I think the wife represents who Maddie wants to become.

I literally see no sexual tension between them. I see an adult who relates with a teen and trying to give advice. She doesn’t think maddys a kid cause of how she carries herself so she can talk to Maddy like an equal. Y’all are weird!

This was such a great scene. Honestly I wish all teenagers had a safe, non-family adult they can talk freely with.

I think Samantha sees herself in Maddy when she was younger, that's really it. She also most definitely knows Maddy tries on her clothes, but she doesn't care, because again, she relates to what Maddy is doing/thinking back when she was younger.

I think it's more than just Maddy being hurting about her best friend Cassie hooking up with Nate her ex, it's more about your best friend hooking up with your abuser, after knowing just how horrible he treated you. That would break my heart.

According to the actress who played Samantha, she's supposed to just be a mentor figure for Maddy. And has no idea why she's gettung sexualized on screen, they're not supposed to have this tension and people are thinking its because of the directors.

I love the way they wrote samantha to be like an older and wiser version of both maddy *and* cassie.

I feel like Samantha just let’s Maddy wear her clothes even though she watches it through her hidden camera because if she wanted to report or fire her, she would’ve done it a long time ago. She just knows it and informs Maddy whenever she’s getting back home. Plus, she seems genuinely kind to her in their interactions. But we feel odd vibes about her and idk if it’s in a good or a bad way, but it definitely shows there’s something more. I can’t wait for her side of the story to unravel.

This is what solidified my opinion of how much Maddy genuinely cares and cared for Cassie because the last thing she asked was, "Did you and your friend make up?" Which leads me to believe that she might want her former friend back. But she knows that she can't trust Cassie anymore, so instead of wanting to hurt Cassie, Maddy might really want to know why Cassie did it and what was she thinking. :) 💯🤦‍♀️

Foreshadowing: Theo tells Maddy: He loves demons and when she sleeps they are going to steal her heart...Later when Maddy is getting ready for bed Nate assaults her. This season has been heavy on the foreshadowing.

It blows my mind how people can watch this scene and not realize that the mother is a stand in for Cassie. Maddy and Cassie’s fall out might not be the exact same but we are pretty much being told what’s gonna happen and the reasoning for why Cass fell for Nate (as if most of us didn’t know)

I love that Maddy has to think of the other side here. Cassie won't, and it'll help her recover better than Cassie ever will.

Im glad that now we know she never had any bad intentions with Maddy and actually served her as a role figure. Let’s hope it stays that way

I kinda hope Samantha isn't relevant to any wicked plot twists like some lunatics are thinking, it's just nice to have a character who's there for this kind of support

I think what makes me the most upset about this is that Cassie's go-to defense is "Nate was single; they weren't dating!!!" First of all, it doesn't matter. You just don't date your friend's ex. It's very disrespectful. Second, it would be one thing if Nate was just an ex, but Nate literally ABUSED Maddy. Do you know how much it would hurt if someone you trusted and loved and cared for so much started sleeping with and dating your ABUSER?

"Did you and your friend ever make up?" I don't know why but Maddy asking this question gives me the feeling that deep down she really wants to make up with Cassie. Or at least willing to hear her out(maybe beat her up first.). This is supported by when she asked Cassie to give her a reason why she did it with Nate and if she (Cassie) wanted to throw the friendship away. The balls is in Maddy"s court and has the upper hand on both the relationship with Nate and Cassie, so she gets to choose what she wants to do. This plus the ending of ep 7 I am wondering what will happen with Maddy and Cassie?

see that was the difference between cassie and maddy. maddy is strong enough bc most of the people in her life genuinely cares about her, even her parents (when her mom was depressed abt how nate abused her and actually wanted to take legal actions). while cassie only has her mom who is almost always drunk and watched her leave the house with nate.

samantha was such a nice person. she rly cares for maddy. she knew that maddie was crossing her boundaries by going through her personal property but instead of lashing out she actually sympathized with maddy and made sure maddy got to enjoy luxuries herself 😭💖

WHEN SAMANTHA SAID “he showed me the right amount of attention at the wrong time” JUST GOES TO SHOW: as shallow as cassie was for this, i don’t blame her. this show pictures addiction, abusive, trauma, AND self esteem. and cassie being as insecure as she can be, Nate KNEW THIS AND PREYED ON HER. because NATES CHARACTER IS A MASTER MANIPULATOR. and saw how Cassie’s, insecurities could benefit him, and not give a shit about the rest. and the audience that hates Cass is the perfect example of how real victims of manipulation are

she was depressed that everytime cassie comforted her it was an illusion and not that nate was stolen. the fact that maddie was sad over losing a friend more than an abusive man makes me hurt for her

I didn't even notice the sexual tension until the weirdos mentioned it. I think that Samantha is a mirror for Maddy, and a future image that Maddy can look forward to. She's at one of her lowest points, and Samantha can relate that not only has she lived the same way, but she grew past it.

samantha is literally maddy's support animal and a mother figure to her. i love their mother daughter relationship and how sweet and caring is samantha is to maddy. samantha is the person who maddy wants to be.

I think that the reason why they're showing us Samantha having done the same thing as Cassie is for us to realise that Cassie was coming from a place of heartbreak and low self esteem. This allowed her to be abused by Nate (although she isn't innocent regarding Maddie.)

I love that they made Samantha a likeable character & then had her reveal this about her past. It could’ve destroyed her likability & her relationship with Maddy but instead it just demonstrated that good people make mistakes & lose things like good relationships with good friends but regardless there’s still room for grace and growth. & that eventually everything will turn out okay & you can start over regardless of what you may regret doing in the past. So realistic and relatable

Honestly I got wierd vibes in the beginning but this episode I felt like it shifted and I see her as a mentor figure for Maddy I think she sees a lot of herself in Maddy and genuinely cares about her and wants to help her.

this scene made me look up minka’s age because of the twenties line, and i was not expecting her to be 41. i should’ve realised because friday night lights was ages ago but she was so youthful in the titans… mannn she’s so fine

i always found it heartbreaking that Maddie asked if she ever spoke to her friend again. it really shows just how much it's not about Nate but more so about her losing Cassie as a best friend, and was wondering if with time they could mend that fence.

I feel like Samantha makes her realise how Cassie truly feels. Like how she might actually relate to Samantha, you know and maybe she will be the key point to their reconciliation or as Samantha’s ex friend/best friend did, she will cut Cassie off of her life

When Maddy asked Samantha if her and her friend ever made up, it made me feel even worse for her. She was wondering if there could be a way back from something like this; it just puts into perspective how much consideration she had for Cassie and how losing her friendship was a lot more painful than having to get over Nate.

I rewatched this scene several times and noticed that, at 01:00, it not only shows the time of the cloak but also next to the time, there’s something like a small lense/a hidden camera, which is quite a commonplace to put a hidden camera for security purposes. Therefore confirms that Samantha knows Maddy was in her closet. 🙏

I really appreciate Samantha in this scene. She acknowledges what happened with Cassie and Nate is horrible to Maddy, and admits she did it herself. Doesn’t offer excuses for why she did it, but provides context of what caused her to make that decision and still takes responsibility for it being a stupid and horrible thing to do. She and her friend never spoke again and both moved on. I appreciate that she didn’t try to get Maddy to have empathy for Cassie or herself and acknowledges that she and her friend never spoke again because of her actions. She just looks back on her younger self and basically laughs almost in awe of how naive and messy she was. But now she’s moved on to a wonderful man, found her self worth and is living in a gorgeous house with her kid, and I assume her former friend did the same. At the end of the day the shitty guy was tossed to the side and wasn’t worth it, which in this case would apply to both Maddy and Cassie even if they never make up. While what Cassie did was stupid and horrible, I genuinely hope she moves on from this experience and finds her self worth, finds the love the deserves and grows as a person. And I hope Maddy can grow from this experience and not let a toxic and abusive high school relationship define her, while finding the love she deserves as well. At the end of the day, the guy just wasn’t worth it.

Maddie and Cassie's case happened to my friend but minus the sleeping thing. The boy has been gaslighting her, telling her that she is suffocating for asking his whereabouts cause that boy has not been talking to his mother who is abroad. She called it quits because it was tiring dealing with such an attitude. The other girl was her classmate and a friend who witnessed all the cries, drama, and how the guy tried to win back my friend. She saw it all. But a while after the breakup, they are seen in most places together. The boy and the other friend, yes. My friend got herself out of feeling bad about what they did but I'm still fuming mad. People would say, "It's not like they cheated." Yeah, just betrayed her, I guess. The fact that she choose to be with him despite her knowing what happened just invalidated my friend's suffering. It's not about them being together. It's about losing a friend because of this toxic guy.

I was like this in my early 20s I was MESSY always picked the wrong men was selfishly disgusting and so self centred I didn't care who I hurt just as long as I never let anyone hurt me more. I met a guy who was so far out of my type until I realised my type had brought me nothing but crap so I gave him a chance and 13 years later were still together I've healed ALOT of myself forgave myself and started to care about who I wanted to truly be for me and the people around me. I no longer recognise the person I was then, watching this was like a memory moment. so I guess what I'm saying is be yourself honestly & truly but don't put yourself as just 1 thing bcz your possibilities are endless amd nothing is ever set in stone. She’s a really good person and she only fights when she feels she’s been wronged (even during cassie’s flashback of maddy beating up kids in school, there was always a reason behind it and not just bullying). It’s obvious that samantha sees herself in maddy. but what i think she is trying to prove is that if she (a person that maddy liked and still likes even after finding out what she did when she was younger) is able to become a better person and grow as a person cassie is able to do the same. i think it’s foreshadowing character development for cassie not so much maddy but maddy’s RELATIONSHIP with cassie. it shows that (hopefully this happens bc i’m rooting for this friendship and both of these amazing fictional women) cassie will eventually realize that she was used . cassie obviously is having trouble figuring out who she is, coping with her thoughts, and trying to figure out why she is the way she is. i just think she is blinded by the attention nate gave her. he didn’t deserve either of them. i really hope their friendship and cassie in general, get redemption arcs.

What i love about Euphoria is that the clothes and makeup are a direct reflection of what the chravters are feeling and such. This scene it's seen so cleary because you can see on Maddy, she's more bold amd daring with her make up, her earrings are much more slim and her swimsuit/top is also a lot more bold. Basically telling me she in that psrt in her life where she's figured out who she is and she's reveling in it but at the same time is still unsure with herself because of how much she's put on and gone through. But for Samantha? More simple. Her top is a simple piece, her make-up is more muddled down but still bringing out her best features and her earrings though are more bold and bigger, showing that she's wiser and more mature with how she is because she doesn't need to be all bold and daring with her appearance to show that she's happy with herself. But when you look at the two of them from afar, they look the same. Same hoop earrings, same type of tops, same style of makeup (both are showing their best features). This shows to me that Samantha will be who maddy is in the future. Wiser, older, mature, and happier with herself. While Maddy is who Samantha was, bold, daring, wild and reckless. And to me, this scene is like the saying: "One day you're going to look back on this moment, and it's all going to feel so small." Maddy? She'll grow and learn from this. And Samantha? She has grown and she hs learned

Tbh, if I was in Samantha's shoes, I wouldve also set a camera without telling Maddy. I wouldve thought she was stealing. I mean, imagine coming home and your jewelry drawer is open. That shit doesn't look cheap, lol. However, once I knew that Maddy wasn't stealing, I would've taken it down. I would've been flattered that she appreciated my clothes and was just being a cute teenager, lol Idk. Maybe it's because I have little sisters that have done this before? I find it endearing ♡

I feel like maddy wants to help Cassie get out of it but Cassie is too scared bc she’s in too deep. We also have to remember that this is Nate shes with. She’s being manipulated right now and god knows if she’s being abused while living with Nate.
