These constant transparent updates are extremely valuable as documentation pieces, but also for investment purposes, winning a lot of people with your practices. Would also love to stick our nose in for the torture tests lol.

Thanks mate, much appreciated! Maybe we make it an open event. I'll discuss it with the team and let you all know.

Everything looks great so far, still think for the extra cost it would be worthwhile looking at a pivot pin and latch setup for connecting the upper and lower to make maintenance easier. Especially on a gas gun, just my two cents.

I hear you mate, if so this will be a gen 2 sort of thing, unlikely to happen in this version as it would need major redesign. But I take it onboard!

Hey Bastion, getting down to the pointy end now…. A suggestion, we cull pests and hunt predators as part of our business management from all manner of positions (different vehicles, natural props and prone, (getting to old to shoot off hand over 100y)). In the past 12 months we’ve integrated the use of a tripod into our predator hunting which works extremely well from fixed positions either day or night with thermal. A number of our rifles have chassis set up for an arca attached just forward of the mag well. The exception being a Taipan that’s been getting a bit of use lately which we had to modify and build a custom arca mount for. It would be an advantage to either integrate or future proof the addition of a short arca rail on the lower just forward of the mag well (this is usually close to the balance point on a MSR style upper and lower firearm). Whilst I acknowledge the added cost of machining in an arca spec’d rail I’d suggest a budget alternative maybe drilling and tapping 2 holes parallel to the lower in a standard arca mounting pattern could allow for a valuable customisable feature at the users discretion. Cheers, T

Either this, or M-Lok slots along the underside of the fore end to make arca or pic rail attachment easy.
@rvrski1
@rvrski1 3 месяца назад
@@maddan. I thought about that, it would depend on where the balance point is as it would best close to that. If I it was passable to mount an arca on the fore end of our Taipan it would be to far forward (we can’t anyway because of the shuttle). It’s near perfect just in front of the mag well.

Great comment mate. I am a tripod shooter myself, so I was keen to put M lok all along the bottom and in addition have an arca rail the entire length of the forend. It is feasible but to save weight and make it more comfortable for the hand, we decided against the arca, but left the M lok along the sides and bottom so that you can mount a rail where you want it. I haven't tested yet the exact point at which the arca would sit as the forend just arrived, but I will do it soon. Especially during the torture test, it would make it much more convenient to shoot 2000 rounds.

@@AustralianSportingAgencies Thanks for the reply mate, it will be interesting to see the outcome of mounting arca to the fore end. I suspect it may be ok on a 20” barrel but butt heavy on a 16” barrel without a few fore end counter weights. Our shooting style and preference is for the gun to be close to neural on the tripod, it makes it easier to have light settings on the y-x axis tripod head to pan and tilt smoothly when tracking targets. We’re really looking forward to this gun, thanks. T

Complete get your point. Gut feel tells me that the centre of gravity on the 16.5 inch barrel will be further back. Also strongly depends on the buttstock used. Some are a lot heavier than others. We will find out soon. 😅

Is there any update on when you'll start looking at Left Handed versions? As much as I enjoy turning myself into a pretzel with RH weapons, I actually want a dedicated LH one. The only other question I have is, is there a way to invest in the company such as stocks/shares or something? I think this venture is something worthwhile and I'd like to support it.

@AustralianSportingAgencies 3 месяца назад
Thanks mate. I have to admit I get that question a bit so clearly the industry is not providing a good service to lefties .....and I don't mean the political kind 😂 I can't speak for Rick who makes the ultimate design and availability decision but I will certainly encourage a full left hand design. That said, with an estimated 10% of sales in left hand, it is hard to justify the time it takes to design and source low volume parts rather than focusing on the next calibre. I will address of the shelf available options in the next video. In regards to investing, send me an email to action@australiansportingagencies.com I am not aware that we take investments now but I am also mindful that this may change soon, so please send me your details.

Thanks mate! I am not certain on the exact timing, but as soon as the .223 is in production, Jim and Rick will focus on the 9mm which is not a major redesign followed by the .308, which is a bit more work. At this point, very hard to say but I would be happy if we see the .308 early next year.

Are you saying the dealer is not going to charge a transfer fee? This is usually 100-150 under similar payment structures like for the wedgetail.
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 2 месяца назад
My understanding is that the dealer gets no margin when you buy a Wedgetail of Wedgetail directly. The dealer's only income would be the transfer fee which you have to pay to the dealer. When we sell our gun, there will be no transfer fee as the dealer makes his or her fair margin in the total price included. Hope that makes sense? Thanks for asking, great question.

The trigger weight is very heavy at 4lbs which I can live with on a bench, but in a practical use for pest control out of a vehicle etc. with multiple targets and shots in quick accurate succession this will prove challenging for me. It would be very useful for me to be able to either change trigger out to a lighter version or have it modified by a compertantent gunsmith to allow for my incompetence. Can you help? I also intend to fit a suppressor to the rifle and believe the end of the barrel will already be threaded. Will you be able to either supply the aforementioned item or suggest a compatible brand/model? It would seem that this rifle would make an ideal tool for primary producers in NSW with a thermal sight, if you can get it past the short sighted and self serving nanny state that we are forced to live with. cheers G

if there are plans for ambidextrous levers on the receiver would this be a interchangeable system where the user could choose which side they wish to run the lever on? Or due to the complexities of the system would this need to only be sectioned to just right or left side receiver sets? Because I am left eye dominant I prefer shooting left handed but giving the users the ability to switch whenever would be a really good quality to the system.
@AustralianSportingAgencies

Hey mate Cheers for update Looking forward to getting it into action Can I choose what thread on the barrel or will they all be the same ?
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 3 месяца назад
Hi mate, great question. Barrel thread will be the same 1/2x28 because otherwise we would have to increase the number of options by the number of threads and that gets very expensive very quickly. If you want a specific thread you would be best off to get a gunsmith to put it on. We may offer this service by the time we go live if it is something customers would like.

Is there a prize for a photo competition? Are we looking for the first Australian game to be taken with the new eureka stockade rifle ? The comp is really not that important to me. I’m just going dingo hunting in central Qld during the first two weeks of June and it would be nice to get some red dust on my new rifle

Will there be a case deflector ? If not is the receiver thick enough to drill and tap in order to add one?
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 2 месяца назад
Great question. The receiver is 4mm thick. At this point we have not planned for one, we will test in the next receiver and bolt version then check where the rounds land and how they eject, that will determine if we consider a deflector or not. Hope that makes sense?
@mickyabroad3818
@mickyabroad3818 2 месяца назад
Makes sense, I added a temporary one to the speedline in order to control the chaotic ejection. The driver doesn’t always appreciate hot brass. You could easily glue a block of plastic or alloy to see if viable. Cheers !

So talked to the team, there will be a video released over the weekend, but basically the charging handle sits exactly where the AR deflector is positioned when the bolt is open. Therefore the charging handle will be the deflector. I will show a video demonstrating it soon to.

Good comms. I think you are missing an opportunity to make the rifle highly modular by not utilising existing the barrel nut and handguard from the AR15 platform.
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 3 месяца назад
Hi mate, we thought long and hard about it, but as soon as we make it comparable with those platforms, they are super likely to be banned in some states. Also we believe that our system, though more complicated, should result greater longevity and accuracy.
@greatdane3343
@greatdane3343 3 месяца назад
@@AustralianSportingAgencies it's definitely not the right decision for getting my custom, but hopefully the right one for the big picture. Given that you are using the genuine AR-15 barrel extension, that would be a bigger technical approval hurdle than the barrel nut system itself. SCSA barrel extension has different dimensions from the AR-15, despite being very similar in size and design. Also, there are plenty of very accurate AR's around, maintaining a close (preferably mild interference) fit between the extension and the receiver is the key to that.
@AustralianSportingAgencies
@AustralianSportingAgencies 2 месяца назад
Agree. The barrels are not compatible with ARs, we made sure of that, probably similar reasoning as SCSA.

@AustralianSportingAgencies well getting to 2000 rounds is considered rigorous testing in australia apparently 🤣. A facebook page would do well i reckon, Hopefully being a manufacturer you'll be aloud to use 30 round mags for the testing

Yes we would as we have cat D licenses. Makes things a bit easier. 😂 I tested a gun to 2000 rounds the other week in Turkey and it took 2 whole days as you have to clean and check every 200 rounds to ensure you don't just break it because you didn't clean or overheated it.
