Hey Etho, here's something handy to know about breeding horses for their health stat (if you didn't know already). Since each heart of the horse occupies two health points, a horse with an odd amount of health will have their health cut off, since their health bars don't have half hearts. This means a horse with 21 HP will only have 10 hearts! But you can test to see if the horse has an odd amount of health by punching it and immediately riding to see if any health was deducted from their bar. If they are missing half a heart, their health bar is accurate, but if the heart is still full, then they have 1 more health point than it appears. This is useful when you're trying to reach 30 HP (15 hearts) but don't know if your newly bred horses don't have 29 or 28 HP. Hope this helps in your super mule journey!

I love how you made the walls a uniquely shaded gradient; it suits the tunnel shape and floor design, and adds a lovely sense of depth. The red banners at the entrance complement the interior really well! If you do add more areas, it might be cool to assign each its own banners too, perhaps with their own designs? Etho, for the main issue with Wilson where you have trouble explaining what's going on with the redstone or even figuring that out yourself upon coming back to the project, why not color code the blocks you're placing redstone on? Seeing Wilson's wiring all jumbled together on a mass of stone bricks reminds me of someone writing all their code for a program in a single method. Good programs usually split their code amongst different methods or functions making them super easy to read since everything is nicely organized. You could do this by using different colored terracotta, clay, or really anything else to represent unique functions. All the redstone wiring pertaining to one function would be on a certain colored terracotta block, another function would be on a different colored terracotta block, and so on. You could then have a reference guide off to the side with a sign on each different block you used either naming the function or giving a brief description. For a complicated project like Wilson, you might run out of unique blocks, but you could get away with repeating some as long as the duplicates are far enough away from each other, so you can still easily distinguish between them. I'm not saying you should do a Wilson 2.0 since that has the potential to be an even bigger project than the Nexus, but if your biggest issue with doing it really is explaining and remembering what everything does, I figured this was a decent solution.
@EthosLab
@EthosLab Год назад
That's a good idea for most redstone builds, but there is not a lot of repetition in Wilson's wiring that would allow for groups like that. Most of those wires each do something unique. What makes it even more complex is that most of the wires also interconnect to 1 or 2 other things... so they have more than 1 function.

Etho, you are amazing! Your inventions are so inspiring and you avoid any sort of toxicity, grift, or clickbait in your videos. Thank you so much for sharing your playstyle with the world.

You could do Wilson 2.0 in a similar fashion to TangoTek’s Decked Out. Meaning different components in different locations with buss lines between them. That would make it easier to show on videos and be a different style of redstone engineering for you to explore!
@synniestar
@synniestar Год назад
oh, this is an intriguing idea. i still have a bit of a hard time following tango's redstone in decked out videos but that's just because i don't grok redstone at all. the fact that it's all separated out does help clarify things so that would be a neat way to handle it.

Hey Etho, you mentioned in one of your latest episodes that the aerial view of sandy city was pretty plain. It would be neat if you made some of your old pixel art on the roofs using carpet, harvest moon or minecraft icons, since there already is a bit of wool in the build. One of the market stalls in there could be a carpet shop, I forget if there is one already.

Wilson has a very special spot in my heart. I started watching you right around when you started making Wilson (and went back and watched all the way from episode 1) and that has to be probably my favorite redstone concept that you have ever made. To see a Wilson 2.0 would be AWESOME. Obviously you have valid points with not wanting to get so complex that viewers would get confused, but perhaps you can combat that some by color coding the different systems.

The fact that Etho is actively seeking out items that never get used and finding a fun and interesting purpose for them is literally the definition of "he's done with the main story and just wrapping up all the side quests" lol

I always thought it makes a difference whether you get a perfectly charged jump or just a nearly perfectly charged one (orange but not completely full), but Etho seems to disagree since he discarded the baby donkey without trying to get a perfect jump. Can anyone confirm whether there is any difference?
@EthosLab
@EthosLab Год назад
It doesn't need to be fully charged, it just needs to hit the orange to count as a max jump.

At the end what you said about the instant damage + looting, that is kind of like the TNT looting systems we see in other farms where you have a arrow in status shot by a mob which now holds a looting sword. That arrow ignites TNT placed by the player and uses it to kill mobs. It also doesn't use TNT duping, which I think you try to avoid, so you could also use that.

The design of the ultimate enchanting room reminds me a lot of designs of earlier mancave projects, but in a style that makes use of modern minecraft building materials and techniques, I think its a nice little example of how the style of this channel and series has both grown and retained its roots at the same time.

Hey Etho I was messing around with ender pearls and figured out how to make the auto re-fill enderporters, you can actually use pistons and sensors without even loading the chunks, you just use water! Needs a 3 block tall bubble stream and then it's just a regular water system, I didn't get it to a point I liked with splitters, but boosting(redirecting) is really easy, you just need a sculk sensor and a counter, you can center a pearl with a backwards water stream I think the closest a booster can be is 5-8 blocks I had just one water stream before boosting/splitting. I stopped working on it because I had to do other stuff and now I've lost the world, but it's really easy so I'll probably remake it soon, I'd love to make some videos and see if anyone can help because I'm not smart enough to get the splitting working good, it did work though! Hope you all have a great day
