). Thus all are made alive in Him (1Corinthians 15:22); for Christ finishes, completes His work (John 17:4; 19:30): restores all things (Acts 3:21); and there is no more curse (Revelation 22:2-3); for the creation is delivered from the bondage of corruption (Romans 8:21); and so comes the end when Christ delivers up the Kingdom to God, Who is then All in All because ALL God’s enemies are defeated, the last enemy being death, NOT eternally alive being endlessly punished. (1Corinthians 15:24-28). Salvation is a gift from God, it is not of works lest anyone be found boasting (Eph 2:8) and that gift has been given to all men despite the fact that some of God’s own people don’t like such generous grace. (Rom. 5:8; Matt. 5:1-16) We can be assured of all these wonderful and glorious things because nothing is too difficult for Him (Luke 1:37) and while many things are impossible with man, nothing is impossible with God. (Matt. 19:26) Furthermore, God is love (1 John 4:8), a love that love never fails (1 Cor. 13:8), a love that lays down His life for not only His own, but His enemies as well and commands His disciples to do likewise.. (Matt. 5:38-48) Therefore, for God to endlessly punish His enemies would make Him a hypocrite commanding less powerful and less loving human beings to do what He is not willing to do. (Matt. 23) There is nothing that can withstand His will and no plan of His can be thwarted. (Job 4:42) The Son came to save the world and not condemn it (Luke 5:59). Jesus asked the Father to forgive those who crucified Him (all of us) (Luke 23:34) The Father has laid the iniquity of us all upon the Lamb of God (Isaiah 53:6). Jesus died for all of us. (John 1:29) To punish us now would be double jeopardy. Indeed, we can enter into His peace, believing that it is indeed finished! (John 19:30) The gift of life has been given to everyone. (Rom. 5:18)"-from the website "tentmaker"

Because "hell" in that passage is a mistranslation of the Greek word "Gehenna", NOT "Hades" (the grave/unseen/world of the dead). Gehenna was an actual place in the Valley of Hinnom. In Jesus' day it was where people took their garbage to be incinerated. (Today, it's a garden.) God is described in scripture as a "consuming (or purifying) fire". What does he consume? Sin! The parable of the rich man and Lazarus has nothing to do with avoiding "hell".

In fact the greatest argument against eternal torture imo is this. God himself will be in hell for all eternity. By that I mean his heart is. This dawned on me one afternoon after over a week of wrestling with the idea of hell. Knowing that tens of billions of members of his creation are suffering in fire and chain and darkness and despair and hopelessness and devils and flesh eating worms without end would break his heart for the rest of his sad existence. That number includes people like: those who lived before Christ, those who never heard the gospel, those who never gave god a chance again because of genuine tragedy in their life, and your own unbelieving loved ones for whom you yourself would even go to great lengths to save if you could. In such a future, we the saved ones who supposedly have our memory of suffering wiped would be the only ones in complete joy. (But not really since even the idea that we can have true happiness whilst our creator is agonizing is ludicrous ) Also are any of you parents? Cutting off a relationship with your child if they had done something wrong (or even many things wrong) is painful and violates your innate sense of good parenthood. That goes true even without knowing that they are experiencing physical and mental torture at every second of every day of every month of every year for the rest of their existence. God the perfect father isn’t so bull-headed and malevolent as do the very thing that he ordained would violate your soul when he created your emotional complex.

Logical deduction. God wills all people to be saved God counsels all thing according to His will Therefor God will have all people be saved. Some are just self righteous who believe they're the only ones who deserve mercy because they perform some ritual. They don't understand the "agape" love of God. Forever and Ever in most translation of the bible is a mistranslation. The word there in the Greek is the plural form of the word Aion, which means age. The Greek reads to the ages of the ages in Rev 20:10. Most bible interpreters believe in eternal torment so they believe the Greek phrase to the ages of the ages means forever and ever and thus paraphrase the text as such. This is wrong. Numerous times in the New Testament the word Aion has a beginning, middle and an end. There are aion(plural) in the past, we are in a present aion, and there are going to be aion(plural) in the future, there is also an end(singular) of the aion (plural), and an ends (plural) of the aion (plural). Aion means an age. You cannot have plural past eternities/forevers/everlastings, a present eternity/forever/everlasting, and future plural eternities/forevers/everlastings. But you can have ages (plural) in the past. A present age, and futures ages (plural) culminating in an end of the ages, in which the ends of the ages being complete (multiple ages began and ended until the final age which to will end). The ages will end. There is an end to the ages. Jesus did not offer people eternal life; he offered them age-abiding life. Understand this; you lose NOTHING by Jesus offering age-abiding life vs. age-abiding punishment. Jesus came to save all; those that have age-abiding life simply get into the kingdom early. The rest have to go through the age abiding punishment before entering into the kingdom. You don’t lose your salvation when the ages end, the rest who did not get age abiding life simply get their salvation later on, from sin and death by being made immortal and justified (he who is justified cannot sin, sin is not reckoned unto his account). Right now only believers are justified and are awaiting immortality. Eternal torment is the difference between Jesus saving 1% of the world and Jesus saving 100% of the world. Aion is the noun, which means an age. Aionios is the adjective form of the noun. [Aionios Life, Aionios Punishment] Wood is a noun; wooden is the adjective form of the noun. Something that is wooden has the characteristics of wood. Sponge is a noun; Spongy is the adjective form of the noun. Something that is Spongy has the characteristics of a sponge. Metal is a noun, Metallic is the adjective form of the noun. Something that is Mettalic has the characteristics of Metal. Hour Noun, Hourly Adjective Day Noun, Daily Adjective Week Noun, Weekly Adjective Month Noun, Monthly Adjective Yearly Noun, Yearly Adjective Aion Noun, Aionios Adjective Age Noun, Age-Like or Age-Abiding Adjective Compare that to eternity: Eternity Noun, Eternal Adjective You can not have a singular eternity and a plural eternities , you can not have eternities in the past, a present eternity, and future eternities, and an end of the eternities, you can have ages in the past, a present age, ages in the future, and an end to the ages, as well as the ends of the ages (multiple ages have come and gone culminating in the final age which also ends)! Ages in the past Ephesians 3:9 and to enlighten all what is the administration of the mystery having been hidden from the ages[aion plural] in God, the One having created all things, Colossians 1:26 the mystery having been hidden from the ages[aion - plural] and from the generations, but now having been manifested to His saints, The present age Galatians 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age[aion - singular], according to the will of our God and Father, 1 Timothy 6:17 As for the rich in this present age[aion - singular], charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. Luke 18:30 will fail to receive many times more in this age[aion- singular noun] -and in the age[aion - singular noun] to come, eternal[aion adjective singular] life.” Ephesians 1:21 above every principality and authority and power and dominion, and every name being named, not only in this age[aion - singular], but also in the one coming. Future Ages to come Ephesians 2:7 in order that in the coming ages[aion - plural] He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Luke 1:33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob to the ages[aion - plural]. And of His kingdom there will be no end!" By the way Jesus STOPS rulling and reighning in 1 Cor 15:22-28, pay close attention to verses 24-25, where Jesus stops rulling after having perected the universe. Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and to the ages[aion-plural]. The END of the age (this age)! You can not have an end of eternity, forever, or everlasting Something that is everlasting can not end by definition. Matthew 13:39-40 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age[aion-singular], and the reapers are angels. 40 Just as the weeds are gathered and burned with fire, so will it be at the end of the age[aion-singular]. Matthew 24:3 3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age[aion - singular]? The end of the ages 1 Corinthians 10:11 Now these things happened to them as types and were written for our admonition, to whom the ends[plural] of the ages[aion - plural] are arrived. Hebrews 9:26 26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end[singular] of the ages[aion- plural] to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. In the end there will be no more sin in the universe at the end of the ages. Now what about the lake of fire? Revelation 20:10 And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, into which the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown. There they will be tormented day and night forever[aion - plural] and[and is not in the greek, the word inbetween the first aion and the second aion is the greek word ton which is the diffinite article and means the] ever[aion -plural]. Here is a more literal Translation Youngs Literal Translation and the Devil, who is leading them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are the beast and the false prophet, and they shall be tormented day and night -- to the ages of the ages. Consider this “Before the Ages” (or Age) = 1 Corinthians 2:7; 2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 1:2 ; Romans 16:25. (It would be absurd to speak about times before eternity [or eternities], but it makes good sense to speak of times before an age [or ages].) “Present Age” (singular) = Galatians 1:4; 1 Timothy 6:17; 2 Timothy 4:10; Titus 2:12. “This Age” (singular) = Luke 16:8; 1 Corinthians 1:20; 2:6-8; Romans 12:2; Ephesians 2:2. “End of Age” (singular) = Matthew 13:39,40; 24:3 (The end of an age is clearly shown in these verses.) “End of the Ages” (i.e. relative to the existence of sin) = Hebrews 9:26 (Ages, in the plural come to an end.) “The Coming Age” (singular) = Matthew 12:32; Mark 10:30; Luke 18:30; Ephesians 1:21; Hebrews 6:5 (The coming age will begin at the Second Coming of Christ.) “Ages (plural) to Come” = Ephesians 2:7 (More ages are to begin in the future.) “Future Ages” (plural) = Luke 1:33; Hebrews 13:8. “Plan of the Ages” (plural) = Ephesians 3:11; Hebrews 1:2; 11:3. “Age of the Age” = Hebrews 1:8 (Also the rendering of the LXX) (Note that both words are in the singular here.) “Age of the Ages” = Ephesians 3:21 (Note that the first word is singular followed by a plural.) “Ages of the Ages” (not eternal when all Bible contexts compared) = Revelation 14:11[the word "the" is not inbetween the first aion and the second so it just reads ages ofages]; 19:3 (Note the plural of both words.) “There will be future Ages” = Jude 1:25. “The Dispensation of the Fullness of Times” = Ephesians 1:10 (This describes the final period for salvation.)

Thank you for sharing you're thoughts Martin! I would like to comment on them. Mark 9:43-44 And if your hand offend you, cut it off: it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where the worm dies not, and the fire is not quenched. Revelation 14:10-11 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out undiluted into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascends up forever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name. Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. It's evident that the final destination is the lake of fire (the second death) to those whose name are not written in the book of life. In other videos you posted saying that being dead means not to exist because you're dead...The scripture tells me that those cast into the lake of fire the second death have no peace day or night but are being tormented forever and ever. Torment is for those who are alive. Why Torment someone who is dead? So apparently the scripture has another idea of the second death then you do, and you cannot apply you're limited understanding of death as doctrine against the Word of God that speaks clearly of everlasting Torment that is the second death. The fact that scripture says the smoke of their Torment goes up forever and ever is the strongest opposition to you. Please respond to this.

hi, thanks you for writing this in response to a difficult subject. i am just beginning to study the topic eternal torment. \ i was raised in a christian family attending church etc etc, i cam e to believe in my early 20's, i am saved, no question. but i have struggled with this ever since i was a young boy. i am going in with prayerfully with an open mind to learn all i can about this. im thinking off the start since there has been a few comments about Augustine that there has been some incorrectly written passages in the NIV and KJV that i use. i am first going to look into the earliest translations.

Now, depending on what is meant by eternal fire in Matthew 25:41 it may well be eternal conscious torment for all unrepentant sinners or just those groups I mentioned but I'm not sure. God is good!

The problem most people have is that they more often than not are reading from the KJV which is filled with errors and mistranslations. It's taken mostly from the Latin Vulgate which is another gross translation. When one reads the literal translation of the original Greek version of the Bible, the ultimate love and grace of almighty God is revealed. And it's bigger and more powerful than we ever could have imagined. His love and grace is inescapable.

The last two there are typical of eastern languages - full of exaggeration. Jesus is talking to the Pharisees, referring to the literal Valley of the Gehenna. Emphasising how shameful their end will be (funeral and honour are a big thing in Judaism). Well, day of judgement 70AD as many as 1.1 million Jews from Jerusalem (Pharisees, Sadducees etc) were killed by the Romans. Their literal bodies were piled up in the literal valley of Gehenna - read up on Jewish Roman history :P

I liked his comment that how a sane family consisting of man, woman and their children would ever consider putting their children into an everlasting torment of fire because of disobedience. It is only through a religion would they ever consider doing this. Taken for example from the bible where the Jewish people, those that God chose to be His people for all eternity, disobeyed God and were sending babies to death by burning them alive to the pagan god, Molech, in the Valley of Hinnom ( the same place becoming Gehenna in Christ's time in reference to the biblical Hell) of which God called a hideous abomination and punished Israel extensively for doing this. He is right! Only through a religion, being pagan or Christian, it is all the same results! Totally centuries brainwashing!

AIONIOS (root AION- , aionos, aiona, aionou, aionion, aionwn, etc.) If aionios mean eternal, everlasting or an endless time, then "sunteleia tou aionos" mean "end of an endless time". When aionios comes after "sunteleia" the translations don't translate aionios as "endless time". They usually use "world" but not meaning the planet but an age, a system of things, a finite time. There is more verses with "tele tou aionion" (tele also means end). It is not eternal but have no mistake, what one sow, one will harvest. Some exemples from ASV: Matthew 013:039 ο δε εχθρος ο σπειρας αυτα εστιν ο διαβολος ο δε θερισμος *συντελεια του αιωνος* (sunteleia tou aionos) εστιν οι δε θερισται αγγελοι εισιν and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the *end of the world*; and the reapers are angels. Matthew 013:040 ωσπερ ουν συλλεγεται τα ζιζανια και πυρι κατακαιεται ουτως εσται εν τη *συντελεια του αιωνος* (sunteleia tou aionos) τουτου As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the *end of the world*. Matthew 013:049 ουτως εσται εν τη *συντελεια του αιωνος* (sunteleia tou aionos) εξελευσονται οι αγγελοι και αφοριουσιν τους πονηρους εκ μεσου των δικαιων So shall it be in the *end of the world*: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the righteous, Matthew 024:003 καθημενου δε αυτου επι του ορους των ελαιων προσηλθον αυτω οι μαθηται κατ ιδιαν λεγοντες ειπε ημιν ποτε ταυτα εσται και τι το σημειον της σης παρουσιας και της *συντελειας του αιωνος* (sunteleia tou aionos) And as he sat on the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the *end of the world*? Matthew 028:020 διδασκοντες αυτους τηρειν παντα οσα ενετειλαμην υμιν και ιδου εγω μεθ υμων ειμι πασας τας ημερας εως της *συντελειας του αιωνος* (sunteleia tou aionos) αμην teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the *end of the world*. Hebrews 009:026 επει εδει αυτον πολλακις παθειν απο καταβολης *κοσμου* νυν δε απαξ επι *συντελεια των αιωνων* (sunteleia ton aionwn (plural)) εις αθετησιν αμαρτιας δια της θυσιας αυτου πεφανερωται else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the *world*: but now once at the *end of the ages* hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. the one question is have ALWAYS pondered on this specific subject is this : Why are so many believers and followers of christ so concerned with a place they truly do not think they are going? secondly if they truly believe in christ does it matter if they believe in HELL and eternal torture? I cant find anywhere in the bible where it states he who believes not in hell witb go there.... it does however say ... he who believes on me Jesus shall be saved. THE END

Matthew 25:31-36 says, "Then he will say to those on his left, “Depart from me, you cursed. . . . And these will go away into ETERNAL punishment, but the righteous into ETERNAL life.” Revelation 14:9-11 says, "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink the wine of God’s wrath...and he will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have NO REST, day or night." If they were annihilated out of existence, then the statement "no rest day or night" makes no sense. Revelation 20:10 says, "And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be TORMENTED day and night FOREVER and ever. . .Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if ANYONE"S name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." By the way, the word torment is translated from the Greek word Basanismos, and it means to torture. It absolutely does NOT mean to annihilate and put out of existence. How about the STORY of Lazarus and the rich man. The fact that Jesus spoke of Lazarus by name, shows this was NOT a parable or metaphor. AND once again, if you think this story was a parable or metaphor...then for what? How would describing a man saying, "I am in torment in these flames..." indicate annihilation? How about the fact that Revelation 20:13 has "death and Hades (Hell) gave up the dead who were in them and they were judged." If they already died and went to Hades (hell) then how are they judged IF they were annihilated? Answer; they were NOT annihilated. Finally, with all the above explanations on a score of verses, why didn't God just say, "I will annihilate the wicked?

When terrorists of Islam commits a heinous act, people act like they’re the most barbaric people in the world, even though those individuals were acting based on their personal convictions because of what the Quran teaches. But when someone has a problem with a loving, compassionate, empathetic God tormenting a person forever, those same people who called the terrorists evil, starts to justify the greater act of pain and suffering. The terrorist acts only lasts for a moment, but the acts that we associate with God will allegedly be forever. That thought bothers me as well. I’m not professing any truth, I’m just saying that doesn’t seem loving and just to me. If you search your hearts honestly, you’ll see what I’m saying.

Right on Martin... in my small community of believers I dare not breathe the revelation shared with me while deep in study with the Spirit and the Word. It should be rejoiced throughout the body of Christ, that what He did was so amazing and does extend to all of the human race as Paul declares in Romans 5. But as you say the indoctrinated church dwells in the misery and eclaims the limited atonement of Christ through His blood, His sacrifice is minimized and they are comfortable in that position. To those who will reply. Don't give me verse, I probably know them better than you.

If the Bible said God throws people named Sam in Hell, they'd believe it just because the Bible says it. They robotically follow what they're taught or read, and don't question anything. DelphiProgrammer I don't blame them, I try to be understanding now. We have been there with the same blinders of indoctrination on. It took a Spiritual intervention for me to see. But I was lead to pray and ask for the truth so I would not be decieved. Our Father is true to His Word seek and you shall find. Ask and He will give. The problem is we don't truly seek, we feel comfortable in the path we have been lead down our whole life. I don't feel like I need to defend my position anymore, it's not up to me to convince anyone as was my experience this past weekend. I simply state, these are the verses in scripture and you pray for their true meaning. I find there is no desire for truth but only to reaffirm their indoctrination. So I quietly recede and ask them to read the verses when they have time but they never do because they typically don't make it a habit to read scripture. We will all know one day that The Father saves His whole creation through the sacrafice of His son.

When I First Found out about the Idea of Eternal Torment, I was so disturbed and so disgusted to the point I had depression and anxiety for 5 months. my spirit grieved in despair that the majority of human souls will endure suffering unfairly. and that certainly goes against the true nature of God and His intentions for all of his creations! while I do believe that a form of Godly punishment exists, But I DO NOT Believe in a Punishment of Eternal Suffering. not after I was shown the real truth about it. the Idea of Eternal Torture by burning, is the most perverted Concept Ever invented by humans and as I said before, goes against God's True Nature which is LOVE! Ultimately, its not Hatred that is the Opposite of love. but Fear as the real exact opposite of love! I only wish such things of Eternal Punishment with no chance of redemption that are fear based were never taught, as it caused not only me, but countless of other innocent human beings on this planet so much suffering. worst of all, those who are compassionate and emotionally aware of things. while everything else fails, God's love NEVER FAILS!

@TimpBizkit
@TimpBizkit 10 лет назад
The Quran is laced with eternal torment, or at least lengthy torment for sinful muslims. I don't know how people thought it was in the bible, apart from Revelation 20:10 which is narrowed down to the devil, also means 'unto the ages of the ages' which may be lengthy but not necessarily infinite, or perhaps it means up until 'the ages of ages' which is the infinite period of time after satan's eventual death. Ezekiel 28 12-19 confirms the devil will die, not be tortured infinitely long, although he may meet a slow and sticky end compared to sinful humans. The devil won't die of old age but it's stupid to think God can't kill him. And universal reconciliation is very much untrue - even less support for that position.

DelphiProgrammer I made a similar statement like what you did to a christian believer of Hell (eternal torment) a few months ago here on RU-vid. I basically said this about their belief system of Hell as if the Lord says, "If you don't agree with me, I am going to hurt ya!" [God here certainly sounds like a mafia doesn't He? lol] Anyways, it was a fierce argument between us, I showed him extremely clear verses from the Bible that clearly speaks of annihilation/destruction of wicked souls in the Lake of Fire and not eternal conscious torment. He threw at me some verses from the book of Revelation which I argued that the book of Revelation is highly symbolic and very spiritual, and the current church has no definitive spiritual understanding of that book. It's a very sad thing. Basically his argument did not stand because I had provided him with verses that clearly contradicted his belief of eternal-conscious-torment/as of Hell's state of existence. I sought of felt that I had won the argument..
@Nexus-7.0
@Nexus-7.0 9 лет назад
DelphiProgrammer The Bible is clear about salvation. In order to attain eternal life one has to seek and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. If you do not believe, you will simply die/perish. But if you were a person that was wicked on earth like a rapist, murderer etc etc who is unrepentant, for them - there will be equal recompense/punishment and next annihilation. God said that He will reward/recompense each and every one of us according to our works, that's His righteousness I think and sounds fair to me. But eternal conscious torment? That turns God's character into an eternal oxymoron to his eternal character of Love. Simply not possible and not rational.

Clearly, you have no idea. Why must Christians always point out that He is Jealous or Angry. At times, yes, He is. But so many point them out as if they are as eternal as His Holy and Loving nature, they aren't. They are very temporary moods. Lastly, Jesus did not die to save us from the wrath of God. He died to save us from Death. But if you actually KNEW the Gospel, the real one, you'd know that.

Fear of the Lord is to hate Evil. not be in terror.

There are many many scripture that says ALL FLESH WILL receive from God the gift of eternal life. Only a few below I have a LOT MORE #1 John 17 ) 1These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2As thou hast given him power over ALL FLESH, that he should give (ETERNAL LIFE) to as many as thou hast given him. 3And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: those that you gave me I have kept, and (NONE) of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.( My comment all flesh has to take in animals) #2 18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. 19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. 20Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. #3 What is he saving them from?1 Timothy chap 4 v 9-11 For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of ALL men, specially of those that believe. # 4 ALL means ALL not part of LUKE C 3 V 6 And (ALL) flesh shall see the salvation of God Webster's Dictionary SALVATION= The act of saving; preservation or deliverance from destruction, danger, or great calamity. 2. (Theol.) The redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, and the conferring on him of everlasting happiness. #5 Below shows the unbelieving going into the Kingdom of God right after the believers. . 31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. #6 1 John 2 2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. (PROPITIATION) means The act of appeasing the wrath and conciliating the favor of an offended person; the act of making propitious. PROPITIOUS means The act of appeasing the wrath and conciliating the favor of an offended person; #7 Now how could he be talking about ALL flesh in the NEW WORLD and HEAVENS will come worship before him in Isaiah 66 below? As it says in 1st Cor 15/ 50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;) So it has to be saying ALL flesh that ever lived on the old world will come worship before him in the NEW WORLD. The BIBLE says we will be giving a spiritual body. 44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. #8 Isaiah 66 22For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall (ALL FLESH) come to worship before me, saith the LORD. #9 1st cor 15 50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not ALL sleep, but we shall ALL be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

please don't quote verses so wildly out of context. You have to remember Jesus came to save from 3 things - 1. to save the lost sheep of Israel - before the worldly judgement; 2. to save people from the unloving brokenness of sin; and 3. to save people from eternal physical death. But you're absolutely right - NOTHING is saved except by Christ. No one can save themselves - people are spiritually dead before Christ gives them faith. The dead know not anything and CANNOT choose to be saved!

If the book of revelation was only prophecy to THOSE before 70 AD then why is it in the Bible for it is said in wikipedia that this book is dated during the reign of the emperor Domitian (AD 81-96) ?
@renespeksnijder6765
@renespeksnijder6765 8 лет назад
Wikipedia does not interpret the BIBLE for me. I never said that. I only referred to wikipedia for when this book of revelation is suppose to be written. In my case it seemed a legal option. Where does Jesus say that the temple would be burned down ? In Matt. 24: 2, Mark. 13: 2 and Luke 21: 6 He says that no stone will be left on oneother. Is He talking about the Temple ? Seems like it. In Mathew 24 they (Jesus and His diciples) left the temple and His diciples showed Him the buildings of the temple, where He (Jesus) sais that no stone will be left on another. Looks like to me that it turned out on 70 AD. In 1 Cor. 10: 11 it seems that we are warned not to make the same mistakes, but it does not say anything about the end of the OLD Covenant. As for Paul really thought that the return of Jesus was imminent. As his writings are not always friendly towards women. For Peter I did not know this sentence (1 Peter 4: 7). He also said that for God is 1 day like 1000 years (2 Peter 3: 8). You say that Jesus is not coming back, but what does He say Himself ? I suppose you read Matt. 24: 29-35. Has Jesus come on the clouds with might and glory ? Have all people on earth wept ? Has He sent all His angels to gather His chosen ones from the four corners of the earth ? Looks a lot like in Revelation. This part is called the great Tribulation I think. In my opinion it is more applayable on today with all this technological things around us than back then. And furthermore as you look here on youtube, you also see a lot of videoclips about tribulation (pre-tribulation, post-tribulation or midst of it), rapture, and so one. They also read the Bible. So are they wrong ?

You cant sit there and use Gods awesome love as an example of why hell does not exist and your second death theory is weak up against the rest. @jochangsek

+Mike Callies In that passage in Matthew, "eternal" is translated (read: mistranslated) from the Greek word Aion, meaning an age. So it is literally a temporary punishment. Some have argued that if the punishment is temporary, so is the life. They don't get the context of what is going on. Here, the nations are standing before Christ to judge them at the start of the 1,000-year millenial reign, and will be rewarded or punished. The wicked will be punished for a time, and will be resurrected back to face God and be saved. The righteous will have "Aionian" life. In other words, they will get to experience that life that God had for them in the Millennial Reign. Then the rest come in, according to Revelation, the dead do not rise for 1,000 years. Even if, even IF "eternal" really means forever, there is still a problem with the word used in this passage for "punishment," which is Kolasis. In the Greek in the NT, there are two words that are used for punishment - "timorea" and "kolasis." Timorea means "punish" and was used by the Paul the Apostle to describe Saul of Tarsus' atrocious treatment of Christians in Acts 22:5 and 26:11. He punished them not to correct them. He hunted them because he wanted to murder them and inflict maximum pain to take vengeance on these followers of "The Way." When Steven was martyred, this is the type of punishment he got. In contrast, kolasis means "correction" and, according to some scholars, is not even an ethical term, but it implies a "pruning" as you would prune trees to make them grow better. It's also used elsewhere - in 1Jn4:17 - 18. "Fear has to do with [correction]." When you got in trouble as a child, did you not fear correction? Now, what did that mean? Did it mean Dad was going to get so upset that he was going to lock you in the basement for the rest of your natural life? Or did it mean you were probably headed for a spanking? The latter is the logical (and sane) answer, but you still weren't looking forward to it, were you? Take a look at what Thayer's Lexicon has to say, "the noted definition of Aristotle, which distinguishes κόλασις from τιμωρία as that which (is disciplinary and) has reference to HIM WHO SUFFERS, while the latter (is penal and) has reference to the SATISFACTION of him who inflicts" When Saul of Tarsus was hunting Christians, he was only satisfied when they were severely beaten, dragged out, and sent to the Sanhedrin for "perverting the Jewish faith." I will include links to Strong's definitions for your study: biblehub.com/greek/5097.htm, biblehub.com/greek/2851.htm

One day in hell , thousand years in hell , eternity in hell,,,,one day would probably seems like an eternity . Here is the kicker , nobody is 100% positive on the length of time but I'm 100 % positive there will be separation from God in hell.......good reason not to preach no hell , period . As with any teaching , if your not 100%, then make that known to your audience . You just can't say no hell and move on
@jochangsek
@jochangsek 8 лет назад
Believe what you want, Mike, but I never said there was no hell, simply that it is not forever, as we have been taught. You can choose to believe whatever you want, if you want to believe in a forever version of hell and that helps you keep on the straight and narrow, go ahead. Oh, and what you said about eternal separation is not right, either. Rev 14:10 says that people will be tormented with burning sulfur IN the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. It's false doctrine to believe in eternal separation.
@mike7044863
@mike7044863 8 лет назад
Well then , you just admitted that people will be tormented with burning fire and just because it says in the presence of the lamb doesnt mean that as soon as jesus turns his back it goes away . If your presence is in the room and something is taking place, that doesnt mean that when you leave the room it automatically stops .......it means that whatever was going down was being done in your presence ( at the time ) ....I dont see a pause or stop scripture there
@jochangsek
@jochangsek 8 лет назад
But He is still in the room. He does not leave His creation to suffer for no reason. You don't see a pause or a stop, neither do I. That means that Jesus will be in Hell with these people forever, an obvious fallacy. Have you not read the Scripture about the the perishable and imperishable things that will go through fire? All wood, hay, stubble (I.e., sinfulness), will burn up, but what is good that will endure. It's no wonder that the Greek word for fire is "pur" kinda like our English words pure and purity. It gives you a hint as to it's purpose. Fire purifies. Our God is a consuming fire. What does He do? He consumes all unrighteousness until nothing but the desirable parts are left, much like how fire melts gold and silver and the worthless slag naturally floats to the surface so that the smith can skim it away. This is the same God who takes away your sin as far a East is from West. If you're not perfect yet, you will be. Look up the ancient Israel festivals and the crop attached to them. All of the crops, all of them, complete a picture of God's Plan of the Ages. His banquet table will be complete and nothing will be left out. Read 1 Cor 15:20 through 28, which actually is describing an event that happens further than Revelation. The last book of the Bible ends with God calling out to people to enter His Holy City. In Corinthians, everyone is reconciled, and in the end, God will be All in all. Yet, men will be saved "in their own order." We all come to God at different times. What happened to hell? That was disposed of long ago, thrown into the Lake of Fire. Its purpose is done. The last enemy, Death, is also absolved. It did have duties to fulfill, as terrible as it is. But after God has no need for it, He destroys it. Death was first introduced as the punishment for sinning in the Garden. But, now Death itself dies the Death. Irony. From then on, after all things are resurrected, purified and out in their proper place, THEN and not a moment sooner, we will spend eternity with God forever. As for what you said about needing hell, would you happen to know how many Atheists have been made by this concept? I don't need hell. I do better now without it. Why don't I cheat on my woman? Do I need a book to tell me not to? No, I don't commit adultery because I love her. Why don't I murder, commit fraud, lie to people, etc? Not because I fear hell, I can tell you that much. Those who need it, fine. Remember John's letter, though. Those who need fear to motivate them has not been made perfect in love, for perfect Love casts out fear because fear has to do with correction. If you are interested in learning more about this subject, get Martin's book "Martin Zender Goes to Hell" or "Raising Hell" by Julie Ferwerda.

Why would Satan be a part of God's plan to punish humans for not accepting Christ? You would think the devil would give everyone a high five and say "Welcome, you are going to like it here!" Satan as a tool and willing servant to punish people? Try reading Revelations 20 where it says that Satan was thrown into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever, not humans, and death and hades also thrown in. So who is actually suffering? Satan and his demons, not humanity whom Jesus said "Forgive them, for they know not what they do" even while they were still spitting on him and killing him and without repentance, he said this. Amazing. Maybe YOU should read the bible.

Yes this is a doctrine of devils. People would be very wise to read the Bible and NOT listen to this wolf in sheep's clothing. Hell is real and it was made for the fallen angels and Satan. People have free will and choose who they serve. IF they choose to serve the world, sin and Satan, they will end up in eternal torment. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and. cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. Matthew 5:30 "Where their worm does not die and fire is never quenched." Mark 9:46 God does not choose to send people to Hell, THEY DO! "You are that one's servant whom you obey, whether of sin leading to (eternal) death, or righteousness leading to (eternal) life." Romans 6:16 The Birmingham News, April 10, 1987 had an article entitled "Earth's Center Hotter Than Sun's Surface, Scientists Say". The article stated that scientists have recently discovered, "THE EARTH'S INNER CORE HAS A TEMPERATURE OF OVER 12,000 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT!" The earth’s crust on land is normally 50 miles thick. You’d have to go down 50 miles before the edge of the fire. But in parts of the ocean floor, the earth’s crust is less than a mile thick. Scientists recently discovered cracks on the ocean floor where fire was leaking out. Do you know what they found around these fire-breathing vents in the crust? Eight-foot long worms, found no other place in the world! The book, The Deep Sea, by Joseph Wallace (p.39), reads, "Perhaps the strangest of ocean creatures recently discovered are Riftia, the giant tube WORMS. Measuring up to 8 feet in length, the worms are ONLY FOUND NEAR DEEP SEA VENTS." They also heard millions of humans screaming in agony (and recorded it, you can listen to it online) while drilling 2000 feet below the earth's crust. "And THE EARTH OPENED HER MOUTH, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive INTO THE PIT, and the EARTH CLOSED UPON THEM:" Numbers 16:32-33 "Let God be true and every man a liar." Romans 3:4

@transquesta It has to look like we've a choice, but the truth is God IS in charge. He creates opposition to his will to make himself known. Some people seemingly "choose" not to believe in the real God (or in any god), but the truth is God hasn't granted them belief; he's hidden his true self from them in order to reveal himself later, locked them in stubbornness in order to show them mercy. Correct.. People believe in eternal conscious torment because they misunderstand the scripture. Now dear brethren, the devil isn't an eternal fallen Angel, for those who believe that angels can sin, and actually rebel against God are to be compared to eternal torment believers. Understand this, that sin is in the flesh, human nature, and is rewarded with death. For the lust of the flesh, that we inherit from Adam, and what Jesus defeated, is the devil.
