Today we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System with Sway Control. This uses trunnion style arms. It offers a 10,000 pound gross trailer weight rating and a 1,000 pound tongue weight rating. Part number on it is C17500. The one thing that's really going to set this TruTrack system apart from all the other ones out there on the market. We're going to view our anti-sway design. As we're headed down the road sometimes our camper will want to start swaying on us.
If you look right here we've got a small ball bearing. That's designed to sit right in the detent as it is now when our vehicle is in it's straight line position. As our trailer starts to sway that ball is forced up by a spring.that ball gets pushed down and that ball bearing runs in a track that goes around the outside, as we straighten out that ball bearing sits right back down into it's original location in the detent and it holds our trailer straight. As we're heading down the highway and that typical sway that we'll have this helps to prevent that and from the odd chance that it does ever start with this system it fights to get it right back into its original location. Something else that is really nice is gonna be your quick release arms here. Just a simple bail pin and clip once removed that will allow us to slide out our torsion arms.
With this style anti-sway control it virtually eliminates the need for any of the friction style add-on brackets that you see on a lot of campers and our torsion bars these are going to be a forged steel material. It's not a cast steel, so they're going to be much stronger and offer us much more spring. Our torsion bars are held in place by the small L bracket that you see here. That's held in place by a small clip, so really easy to unattach here. We're not dealing with the chains where we gotta lever them up and hope we're in the right link or something like that. It's gonna sit right on top of our L bracket and additionally this L bracket provides additional anti-sway control by creating a little bit of friction, as we turn left, as we turn right it's going to give us a little bit of friction as we're heading down the road to prevent any of that swaying from starting to occur. Now right here at the front is another secret to the success of this weight distribution system.
We're going to have 5 adjustable locations all the way through this hitch to determine at what point or at what angle our ball mounts actually sitting, so the more angle we have the more weight distribution effect we're going to have. This can easily be changed from one vehicle to another. It's not often you're going to have multiple towing vehicles, but if you do it's just as easy as loosening up our two bolts, adjusting it into the setting 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 and then tightening those bolts right back down. Another great feature that you'll see, the grease inserts here on the rear of both of our trunnions is going to allow us to lubricate these and keep them working great for a long time. Curts going to stand behind their product as well and they offer you a 10-year limited warranty. The Curt TruTrack is designed for a towing weight of 800 pounds up to 1,000 pounds.
The Curt TruTracks offers a gross maximum tow weight rating of 10,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight rating of 1,000 pounds. Designed for use in 2 inch by 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. Now we've gone over the specifics about what makes the Curt TruTrack very unique and been very handy to have, but the main goal that we get after with the weight distribution hitch is that sometimes the capacities on our tongue or the tongue weights are really high for our vehicle and it causes the rear of our vehicle to squat down. While it doesn't look too hot going down the road, but that's also going to put excessive wear and tear on the rear suspension components of your vehicle and can also lift the front of your vehicle up slightly causing you not to have as much pressure pushing down on those front wheels. Of course on normal dry pavement maybe not no big deal, but once it starts to get a little wet or get a little slippery that may cause us some issues.
