Etimo Tulip VS Clover Armour crochet hooks | Comparison and review of crochet hooks

I decided to join in the heated debate of which of these hooks are better. The Etimo Tulip and Clover Armour crochet hooks are very similar in style and in pricing so they are often compared to each other. So when I got the Etimo hooks as a gift I just knew I needed to make an honest comparison between those hooks and the clover hooks I already owned. After 6 months of using both hooks, I have finally decided which ones are my favorites.
If you are interested in the hooks you can purchase them by following the below links:
Please note, prices on everything have gone up since last I checked. If you are patient I am certain you can get the Clover hooks at a cheaper price. At a minimum, if you are near a Joan's then you can use a coupon and purchase a set through them

I’ve had my Tulip set for over 3 years. I crochet between 12 and 18 hours a day and the printed label looks exactly the same as the day I purchased them. I also own the Clover set which I like but my go to set is Tulip. I am a pencil grip cricketer if that helps

This is GREAT info! I have heard that the tulip is more appealing to a pencil grip crocheter than clover is - this is excellent feedback about that

I have both sets the Tulip Etimos and the Clovers. I reach for my Clovers first, they're my favorites. I gifted the Etimos to my great niece who started crocheting recently. She loves them, and as a beginner she found them so much easier to use than your standard metal hooks (torture devices, I call them, lol)

I've watched several video reviews and read blogs on the Tulips. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I'm doing thorough research before investing. $$ lol I own Clovers now, but I also want a set of Tulips for the aesthetic, the uniform look of them. :) Everyone new to Tulip mentions the sticker being a drawback, but I've read many comments and seen update reviews. They all say the stickers haven't budged after years of use. And the hooks still look good. That's great to know. I bought one Tulip to sample. I love it. I felt no slight "drag" when compared to my Clovers. (Knife gripper.) Just adding my comments for other shoppers who are researching. :)

Me, again… I just received my set of Grey Tulips.. The case is great… The Tulipsvare definitely lighter..and they slip,very easily through the yarn… I got them from Amazon, and paid only $50___down from $98. A real bargain.. I have been using the Tulips all morning, and I think I am going to love them. I’m definitely glad I bought them. They are a great addition to my hook collection, and compliment my beloved clovers. Neither has a drag…and both feel very comfortable in my hands.

I love Tulip. Fits my hand perfectly. And I’m a knife holder. I like the thumb rest. Also I like the label on Tulip telling in good print the hook size. I can’t see the hook size on Clover. Nor am I going to remember the colours for the hook size. plus Clover doesn’t provide a case. I do have Clover. Tulip provides a nice case, scissors, yarn needles and other bits. I do think it also depends how comfortable you are using your favourite hooks. I’m very used to Tulip. And not so much with Clover. And the printed hook size on the Tulips, does not fade or rub off. Had mine for a few years now. It’s good we have so much choice in crochet hooks.cheap hooks are rubbish though. Get the best hooks that you can reasonably afford.

my Clover 4.5mm....I was using that Sugar and Cream cotton and one day the shaft came loose from the handle. It didn't come out, and still hasn't. I emailed Clover and they said they would replace it for free, I just haven't sent it because I'm lazy. Clover is still my favorite. I'm currently doing a blanket with a tulip, however!

I LLOOOVVVVEEE my Clover Amour ❤ I’m going to pick up a 5mm tulip just to compare to the 5mm clover I’m using now on a project. I’ll come back and comment what I liked better ❤ I’m a knife grip crocheter. The clovers roll so nicely between my fingertips for quick efficient crochet 💜 Also depends on the type of yarn. Clovers and tulip I think both would work great with all yarn But I noticed - I have a resin hook from another company and it’s horrible for natural cotton and wool. It’s sticks to the yarn terribly. - at least that was my experience So now I just use metal hooks ❤
@LeahElisheva
@LeahElisheva 4 месяца назад
I received my 5mm tulip etiome red crochet hook. I like it. But my clover is more smooth- at least with this type of yarn I’m using- I notice a slight difference in friction. The yarn is Caron Jumbo- multicolored green. It’s not a quality yarn and it splits but not so much with my clover or tulip. I can use both interchangeably and be happy. The handle is very comfortable.

my favorite hooks are the prym, susan bates & the tulip! I think the tulip has more of an inbetween tip where its a little pointed but not crazy like susan bates. But also not super roound. Do you mean the Ergonomic Boye? YES - they are very nice - I wold highly recommend getting the clover hooks on the ones ... 8mm and higher (I think - it might be 7mm and higher) only IF you don't like heavier hooks. Clover changes how the hooks are made at the higher mm and they are much lighter.

I think it is the adhesive agent on the ergonomic handle is loosening. I have only been feeling it on my 5.5mm, and only one of them, which is my most used (outside of the 8mm). Clover Amour hun... like the French word for love. Sounds like ahm-more. There's only an R at the end. Super cool that you're a leftie! There's so many lefties that struggle with learning to crochet, it's nice to see someone using the other hand. Totally going to check out your other videos.💕 I really like that you showed the hooks from both the front and profile perspectives. Clover looks like it leans slightly more towards an inline from the profile view, with the Tulip extending a smidge further. I'm a big fan of Susan Bates hooks, so that (and also the smooth glide and price point) really appeals to me. Since my stitches are tight, sometimes I struggle with the enlarged head of the Boye style of inline hooks. I do like them when I want a looser stitch though. Tapered seems to hold onto thicker yarn better too, in my opinion. You review much like I would, if I did that kind of thing... only I prefer the 5mm hooks. I won't hold that against ya, though. LOL Nice review!
