she’s actually making the whole album into a book and a movie! and i believe there’s gonna be a trilogy of album’s too, the next one is called “preacher’s wife”
I will die to hear this song for the first time again, it is an experience You should review the album, for me Preacher’s Daughter is the best album of 2022, IT IS AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM, the production is SO GOOD
YESSSS Ptolemea is ART, i definitely agree we need a short horror film from Hayden. Written and Directed, everything. The guitar breakdown and everything is my fav part. ❤ so scary tho LOL
Yesss Preacher's Daughter is one of my favorite album ever, the storytelling of it all is just sad and tragic but beautiful! I would also like to see your reaction on Strangers, Sun Bleached Flies and Family Tree as they are some of my favorites!
technically speaking august underground is when ethel dies but if you listen to the acapella version, i really do think this is where her murder starts. 1) i am the face of love's rage - invokes images of women after theyve been murdered by their partners. 2) the voice on the track and the flies to me r all her talking to death. its v the girl who loved tom gordon esque tbh. so i think this is while she's ODing and shes hallucinating conversations with death. 3) august underground then is where shes trying to run away & isaiah brings her back and closes the door on her in the attic. im of two minds, imo either she ODs/aspirates & Isaiah just chooses not to get her medical attention and lets her die. or isaiah strangled her but im waiting to see how hayden writes it.
This is one of those songs that I am in awe of, and appreciate entirely as the art that it is in every layer and respect. That being said, I could never add it to a playlist or listen to it casually in any capacity. It invokes such a deep unease and panic in my soul that to have it pop up on shuffle mode in a playlist would be..... nahhhhhhh man. This song is intentional. In the way that Ethel Cain does everything intentionally, so too does the listener have to INTENTIONALLY seek this one out (after the first listen of course). Because I couldn't imagine just having it follow anything or be followed by anything (other than its neighbours on the album). I don't think my brain could handle it either.
