EU4 Timelapse - Novgorod: Frozen Assets

A timelapse of my Novgorod game in Europa Universalis 4, in which I go for the Frozen Assets achievement. In order to fulfil the criteria for this I had to turn the White Sea into the richest trade node in the world, while controlling 90% of the trade there.
The game was played on patch 1.19 (Rights of Man), and had all of the major DLCs enabled.

@@winterman2668 Novgorod was a Viking City that rose to become a country of it's own, Rurik built his Rus kingdom around conquered Kiev later on.

i find it a little bit autistic that these last updates make kebab sometimes become a colonial power, even tho in my games were they take exploration ideas they're generally locked in the mediterranean , still, great content, and was interesting finally seeing the dynamics of the colonial ottomans

A tad late to respond, but he didn't. Novgorod is a Merchant Republic, and Merchant Republics have SEVERE penalties for every state province over 20. Like loss of Republican tradition. He had to survive off of abuse of Merchant Republic's amazing trade tools.

Could you explain why you had so many light ships? Do you still need to protect trade even if you conquer the entire node?

Conquering the entire land area of the node will give you a lot of trade power but only somewhere like 70% potentially, you still usually need extra things like light ships/trade cities/trade depots, etc. Because even though you have a lot of trade power in that node, all of your neighbours still get some degree of trade power through various means, like their own light ships and global trade power.
