Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be going over a few details and showing you how to install the Air Lift WirelessONE EZ Mount Air Compressor on our 2022 GMC Sierra 2500. One of the biggest reasons why people will add an onboard air compressor to pair with their vehicle's airbags is because they get tired of having to fill up their airbags to a certain PSI just to haul a load. You have no adjustability. I mean, you always have the option to let air out, but you're gonna have to find an air compressor or carry one with you if you want to add air into the bags. Adding a wireless air compressor to your vehicle is gonna give you the ultimate adjustability when you're out on the road hauling a load.
Now a lot of people have a question that if they're relying on an air compressor to air up their airbags what do they do if they have a dead battery or if some wires come unhooked If something happens Well, you will always have a fail safe because on the back of our vehicle your kit will come with two Ts for your air lines. What we do is run the air line back, T it off into the bags and then we T it off again and come back to our manual fill down here on our bumper. So worst comes the worst. If your air compressor fails or if something happens you can always inflate and deflate your airbags. And the best part about this kit is that with the push of a button from their remote that is included in the kit or from the app on your cell phone you can inflate and deflate your bags to preset settings, to custom settings and get your airbags to the right PSI for the load that you're hauling.
Now as far as the insulation goes, the EZ Mount bracket is gonna make it very, very easy to get it mounted up on the frame. It's gonna take you about 10 to 15 seconds to get it mounted up. And the hardest part of most installations is going to be very, very easy in this installation, especially on the 22 Sierra you have to run the air lines to your airbags and back to that manual fitting on the back and then you're gonna have to run your wiring up to your battery. With that being said, let's pull it in the shop and show you how we did it. For the first part of our installation we need to start by mounting up our compressor.
Now there's gonna be three ways that you can do this. You can use the self tapping screws, hex bolts or you can use the EZ Mount U-bolt that's included in the kit. For these two situations for either of the bolts you can use those if you have a open frame so like a C-channel style frame where you drill the holes in the frame and then you thread the bolts through. That is going to be, typically only if you wanna mount it sideways. If you wanna mount it vertically like we're going to I definitely would recommend using the U-bolt.
If you have a tube frame like we do it's gonna be really hard to use these other two options. So we're gonna use the U-bolt, that way in case we have any problems, we can just take off two of the nuts and the U-bolt will come right off. So we're gonna need to mount our compressor somewhere between this cross brace underneath and the rear axle. So the pretty much the only option we have, since we're using the U-bolt, is right here in front of this brace and behind this one. So right in the middle. So all you have to do is stick that up in place and you'll see there's two different sets of holes. All we have to do is line 'em up. I like to get it in a the higher position if you can. Actually, we're not gonna be able to do that because of the the size of this U-bolt, and then line right up, make sure it's straight up and down. And now we can throw on our washer and nylon lock nuts. (metal scraping) Now you can mount your compressor in any orientation except for two. You do not want this plugin facing down and you do not want the airlift symbol facing down so the unit can't be flipped on end and bolted up like this. So mounted in this location, we're pretty well safe from our front tires, from any debris or anything 'cause we have a lot of cross members here protecting it. So this is the best place for our situation. Now when tightening these nylon lock nuts you wanna make sure to tighten them back and forth so that you have even pressure on the top and bottom.
