Running in the 90’s, Gas gas gas, and Deja vu we’re all my gateway drugs in freshman year, now I have a full-on playlist I always turn to when it comes to driving on the highway

When I was 15, I was obsessed with the genre. It got to the point I ended up with a 112 song playlist, this RU-vid username, and a fursona called "Fire-NRG" to sound like a Eurobeat song or alias name. My phase is definitely toning down, but the genre still holds a big place in my heart for how much it meant to me. And I'll still listen to a track every now and then.

Honestly, the thing that I love the most about Eurobeat is how scrappy the scene is. The most followed youtuber that talks specifically about it has little over 2000 views. The artists all have at least 5 different pseudonyms each and it's super hard to find out who actually made a certain song. There's maybe one or two of the most famous that have a WIkipedia page, and if you find pictures of them, they don't look like stars, they look like regular people. It's silly, it's cheesy, it started in Italy and found popularity in Japan to the point that ACTUAL street racers adopted it as their unofficial genre. And it's GREAT.

I really like eurobeat, too. It might be a 90s kid thing? Since you noted similar music in your childhood, and while I can’t think of any specific examples, I feel like eurobeat hits me on that same wavelength as nostalgic games and such. 3:45 I wouldn’t even say “I’m Scatman” is a guilty pleasure, I’d say that’s a legitimately good song. I still listen to Scatman John music since 2007. I also used to listen to Sandstorm a lot before the meme, though I’m less into that style these days. 5:09 I’ve had a weird relationship with Vocaloid music, I go in and out of listening to it. Mostly Gumi and Miku. And let’s be real, I think we all listen to anime OPs at least a little. I also enjoy chill music like bossa nova, that background track is vibin’! I caught that cheeky recommendation in the corner, I’ll take you up on that. While I have my favorites just like everyone (look at all these chiptunes on my smartphone), I’ve always had the ability to enjoy more diverse musical tastes than most people I know in general, so I appreciate this. Music is great. Thumbs up!

Initial D got me into Eurobeat. I still listen it and it's the best music when you play a racing game

I feel Eurobeat is so special. Ever since I started listening to it back in 2016. It's a type of music I've been searching for and once I heard it I've never stopped since. It's probably one of the big inspirations on me getting back into motorsports and it's much more awesome when your racing and blasting some sweet Eurobeat tunes! Hopefully, if I do Formula 4 again I'll for sure play some Eurobeat over the onboard!

Would like to add that Eurobeat is an evolution on the italo disco music style. (with many artists from that field transferring to Eurobeat back in the days) Also while very niche, the Eurobeat community which is out there is very much passionate about it. If you want to meet such a community I would like to recommend the Eurobeat Prime site/discord.

As much as I love Initial D for bringing lots of people (including me) into the genre, most just listen to those in the anime without really venturing out into deeper waters, e.g. Super Eurobeat, Maharaja Night Hi-NRG Revolution, Euromach, Touhou Eurobeat, Original Eurobeat, etc. That's why I don't really have many Eurobeat friends. And no, I don't consider Turbo Eurobeat, even though I do like some of his remixes.

Im a huge fan or Happy Hardcore, UK Hardcore and Drum and Bass. High BPM, cheesy lyrics and dance-ibility is all i need. Its really popular here in Seattle and the raves are fantastic (pre-covid). Dj Ravine and Dj Cotts and Dj S3rl come all the way from Australia to play here!

Eurobeat, the one genre that never ceases to amaze

As a fellow Eurobeat enjoyer, who also grew up with cheesy Eurodance songs and joined RU-vid around the time Scatman John and Barbie Girl were popular memes, I'm finally feeling vindicated!

My musical taste trajectory starts at spanish music (as I'm from Spain), then at high school I started to hear electronic music, Nightcore mostly (and yeah, Nightcore can be the same music at faster pace, but some remixes add other tunes over that match the speed, making them different from the original but not something totally unknown). At the end of high school, I got in Vocaloid music (what helped me to extend my vocabulary at english, because I was bad, really bad at english, but the spannish comunity had great people who would translate over english). Then, at my Bachealor degree I found Touhou what introduced me into eurobeat, but never heard about Initial D until the memes days, so I'm greatful for the memes as they given me much joy to hear good music. I don't like all Eurobeat, but pretty much anything done by T.Stebbins and the Initial D popular songs are my thing. As can be seen, I'm not someone that likes music by their meaning, I just like the way things sound. The problem about music is that is something too personal. My parents for example, they don't like Eurobeat just because it's not what they heard when they were young, and I think that makes a big part of what music is. It is not just about the beat and the music itself, is when and where do you listen it, making the enviroment and what is around you or whatever you are doing while listening a great part of music. Maybe for some it's too late, or even maybe it's just a niche thing that we can't see why is not more popular. I don't know, but if in any moment I have the opportunity of putting the music of my people, I'll try.

I wasn't expecting a sudden bossanova plug in (greetings from Brazil btw). That aside, that thing about circling back to music you liked when younger is something that's happening to me. I loved melodic metal when I was younger (15 years ago more or less) and over time I came to think it was a bit "cringy" and felt a bit ashamed of it. Recently, I started to hear it again and I really love it! Hearing about mythical quests, evil lords, dragons and such gives me such joy. It's really odd when a Rhapsody of Fire music ends and then starts playing Deja Vu or some other kind of more upbeat music I've come to love in more recent years. It's a funny thing when you think about it in retrospective isn't it? Anyway, glad to see you again Yuunarii.

As someone who had a highway commute to and from school for 2 of 4 years and has worked the past 3 as a food delivery contractor, Eurobeat naturally became my favorite genre of music. The energy it gives when behind the wheel is incredible. I actually have a whole side of a cassette dedicated to Touhou eurobeat!

Damn I absolutely loved this entire video and especially the relation to EuroDance! I always tell people that it's in a way quite similar to Eurobeat and I thought I was the only person who said that, SO GLAD I'M NOT ALONE! Just a little sad how you feel like the lyrics are cheesy when they're my favourite part.. maybe you should try listening to a couple of songs such as Night of Fire by Niko and Take Me to The Top by D Essex.. I love the lyrics of all the songs I listen to though so it's really hard to pick :p I've been listening to Eurobeat devoutly for nearly 3 years now so I think my taste has finally settles down too and I'm glad it landed here :D Great video!

Regarding the vid, eurobeat may seem repetitive and cheesy at first but once someone goes REALLY deep into the rabbit hole there is some absolutely amazing and original stuff out there. It's just hard to find UwU If i had to point into some really original euro concepts i would point towards people like NMK, BVG, ARM, DjTimotei, and hell, even Odyssey if one strolls enough into TEB. I personally think the fact that this genre is unrecognised only adds to it. If it grows too much it will loose its charm.

Yuunarii literally has worst taste in music for 7 minutes! Very cool! Kids these days don't appreciate the real music these days. Love my Tibetan tantric sounds. That's the real stuff!

2:15 I'm going to be 30 in exactly 2 weeks, and I've been listening to EDM, and Metal since I was 7 or 8 years old. I didn't really "discover" Eurobeat until around 2012-2013, when I got my driver's license, and my first car, which was a 1991 Mazda RX7 convertible. I still miss that car. Got my first tattoo because of that car. My favorite eurobeat songs, include but aren't limited too, Adrenaline, Spitfire, Streets of Fire, Manifold Love, Futureland, The Top, Breaking Out, and several others i wish I could remember off the top of mely head... I have an entire playlist actually, through RU-vid Music (public playlist) of all my favorites out of the Eurobeat genre.
