The story of the Eternals is this: at the beginning of history the Celestials came to Earth and experimented on Animals on Earth and created 3 beings: Humans, Eternals, and Deviants. The human worshipped the Eternals as gods and the Deviants as demons. Jack Kirby’s original run was an epic saga where the Deviants attempt to conquer to Earth again and the Eternals re-gathering to battle them in a huge war! I highly recommend the Eternals Complete Saga Omnibus to read Jack Kirby’s original saga.

Hmmmm this sounds familiar wasn't there a myth of the sumerians I believe telling us that an advanced alien civilisation came to earth and experimented on the monkeys and gave some of the monkeys something that evolved them into humans hence why we have similarities to monkeys sorry I'm a myth nerd but I love that it has similarities with the celestials

I like this theory, but I’m not sure of the timeline. When the underwater earth quake is mentioned in Endgame, it’s well before the final snap. And if we trust the dialog clues in this trailer, that meteor’s (or whatever it was) impact was an eventuality of final snap. So that impact could possibly be at least eight days after the earth quake. But…… I low key love your theory more than it being Namor the Submariner. That was always the running theory with the underwater earthquake, but that always sounded too lame and subtle to me. 😂 Regardless, this feel looks fantastic and I’m loving all these theories.

@@Ghostfailure33object27 Atlantis and Wakanda are frequently at war with each other. The "We handle it by not handling it" could just be because that's Namor's world. Not that he caused it. More of a, if it's that important he will handle it, but we're not risking war over an earthquake kinda deal

The timing doesn't line up though. That line was said well before everyone was snapped back, which according to this trailer is the thing that started the Emergence. Assuming that "quake" in this trailer is depicting that event

I'll break it down.. THE DEVIANTS eat new worlds.. THE CELESTIALS brought the ETERNALS to protect the planet EARTH . The Snap re-awoke the DEVIANTS now the ETERNALS have to stop them again. Also not sure if its the same as the comics but the Eternals are like (machines). They are programed ...so even if they wanted to help with the past stuff they probably didn't have the free will to do so

BTW, according to the comics Celestials are 'born' from eggs hidden within the depths of planets. After millions of years they 'hatch' consuming the entire planet in the process. Maybe this is the "Emergence" that will happen in 7 days?

That's only in the Earth X alternate continuity. In main comic continuity, the Celestials were created by the first version of the universe to exist known as the First Firmament.

@@exononymous9842 all of the Marvel metals have their own benifits. Vibranium is light and versatile, Adamantium is tough and indestructible, Uru while close to Adamantium has the ability to channel and harness magics....it is not indestructible.

So much of this just SCREAMS polish. Each individual shot, the way the camera moves. The transitions between shots to the tune of the music. The gorgeous trailer tune that establishes the feel of the movie and feels like it was made especially for this trailer. Each single particle shot of the CGI. Holy shit, this looks amazing. I'm definitely in just for the experience alone.

Well, they mentioned the Deviants, who are basically Evil Eternals. So maybe one, or more than one, were imprisoned on Earth in the ancient past. 'Don't interfere with human affairs unless Deviants are involved'. To me this makes them...like Prison Wardens, here to make sure they don't escape.

I think "The Emergence" that Salma Hayek mentioned, triggered by the insane amount of energy resulting from Hulk's return snap, could mean the emergence (or re-emergence) of the Deviants to destroy Earth and all of humanity. In the comics, the Eternals and Deviants are enemies but I think we might see another Deviant conflict in this film. The Deviants also went to war with Atlantis, which upset the Celestials so much that the god-like beings made a biblical-level return to Earth to wipe out the Deviants. That massive event is what sank Atlantis under the sea. It also forced the Deviants under the Earth for hundreds of years. Since Namor is reportedly appearing in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," it would make sense to at least introduce the idea of Atlantis BEFORE Black Panther 2.

It looks like they're fighting them in the distant past as well, which is where my theory of the Prison came from. They won way back then after they first arrived and have stayed to make sure they never escaped.

There is an celestial growing inside Planet Earth, you all saw the seed being planted when it struck earth and buried deep inside. The return Blip by Hulk and the Avengers on EARTH triggered the celestial inside earth with its imense cosmic energy level(all the infinity stones going off at once!). Deviance are attracted to earth for some reason i don't know yet But the Eternals are the Guardians of the celestials at their infant stages

The Infinity stones were all used simultaneously on 4 occasions that we know of. Three of those events took place on Earth, the last two in fairly quick succession. That's a lot of cosmic energy released on Earth.

I always thought Eternals was beautiful but this trailer really made me unreasonable excited for it. Like, I also have no idea what any of it is - I did a lot of looking stuff up and got a general idea of characters not plot - so that's why I'm just...so unreasonably excited.

Very surprised that so many people are underwhelmed by this movie so far. It's got so much style (the kind with substance) and sophistication, an elegant epicness that feels like mythology made real. To say that the first trailer didn't give anything to latch onto, is to miss the brilliance of a trailer that manages to spoil no plot, yet still convey the essence of the story as a feeling, a vibe, a - yes I'm gonna say it - spiritual experience. Some people need art explaining to them, others let it bypass the mind and go straight from source to soul.

Boy you said it. I madly love the first trailer, definitely think it conveys the gravitas of the Eternals. It just evoked this feeling of deep respect for them, almost like they were to be worshipped. The music for that context was just perfect - deep choral sounds, and that church organ. And like you said, it definitely felt like Mythological stories had come alive - for instance, Selma (Ajak) looking like a Mayan Goddess with her crown. Honestly, the second trailer felt a bit more mainstream, if trailers can even be mainstream - which is not a bad thing, though.

Before seeing anything this year, Eternals was the biggest MCU thing for me because of what it could do for future stories and lore but the previously trailers were worrying me some. This trailer got me hyped finally. I'm all in again.

I believe that first Celestial that is revealed is Eson the Searcher. His design seems pretty similar. If you all remember, he was actually in Guardians 1, when the Guardians are with the Collector and he’s explaining the deal with the Power Stone, one of the flashbacks is Eson disintegrating a people with the Power Stone. He’s never named but based on the comics and the design, it’s pretty clear that’s who he is. Pretty cool!

This movie looks amazing! Stunning cinematography, we are finally getting a feeling for the characters. I didn't know any of them and i was interested, but not excited for this movie, so I read the leaks. They are pretty much all confirmed by this trailer, so sadly I can't join the guessing game, but I think it will work well. :) i'm actually super excited, now!

The red Celestial you see in the trailer is Arishem the judge. He is the leader of the Celestials. He comes to planets and judges if they are fit to survive. If not he cleanses the planet so they can be seeded with life again and restarts the cycle. In Guardians of the Galaxy you see a scene of a judgment when the Collector explains the Infinity Stones. Arishem uses the Power Stone to destroy the planet.

I pretty much binge watched everything i could during the pandemic and finally am all caught up minus the black widow movie and to be honest after the wild ride I've been on with it all I will not question Marvel in there movies or shows. I know little from the comics or anything outside of the trailers but my big hope for this movie is that they really emphasize (or at least have a major scene) the Eternals love for humanity and the serious pain and confusion caused by not being allowed to interfere in the course of human events. Like, I really want to see some killer performances because all these actors can absolutely pull it off

So here is my issue: The Celestial shown here is the same Celestial that is shown in GOTG 1, when The Watcher is explaining the origins of the Infinity Stones. In that scene he is carrying a staff and you can clearly see that Celestial has two sets of three round eyes. Now, people are saying this is Arishem the Judge and Leggos has a toy out by that same name... but..... If you go back to comic book images, Arishem the Judge has multiple sets of three horizontal slits for eyes (more than two sets of three). Eson the Searcher is the Celestial with two sets of three "round" eyes. Eson the Search is also the Celestial that carries the same exact staff that is show in GOTG 1. So either someone got it completely wrong or once again the MCU is changing characters for no reason.

The Celestials they made X-Genes, you know. Mutants, X-Men. They made Deviants, Eternals and Humans. Thanos is the son of A’Lars and Sui-San, cousin of Thena.

That looked amazing. There are alot of celestials, each with a certain role. The universe is their big experiment and they have no problem with sterilising a planet that would contaminate the great experiment. I think that celestial we see is Arishem the judge.

The Emergence probably has to do with the resurfacing of the Deviants. Which is why they begin to intervene again and why they show them fighting Deviants. Im guessing that’s why we see Gemma Chan speaking with a Celestial.

They are using Deviants in Loki and the TVA as the deviations from the sacred timeline and that has NOTHING to do with Deviants the Eternals are protecting humanity from? That will be so incredibly stupid.

The shot is Eson the Searcher, a Celestial and we saw Eson in the Guardians of the Galaxy as the original keeper of the Infinity Power Stone. As soon as you both said y'all don't care for this movie I just KNEW you'd eat your words with this trailer!!!

The Celestial shown is most likely Arishem the judge...but Adam might be on to something about a Celestial being behind it...for years in the Comics the big bad was the Dreaming Celestial, who was imprisoned on Earth, under a mountain...that exploding Volcano in the trailer maybe?

Salma Hayek said seven days, and a LOTR-esque bit popped into my head: "Seven days to make the world, Seven days to end it, Seven days to save the world and from the darkness send it." This movie looks so cool and I will be walking into that theater knowing basically nothing about these characters. Cannot wait! :)
