Etho Plays Minecraft - Episode 551: Ultimate Unfinished Project 

Etho: *dies* Etho 2mins later: "we have surpassed the survival aspect of our world, we have moved into the information age!"

Been seeing many people call this project Etho's lab, forgetting about the brewery with the same name. Hence we should call this Etho's lab 2: Electric Bugaloo

The best line of the whole series may be: "Etho was slain by Cheetho"

Just putting this out there, but if Etho ever decided to stream this is the perfect project for it because viewer input would make it so much more.

I'd love to see a long corridor where you walk through different rooms in a straight line, and where every rooms represents an update to Minecraft. So the first room just has stone, dirt, trees (and water?), and then you add new stuff to each room going forward, like animals, new blocks, the Nether, etcetera. Like a living timeline of updates with landscaping. That'd be neat.

Hey Etho, maybe when the main part of this build is complete, you could have some sort of "achievement roller coaster" which would be a machine essentially designed to give you all the advancements from a fresh account Edit: wow this blew up! Thanks for the appreciation and I hope Etho sees this. I saw quite a few people make designs for something like this, but never in survival. It would make a nice addition for the next world tour.

You should make a ”historical” part in each room, like when rails had infinite speed, water bridges and so on, then you could really see how minecraft has changed

I think this idea is really cool and has a lot of potential, the only thing I’m a little worried about is the scope. This project is just so HUGE. That being said this is not the first time I’ve been skeptical of a project idea. When you proposed the nexus so many years ago it sounded insane to me but you finished it and it’s so impressive. I think it will be fun discovering and recording all the game mechanics, world generation, building techniques, etc and I know that if anyone could do it it’s you.

If there was ever a time to stream, i think this project is it. It seems like the definition of grinding (digging out all the rooms, getting all the appropriate things like all the different tools and enchants...) also having an active audience could help with getting facts & figures right as well as giving you ideas and their input.

I hope there's a "things I invented/discovered" room. Time to drop the humble Canadian act Etho.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is just going to be a 50 episode build up to a "yo mama" joke.

This Ultimate Unfinished Project actually feels like the perfect final thesis for Etho's minecraft series. Like, his entire goal has been to showcase interesting designs and facts about the game, and if this project could ever be completed, that mission would be too.

Us: So what do you want to build? A base? A storage room? A zoo? Etho: Yes

Etho be like: "So last world tour took 2HOURS!!!!! so in the episode right after it, we will start to create a project that will make the world tour AT LEAST double that!! Perfect!"

i dont think etho realizes the impact hes had in my and many other peoples lives. He got me through dark times and made me have someone to look up to and i was actually excited for him to upload.

Hey Etho, It's a great and insanely ambitious project, you're legitimately never going to see the end of it. As others noted, it should absolutely be coined "Etho's Lab". The magnum Opus of one legendary canadian :) A couple elements/suggestions/questions relating to the project idea: - What happens when mechanics deprecate/disappear or straight up change, or simply you can't keep up with the pace of new additions ? (I know MC takes a long time to update nowadays, but given you need to collect materials, design the exhibits, and generally also have to do all the recording stuff and live an IRL life, it still will take you tremendous amounts of time) - Have you considered getting help not just from the community, but from the wiki team and/or mojang? (Not that they should do it with/for you, but they could provide much needed extra information and behind-the-scenes data. (Imagine Etho's Lab being a "reference" world for the wiki. good times) - Having little exteriors (at least for everything spare the building techniques) is a good idea, as for the interior a good inspiration lies in art galleries: neutral/light colors and fairly minimalistic design. Too much color, texture, or detailing would take the attention away from the exhibits (This does not mean making cubic rooms full of white concrete. Obviously some (small) decoration can come into play so it's not *too* bland. - Keeping things in theme and connected will be important. This doesn't mean making the entire wiki-complex the same theme, but rooms should have the same block palette when they belong to the same large category (with some slight detailing indicating the belonging to a particular subcategory >> example GAME MECHANICS rooms are white, and theres a floor pattern that is the same for same-subject rooms ex: mining/digging/tools) ***Important*** - I assume you will make farm rooms? What about starting with all of those? This way you can make exhibits off of the mob and item farms and so on, AND you can use them for the rest of the project. Efficiency! **************** Right now that's all that I'm thinking about off the top of my head, I'm sure many more things will come up in the comments. Personally I'm a fan of the idea, but this is a ludicrously large project. I hope you will find the continuous support from the community and the willpower to keep working on it over the inevitable months and years it will take you :) Peace, and long live Etho

Hey Etho, one aesthetic that would be cool to see would be the kind of mountain monkhood vibe. Maybe with paths hugging the side of mountains and rickety bridges spanning the amplified terrain

I remember watching ethos Lab when I was about 13 years old every single day never missed an episode all the way from I think about the beginning to about 250 and then I got caught up in life totally forgot about ethos Lab and now I'm finally getting back to watching the videos it's like hanging out with an old friend and the dedication still going towards the videos is just amazing keep up the good work my friend

ah yes we have sneakyE's, ShadyE's and now WikiE's. go for it, its a huge project but its a whole load of content, enough there to not burn out on but also a rather daunting idea. ide watch it though, its a really cool idea

When zombie villagers are weak and fed a golden apple, their weakness effect is replaced with a strength effect (notice that the potion particles turn red). That's why you died early.

Hey Etho, since this is a huge project why don’t you live stream chunks of it, you could get second opinions super quick with live chat and show us the video making and build process!

The only issue I see is the game is constantly changing so won’t there just be a bunch of inaccurate info after a while?

Methinks that the different areas of the level should be color coded accordingly to their use; so for example, the red stone museum would be red and the game mechanics room would be green. Maybe not as the main color, but as an accent piece

I don’t think the viewers will know if they like it or not until you’ve spent awhile working on it. If people are getting bored, you can always take an episode or two off. Also you could always just leave it unfinished at some point, it doesn’t have to be an all or nothing commitment. I’m very excited for it though, will add an element of cohesiveness and overarching goals to the series!

Hey etho, Instead of using tunnels for 'links' in the project, you could use ender pearl teleporters so it could be a more fluid experience similar to a wiki.

Use armor stands of Steve’s to show how to do that task, like minions or crafting, etc

I really like the "interactive Wiki" idea! I am very excited to see how it will go! Since it's going to be such a massive project it will certainly pay off to have a good plan (but obviously it's going to change as progress is made). I think it may actually be most appropriate to think about this project more like writing a book than just making a cool build. I'm not a writer but I think the best way to approach this is to split it into two "processes": a) Think about what you want to say and show and collect those ideas in (uncategorised) little "snippets" b) Think about how to structure those ideas to make a cohesive whole I'm not saying first a), then b), because the way the overarching structure should be will only reveal itself as you're working on it, and at the same time thinking about the categories/rooms that there will be will show where "snippets" are missing or redundant or excessive. So, one has to go back and forth between these two modes of thinking and they depend on one another, but still I think it's important to consider them as two distinct processes. Otherwise it is (as it is such a broad project) very hard to stay focused. From the little I know about writing, one has to reorganize and shuffle what's already written several times during the process, so it may be smart to build a lot of the components in creative before committing them to the survival world. Sorry for the wall of text but I am very excited about the project! Thanks for the great videos :)

This project is a perfect fit for a world that is in the state yours is. The statement you made about being "past" the "survival" age, and in the "information" age is really on point: You don't need farms for more stuff. You've got stuff. A showcase of what, and how, the game is, especially at the level of detail it sounds like you want to achieve, sounds really exciting, especially built by someone with the history and knowledge you have. Looking forward to it.

This is the single most ambitious project ever and I love it, and if anyone could do it, it would be you. My suggestion though however is I think it would be so cool to pay homage to all your Minecraft series, what really got me thinking of that is you standing in the new skele farm and me thinking huh looks like a Pokeball and how it would be awesome to compile and build something for each series you had to not just commemorate Minecraft but yourself Etho. I would love to see things that reference back to Legendary, Pixelmon, the original terrafirma, The CTM series and the other modded series, and servers such as flyboys and even mindcrack. And personally would love to see you create Taxes from Project ozone as some form of statue or pixel art. Maybe even some non-minecraft series such as putting things to reference your lets play of sam and max, don't starve, Ark, cube world, starbound, terraria, Pixel Piracy, SOTES the pit even harvest moon and, I have watched all those series and loved them. Not just showing all of minecraft history but your history here on youtube would be awesome to add, I do hope you see this, and thank you for the years of entertainment.

Idk what category you would put this in, but you should definitely have a "Diamond burnability test" somewhere. Very important information to keep track of...

Hey Etho, You can try and make some sort of cobblestone cube where you enter in from the bottom or top, and can mine out in a 'sphere' around you to show how far you can mine in each direction. On the outside you can have a lever to toggle the cobble gens so you can repeat the experiment. Maybe some idea is to adjust your starting position, by using different sized blocks you can show what the circle is for some major positions (middle of the block, on the left side, on the right side, etc.) Good luck on designing the (digital)Physical wikipedia in minecraft!

I love this project SO MUCH! Its going to make such good content, watching you get all the stuff organized and put together, and it will be so fun to look at when there is eventually another world tour.

If Etho isn't still doing RU-vid in ten years this project is not going to get finished, or half way done. Although, Etho has been doing amazing in finishing things, *cough* library *cough*, but I am down to watch this. It'll be great to watch you build this project as everything will be different. Also will be nice for newer viewers to be through the entire build of something as large as this awsome project. Really looking forward and a great video!

I made the realization the other day that I have been subscribed to etho for almost a decade now. I'm 22 yrs old and hes been a part of my life now for nearly half of it, it truly is amazing! The joy I get when I see a post from him has only increased with the longer I've been subscribed and it really has become a special piece of nostalgia that a value significantly. Thanks Etho!!!

Now that you have most the infrastructure minecraft has we needed a MEGA Project to continue the world. This idea is truly fitting for where you are in your series and Minecraft career. I was expecting a Museum or a Zoo for the project. You have proposed both! I believe that we are all stoked for where this is going to head. 100+ episodes, 10+ more years... Etho, count me in! I am a subscriber for life. My advice is to set yourself the ground rules early on. How the exhibits/displays are going to be setup, how the lecterns are wiki information is going to be conveyed, the major color palette/room design, tunel design, etc. Lastly, because this is such a large endeavor have you given any thought to how you might handle any major minecraft updates?

Love the idea and also that you will do this part time. I think having this wiki as a main project and lots of side projects will make the series very dynamic and interesting! Thanks as always!

Hey Etho! I was thinking about this new everything museum project you're starting. It surely is going to be a huge undertaking, a museum of that caliber would need someone to look after it and I think I know just the person for the job. He's highly ranked in the creeper military and you blew his house up many years ago. I think it would only be fair to give our old friend Spaz a job to help him get back on his feet. He could even be a sort of tour guide with mine cart tracks bringing him along with you throughout the museum! Anyways, thanks for all that you've done Etho, you have been one of the few constant things I can count on in life, keep it up buddy!
