$134 cold, hard smackeroos for 1474 premium coins? At least with Star Stable, you get a lifetime subscription and a weekly allowance of 100 SC. Whatever they are smoking, snorting, whatever it is, I want some too. Then again, they'd charge for that too, so nevermind.

I played this game when it came out for like an hour and was so shocked with the amount of money I would have to spend if I wanted to actually have fun I immedietly uninstalled. you're telling me it got worse???? :') the whole reason I wanted to try this game is because the team said they wanted to be different than the other money hungry companies

Kinda glad I dipped out of this game early on, oof what a mess. I swear companies that make horse games are 9 times out of 10 the absolute WORST. My friend was venting to me about Star Equestrian, who recently dropped a 300$ horse (Among other really greedy things). Well, I think more like 370$ because you need pay VIP first in order to even get it. So an almost a 400$ horse. And since it's all gacha, there is only a 10% chance of even getting it! How fun. Ugh, people just want a nice horse game, is that too much to ask? Yes, apparently it is.

My biggest critique is that they haven't added anything particularly new, yet expect people to pay more. The showjumping and training gets repetitive. It's a game that loses it's charm after hours of doing the same thing.

I actually dropped my phone on my toe when I saw the title. How are they adding more microtransactions? You already have to pay enough as it is....

i started following etg’s development in 2017 it’s crazy to see how greedy they’ve gotten while not giving us half the content they planned to add to the game.

I noticed, and it is quite sad. I was looking forward to buying 4 stalls for 90k cash, but when I got that and looked again it was 39 e-coins. I don't want to be spending real life money on a game like such. I understand they have to make money, but the new update is ridiculous. The competion thing too, I don't want to have to spend that many carrots to compete!

9:42 Regarding alienation of loyal players: As a longterm player I can say I have way too much money saved up over the months for this to really affect me, and I know many other end-game players are in the same boat. I'd imagine the worst hand was dealt to new-ish people who started playing a bit before this update, but who hadn't yet reached end-game when it dropped and therefore have to suffer the consequences without having the luxury of not knowing (''Ignorance is bliss'') that brand new players will have.

Man, i aleays feel like lowering pricess works better, more people can access an item or place but hiking it up make it exclusive in a way. I cannot escape from the hellhole world we live in if i have to pay what would be grocieries for a game. I also cannot do anything as i am jobless and despreately searching.

They could have mitigated the financial strain from the start if they had added paid subscriptions that add certain quality of life boosts, like faster training, faster breeding, breeding at no cost, free market refresh, etc. Maybe a certain amount of coins per week for VIP players. This would be enticing enough for players to buy and support them, without making the game unplayable for free players. Also, the biggest issue here is that they are charging a lot for a game that barely offers anything in return. The gameplay is stale. There is still only one type of competition available. No new colors, marking variations, etc. Yes, pintos are coming, but what about dapples, rabicanos, tovers, overos, and soooo many other coats and mane and tail colors. At the current rate it will take years for them to add any substantial variety to the horses in the game. They keep saying that development is slow, and often keep saying the reason for no new competitions is that they are reworking the riding system. Why in the bloody hell is that taking so f-ing long? Why work on the useless player card, manes, tails, pintos, etc. when there is nothing to play with other than jumping and mindless riding in limited riding areas??? Heck, even breeding is pointless when there are so few color options, and no other competitions that make use of the horses' skills. Ranch of Rivershine, albeit single player, has achieved a TON more in less than a year since EA release by ONE PERSON, than this bloody game that's been out for a few years and is being developed by a team of developers. Who is pulling who by the nose here? I mean seriously. At this point they are making themselves look either extremely incompetent or just plain stupid. Either way, I am done. I lost interest long before these changes, and I am not gaining a speck of it back now.

Equestrian The Game devs competing against themselves to see just how much more they can butcher their image and ruin their game

I had been following the game right back at the start of the 2020 lockdown. I was a 10 year old horse mad little kid, an equestrian too, and had been looking for a mobile game like Star Stable but without the magic and more realism. 4 years on, and SSO has become my main horse game aside from Rival Stars: Horse Racing. ETG had been an easy, fun game when you didn't think about the graphics or the money you spent, and the only reason I still have it installed on my phone is due to the money I've spent - when I know now I shouldn't. My issues with ETG which aren't so much with SSO: - The gaits of the horses are lazy - and yes you have to train them but unlike SSO you don't have a definite answer of how much EXP you'll get with a training session. - The mane/tail styles used to fit the models - tacky, untextured, but they fit. Now they look so cartoony and completely out of place. - The horse models themselves. Rattle, I'm pretty sure you covered this in a pervious video but they do look like they're made out of play-doh which is a complete clickbait for what we were expecting, as the promo pics for the breeds looked so good. - Pricing: The pricing of tack, clothing ect. is obscene. The pricing of the gold of which you purchase the said items is worse. Like I said, the only reason I have the game still installed is due to the real money I have spent on the game. - Development: The game has no development. It's that simple. Since its release, like you covered, we've barely gotten anything - not even new markings for the horses (e.g. Pinto/Rabicano/Dapples/Overo ect...) and it infuriates me due to the fact that they did hint at a pinto marking but never fell through with it. ETG is a money-grabbing sham of an equestrian game if you can even call it that. I was watching it develop and change since the age of 10 or younger. Those developers knew there were young kids out there like me desperate for a good and well represented equestrian game with a reality to how it really is for caring for equines. They used the enthusiasm of children, teens, and adults alike to feed the shammy and miscommunicated development and general game in itself. I'm sure that this game in a year/two years will go bankrupt due to how toxic the devs are and how they duped us all into believing what they wanted us to.

I hope they really fall on their ass with this decision, this game is not even good enough to pay for those season passes. Maybe then they'll be less greedy.

I don't know if they changed it during the last week since I dropped the game but the changes in competitions also affected the Season pass heavily because the fact that it costs you all of your horses stamina to enter one single competition, it's been impossible to unlock stuff in the season pass since you collect XP at a snail's pace. You now have to pay for the season pass, and pay to have the XP to unlock the rewards in said pass. They are milking their players shamelessly and hiding behind financial trouble to cover it up Moreover, "unlocking" new competitions takes forever as well, even if you already have grand prix horses from the season before, you have to unlock each level all over again each season, which is not helped by the fact that , on my phone at least, the updated arenas and meadow make the game lag and freeze like it never did before, which makes competition harder than it ever was before. There was also a bug for at least 2 weeks before the update, where on the grand prix qualifier your horse would stop between the last 2 jumps and just freeze in place. you couldnt ask it to walk, trot or canter, just back up. I had to redo that competition 5 times to get any of my horses to go past that since the moment the jump animation finished on the second to last jump to horse would stop and freeze

The way this game has turned out is so disappointing. I was a patreon back then (did they ever even gave out rewards for that?? Idts), and was so excited to have a good horse game with cool mechanics and beautiful horses and animations. A while ago I uninstalled the game cause it was just wasting space on my phone. It's sad how they went from always sharing what they were doing to now basically only Anthaea (idk if that'show you write her name sorry) shows up to say what's going on, and even then if we show concerns it just gets brushed off, like "sucks to be you, get used to it". At this point I'm just following them out of morbid curiosity, to see when will the lens crack for them, and if when that happens will it be too late or not...

I was so excited for dressage, and the possibility of doing lateral exercises in a horse game, but its been so long with now news. I honestly believe theyre just working on the season clothes and trail ride area, since thats all they put out. They ruined their own game with the crazy pricing, so now I'll probably never play it again. It got boring months ago anyway

And I thought Star Stable was greedy...ETG just takes the cake. I do wish that a really good horse game would come out one day, it's unfortunate how many of them just fail.

The fact that someone is probably paid to make theses marketing choices is alarming lol.

Giving my opinion on the gaming industry situation as someone who is working in the field. My personal experience is that in the last half year or so the situation got worse by a lot at least in the european area especially for indie studios. As publishers and generally the people with money for funding games have watched how after covid they didnt get as much money back as they used to from funding games they are now coming to the conclusion to stop taking on new projects with developers unless they can ensure that they are going to get back x-times the money they will be spending on production. We are pumping out ideas and proposals like never before, so are many other european studios and publishers are really reluctant to bite. This hits hard, as small studios are relying on ongoing deals with publishers back to back without much downtime in the middle to pay their employees. Over the last months many small studios closed or released a big chunk of their employees with things not seeming to get better soon. I myself am uncertain how long and if i can stay working in the field in some months time while some coworkers have already said their good byes recently. So this is the situation... i have no idea though what the ETG devs business model is though. If they rely on publishers or not, what other projects they pursue or if they are soley focused on ETG.. The way they handle things is certainly not transparent with players nor is it a smart way to try and squeeze out every last cent of a game with an established fanbase for a short period of time and killing it off in the long run. It's not just a short dip in the market, we are probably preparing for a marathon of survival in the game industry and quick solutions wont cut it.

I have played ETG since launch. I loved it! Its repetitive, but it's realistic and a good way for me to kill time when my job is slow. I liked the graphics even though the original renderings were nerfed for lower quality. I thought the seasons were cute and I really enjoyed training. I didnt even mind the ads because i could get 2x the exp for training, and speed up breeding. I actually spent money on the game for the first time ever after ads were released because i was excited about breeding and all of the matching tack sets. Then they talked about pinto coats and getting rid of the braided tail, and i was even more excited! Like wow, i wont have to sell a horse i bred because i hate the tail. THEN THEY DID THE UNTHINKABLE and made the manes and tails SO UGLY. I am not adverse to change. I played many horse games over the past 20 years and they all change. But these manes and tails truly suck, but i did appreciate the new realistic world shading. I also didnt mind the economy updates, except competition rewards didnt increase. And i hated that a horse lost 100 energy for each comp. Too much annoying tapping but whatever ill deal. Also i have literally 18,000 carrots so no problem... I continued to play. Then they released this upgrade and i immediately uninstalled. Yeah. No. The game is no longer free to play and its all locked behind a paywall. The "breeding packages" better include starter horses with 700+ potential otherwise it is SCUMMY to sucker in new players with 100-200 pot horses and make them breed all the way up to GP. Breeding high pot wasnt exactly easy previously. Also, locking 3/5 breeds behind a paywall? Super scummy. Whatever. Good for them. New players will come rolling in and older players will continue to play. But i wont be one of them.

I uninstalled the game. I understand they need money to build a game but this is obscene. This feels like they're punishing players for not spending money on the game. Also, this isn't going to pressure new players into buying coins, it'll just push them out. Okay, you said that so I'll stop there. Lol! Honestly, what are they doing? I came in when breeding was added and that was the last big update.

It's wild how nearly every horse game falls into this trap. Even as someone who doesn't really play horse games in general, it's still rough to see. What will it take to good a decent horse game? I'm half tempted to make one myself now, just because...

People will feel more inclined to buy if they see a drop in prices. Not an increase that's obviously greedy.

They are just digging their own grave at this point. I wouldnt be surprised if they made a video months later named "we are shutting down etg". I have uninstalled it from my phone but i stil play sometimes on the computer so hopefully they learn from this and make stuff they promised. I stil wonder what happend to the new ridning system they said they was working on like 1 year ago

It’s all about money I understand if they actually made GOOD updates that players always comment about under their posts, the only interesting thing we have in this game are the seasons that in my experience get really boring after a while and AGAIN you still have to spend money on clothes ect. Can I also mention the fact that I don’t really understand why they put their efforts into changing the manes and tails (really pointless imo) when we are still waiting for paints and other stuff? It just feels like a big scam, I’m just disappointed

Horse games need to step it up, I’m tired of this greed just because the horse game market is low key desperate, if people actually made games and weren’t getting greedy we wouldn’t NEED to be so desperate, I’ll spend money when the game is good just as I did on sso back in 2014-2016, now I won’t spend a single penny on sso because it’s simply undeserving of my money and isn’t the product I paid 50$ for on a lifetime membership years ago

I'm in a few fb groups for ETG and in one of them a mod is being aggressively positive in their support for the devs, like if you post ANYTHING even mildly critical they comment with something like how "the devs are working hard and we need to be positive!!" It's honestly so tiring, I feel like I can't express myself honestly in that group, but it's the biggest group so far so I don't want to just leave it

Why should people pay for a game if there isn't really a game?? 😒

I've followed this game since it's early development. It promised to be SO much more than it currently is, the discord thing turned me off from the game but I've tried coming back a couple times and the lack of content or real updates just turned me off entirely. I understand that games all have to start somewhere and I can appreciate that the ETG team may need a few more years to get the ball rolling. Honestly though? So far this game has been nothing but microtransactions and very much so gives a "pay to win" feeling if you want anything nice in game. Equestriad is a fairly good game, has a pretty similar feel to ETG, has microtransactions but it doesn't exclude you or make it impossible for you to get some premium items if you can't pay insane amounts of money. AND the game has way more content! When ETG has more game mechanics and technically is capable of having more content than Equestriad, *somehow* Equestriad is the better game.

Thankyou for this. My sense of betrayal at their paywalling the trailer horses was intense but soon turned to anger. I found your first video about them and felt they deserved a second negative. You delivered. I've not uninstalled because I'm hoping they'll undo it and I can resume my cremello fresian project, but I haven't high hopes. Just desperate ones. I won't ever give them another cent either way, so their greedy grab has backfired for this consistent season pass buyer. On the plus side, looking for options led me to your video on Ranch of Rivershine and that's where my next game budget is going. I've spent more than 600 hours in Paleo Pines, a game who's story can be completed in an afternoon if you try hard and then time is spent tending crops, cleaning pens and looking for more pretty/rare dino friends. I think the Grind of Rivershine might actually appeal to me. And the developer(s?) seems way less greedy than others right now. Thanks!

I hate the fact I was excited about this game. Always claiming to be the most ‘realistic’ game, yet couldn’t groom or bond with your horse other than riding. And now, just wanting people to pay over $100 for coins, and forcing players to spend coins on horses. Nope! I’m gone. They’ve got a long way to go to bring me back.

I gave up on this game shortly after it released to the UK. Completed all the competitions within a day and when they updated the game making it harder I just stopped playing as the amount of bugs was insane

Now star stables doesn't sound so bad.

I swear they've js upped the prices of e-coin horses as well. Literally right now in the update. All the ones I've looked at in the shop (3 refreshes) cost 75 ecoins instead of the (slightly) more reasonable 45-55 e-coins. Such a cash grab at this point

They have the same business model as a kid that thinks charging £50 at a lemonade stand will make them rich, not realising that less people are going to be willing to spend that, and are unlikely to return to buy again, meaning their income may be less or equal to what it was before despite the charge increase

I'm a F2P player by heart. However, if I'm really enjoying the game I'm playing, I will look for ways to support the devs. If I feel like I'm being milked for money, I'm 100% less likely to give you my money. It's because of people who have too much disposable income, who feed these predatory monetisation practices without a care, devs just keep doing it. For example, I bought the DLC for Baldur's Gate 3 (which gave you a couple cosmetic items, some consumables and potions as well as soundtrack files) simply because I wanted to throw more money at the devs for making such a stupendous game. Or at least I, personally, had such a blast playing it.

Helldivers is a really good example of a small game developer team pulling together really well. They are not charging an astronomical price, they understand that their game has issues and are actually discouraging people from buying or playing it until they can get everything worked out. And because of that transparency and because they're constantly working on fixing this, people are absolutely flocking to this game. It doesn't have to be perfect, and in fact it doesn't even have to work 100% of the time. If you have a good concept, you have good graphics, and you're not charging an astronomical amount, people will see this and flock to it and you will make more than what you are projected to make. The problem comes with games like this is they think they're only way of making money or revenue is by putting all these microtransactions and when in reality that hurts the game because no one wants to spend $100 for small little microtransactions just to be able to customize hairstyles

The micro transactions remind me of Dreamlight Valley. There’s “we need this to keep the game going” and then there’s Gameloft greed where the second people aren’t feeding their greed they shut down your servers and steal all the money you put in..

Honestly the way Rival Stars does their mobile system is top tier. Wait times suck for training and such, but the fact that I can earn gold coins by having good horses compete in live events? My favorite system. Completely the opposite of star stable and ETG

Before the game even came out I tried to apply to a ux junior internship because the team sounded nice and I really loved that there is people out there who seemed to care about horse games. Got a rejection. Really sad this is how it turned out and happy I didn't get accepted.

Well this certainly explains why I've been getting more ads about this game. I only played this game ONCE (1-1,5year ago?) for like an hour, got bored and deleted it. It is very sad to see this game be in this state and that it hasn't gotten any better since their discord fiasco. Also them leading you to their website where prices are more expensive should be illegal because it FEELS illegal thing to do. I was a supporter of this game since the first hour, I followed it's development very eagerly. When it finally released I bought every Season pass and bought coins several times for around a year. Within this time frame absolutely nothing happened. After the incident with their Discord they have lost my trust and I stopped pumping money into ETG and shortly after I quit completely. I'm still following their progress but meanwhile I am pretty convinced that they are scamming their community. I really really doubt that they work on any significant content for this game any longer and I'm very sure there's no new content coming anymore ever. They haven't shown any progress since years, there weren't any WIPs or teasers anymore since literally forever. This game isn't gonna change, I'm pretty sure about that.

does anyone know how many people are in the developing team now? I remember at the beginning it was just the molly girl and maybe 2 - 3 additional people. they claimed that they are going to hire a new team after full launch if I remeber it corectlly, but with the nothing updates (downgrades) I am wondering whether they aren't cutting the budget on the staff too

If your barn is over level 10 for me to upgrade my horse barn to level 11 in this game I think it’s 59 coin now it was 70,000 cash which wasn’t a big deal for me because I have like 130,000 now but I’m not gonna spend 59 coin on that. I’ll just weed out horses that I don’t ride much.

They know old time players are gone or leaving the game because of the lack of content and bad QA management so they found solution to get money from new players that don’t know how bad they’re being robbed 😔 And the horse being buyable by premium currency is not secure enough for young players to understand how much real money they’re spending (like sso really🙄). It’s a shame really cause as you said if they pour the work from the start, it would have paid for itself

And their recent update? Where the price of custom creation horses has been UPPED? It was 90 coins flat before, but now it's 99-149 coins for the same thing?? And the way that you can't even get access to pintos without purchasing them with coins?

Not even coins every week, there's actually no logic or sense about what you get for your daily reward, it's all random. So the shiny purple and gold box on day seven is a complete lie

I didn't mind the game at first. I really liked the designs, but there wasn't much guidance. For a while, they just told me to "upgrade my horse" in order to enter the grand prix, but they never told me what needed upgrades.

I desperately miss AVH that I cling to any game which somewhat resembles it.

I dont mind seeing horses for Gold but atleast value them for it. Like Rival Star does with breeding exotic coats for gold on mobile. ETG should do high stated and potential horse. Atleast above 900. But no they didnt, the gold horses are often lower then 600 POT for me. Why would I look at the trailer when I can breed my horses with atleast a Potentail of 800?

Not to mention theres only 2 overpriced horse options to buy that aren't for premium coins now

As someone who's been following ETG since the soft launch in Iceland/NZ, got to witness all the discord mayhem first hand, etc: I can't see this game having any longevity. If it shuts down, I'm not losing sleep over it. They're marketing it as a free-to-play game but as time goes on I honestly think they've disillusioned themselves as to what free-to-play means. At best, it's just free-to-download.
