*So far I have 7 Euphorbias in my collection (and adding). Another wonderful collection I'm proud of are my Aloes. You can check them out in this video* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RmKNrx8Nle8.html
I have never introduced myself. Now I am an enthusiast from Tennessee where I have a large bedroom in my daughter’s home (30+ plants and holding). But was from the hi desert north of Palm Springs so I know the LA area and Phoenix. (Loved your LA shopping a while back). I so appreciate your succulents! I wish I had started my hobby sooner. I enjoy your wisdom and skills, even family!! Thank you!
What amazes me is that the Grafted Euphorbia can balance the weight of a huge top. Do you get nervous that it might tip over? I learnt something new today from your video: that a Poinsettia is a Euphorbia. So cool. I've had my Poinsettia since last Christmas and it has grown like a bush. I love it.
I do feel like it might, but the pot is real sturdy, so I think it will be ok. Congrats on having your Poinsettia from last year! That's not easy to do. Thanks for watching!
Finally , a plant you tuber from Phoenix, 🌤💕sometimes it’s hard for me to find a plant channel/review because other youtubers have different climates sometimes opposites to mine 😅 🪴
Your collection is so beautiful Carmen, I love them all, so hard to choose. I have several also, they are pretty easy care. You mention to watch watering in the winter, so true. Love your ghost🤩🤩Rosie is so sweet💕🐶
The crisata has some normal nranching coming on it. Looks good, but could cut off those normal branches if you dont want them to take over the crested aesthetics. Can keep the cresting that way I guess.
I treat mine as cacti. They are doing fine. I also use any kind of slow release fertilizer. No problem. I haven't lost any so far. Right now I don't see them in stock in stores near me. I never bought any online. Next spring I will chop them up a little to multiple them a little.
Thanks loved the video I have a pencil cactus inside and it's doing so well had it about three years now and it's so big love it your white ghost is just fabulous
Great collection Carmen! I'm all about unusual looking plants. I almost bought a firesticks yesterday but after researching I changed my mind because of the poisonous part. After hearing your explanation I'm not afraid of them now lol. Thanks as always for teaching me something new.
@@carmenwhitehead My mom and I were hooked when we saw the 1st one at her doctor's office 2 years ago. Yes! it took that long for me to find it. I bought it for us immediately. 🙂
Thank you Carmen. Great info - Love the ‘White Ghost’ - Here in NY zone 6B , our nites have been steady 35-45 degrees. Trying to clean up or rather put my yard to bed for the winter
Great video, Carmen. We all learn lots from you and appreciate you sharing your experiences and knowledge. If you're taking a tally - I vote for similar care videos on Philodendron and Aglaonemas (Lately, I'm having some problems with both species, leaf yellowing or browning issues. My Etta Rose and my White Dalmation suddenly have the browning and I can't tell if it's root rot or what). Anyhoo, I've just managed given the cold that's come on us quickly here in Indiana, to bring in my all my cacti and succulents, at least into our garage. This time of year is close inspection time so problems always seem to present themselves. My white ghost is doing pretty well I think, knock wood, it's still young so not nearly as mature as yours, but I'm totally panicked over my Pseudocactus Zig Zag which is two years old now and this summer grew over waist high on me! I noticed some burn marks on it, so obviously even here in less intense Midwestern summer sun, euphorbia can get burned outdoors, but a bigger worry now is some new brown marks I just noticed on it, towards the lower, thicker, stump like half of the Zig Zag. These brown marks are pretty prevalent and I did try scratching some of it off to see if it was scale. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it is (the brown doesn't come off with scratching like scale usually does. these marks are more like dents than bumps). Anyway, so here I am, still concerned, but utterly clueless as to what the problem is. I love that cactus too - it's done so well for me over the last two years - and is really quite beatiful - and I'll be just torn up if I lose it. 😢 I've sprayed it down with a Neem oil and mild soap spray, so with all my fingers and toes crossed, I'm hoping for the best...
It sounds like sun damage on your zig zag. It will recover if that's the case. They are very hardy. The browning on the Aglaonema leaves could be water related. I always use filtered water on my foliage plants and the browning tips went away. Something to think about. Thanks so much for your support and for visiting!
I love Euphorbias also, I'm trying to expand my collection also, great advice on the care, I learned a little trick to keep root rot and fungus in check, mix in some diatomaceous earth with their substrate before potting and that should help, hope you find this tidbit helpful, great video.
thank you for sharing such a beautiful family of plants. I've been nursing & trying to I.D. a euphorbia cutting I think. cut from a large bush outside in central Florida now in a pot on our patio.
Things happen, probably before you even got it. I know I put it in the soil you sent me and only dampened the soil a little. It could happen to anybody.
Hi! I think euphorbias are beautiful. I cant believe there are not considered cacti. Did I misunderstand something you said? The arrangement at your entrance is nice.
No, they are in the succulent family. They have thorns that are different than cactus spines and cactus do not secrete milky liquid like Euphorbias. Thanks for watching!
I didn't know until a couple of years ago. And they're so common in the holiday season, most people don't know. Thanks for visiting Lorraine, have a great weekend!
Love your videos! Nice collection of Euphorbias! I learned a lot. You mentioned in one of your videos that you like Aeoniums. I watch this channel called chopsticks and succulents. She did a very informative video I watched today. It was all about caring for Aeoniums and what not to do when they are dormant. I think you might enjoy it!
I really like Euphorbias and they were some of my first plants. I lost most of them a few years back in the Summer of the Floods. The only one that survived is my graft (similar to yours). I purchased a cutting from an E. loricata and I have high hopes, but my Home Depot has a absolute monster there for $19.97 and I'm pretty sure I'll buy that eventually. I really love the obesas; they're one of my favorite plants in the world and my heart was broken when the Floods caused their demise. Euphorbias just aren't offered for sale too much in my area of PA. More's the pity, but that's why we have Etsy, isn't it? I'm happy to see you speaking about succulents and eagerly awaiting more of this content as well as some shows about your cacti collection and more Rosie. P. S. - I couldn't resist those little scarecrows either. I have a couple of them in my ferns, pothos, and one in my Whitney snake plant. They're so cute.
Haha I’m glad you reminded people of the sap...now thinking my parents bought a plant that releases sap and it might just be some sort of euphorbia? 🤔 we don’t know what kind of plant it is...
If it's a milky white sap, it could very well be Euphorbia. The only other genus that does that are Rubber trees. But, those are very recognizable. Thanks for visiting Joanna!
Hi Carmen I love to see your videos. Can you tell me what is a good potting soul to buy ? I was using miracle potting soil an I got gnats in a couple of plants .so I threw all the bag away😍👋🙏
I have a Euphorbia Sunrise and it sure looks alot like your Zig Zag Pseudo cactus... Can't find a whole lot of information on it and definitely no RU-vid video's on it... Sure would like more info on it... I got it at a Plant Trade Meetup and the owner didn't know much about it as they got it from a trade as well.
@@carmenwhitehead unfortunately I went to that site and it came back with no results. Tyvm for trying to help me though. At least it's not dying in my care 😁🥰😍
Hi, I live in Gilbert, Arizona and I want to know if I can plant the African milk plant in the yard outside can can it take the heat when we go sometimes around 110° f Hi dogs!
Hi Mark, No I haven't separated that plant. But, it shouldn't be hard. All the pups have their own root system, so it's a matter of tugging them away from the mother plant. Good luck!
I grown mine in a grow tent with lights and I water mine every two weeks and they are in terracotta is this ok just got my white ghost can you tell me some of your secrets about it
EUPHORBIA LACTEA 'CRISTATA, I think I’m loosing it. The top crest, is turning a dark colour and just the other day I noticed the top part is soft. I was so happy it was growing beautifully and now it took a turn for the worst. What do you think could’ve happened.
If the soil is dry and kept dry for about a week after planting, it should be ok. You can always pull it out and see how it's doing. If it feels "mushy" that means rot is setting in. cut it back past the rot and let it dry. Good luck!
Hi Carmen! How are you? Dumb question for you. I have a few cacti. One I bought 2 years ago. First year it didn't grow much. I am assuming the roots were establishing in the pot. This spring/summer has shot up over a foot. The base is very thick and the middle and top are much thinner. Will the middle and top get as thick as the bottom? Please let me know what you think. Thanks! Gerry HPEteacher 😎 PS: I bought plastic garden fencing at Walmart on clearance and making trellises for my Hoyas. 😎
Hi Gerry! Usually when that happens it means that it's not getting enough sun. If you give it some more sun in a window, the trunk will start growing thicker. The thinner part won't grow thick though, it will stay that way. Hope this helps.
I'm in zone 9B and I just got a spiralis. I already have it out on my patio and it gets morning sunlight until about 1:00 pm with shade the rest of the day. I water when completely dry. I normally don't fertilize my cacti I just add some worm castings about every 3 months. Hope this helps.
@@carmenwhitehead Thank you.I dont have many cactus, but they are so beautiful and i have been keeping the ones i have alive and this one is so unique that i want it.Not until its at least may here though.Dont want to kill it in the cold in the mail.
I have 4 and I love my euphorbias! I’ve tried the grafted ones and I always lose them, not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’m in VT so wondering if it’s sun deficiency, even though I have lights for them.
The mounted crested white ghost I've kept out on my balcony, but under an umbrella to protect from hot AZ sun. Now, that it's cooler, I'm giving it more sun. So far, it's doing great.
