Definitely Super Hornet is a bargain in costs alone not to mention versatility and weapon options and integration.

Flying against S400 and it's layered defence would be problematic . @@naufalendram8063 SAAB have excellent network and radar knowledge, the Giraffe radar system is world class and the USN use that system. Now network Giraffe with Gripen, who constantly update changing scenarios, and good luck flying out of contested airspace. Gripen isn't perfect but it does most things well and is cheaper to buy and fly. 36 Rafales v 60 Gripens . I wouldn't want to go 2 v 1 with one silent and the other hanging back able to network and armed with Meteor and IRIS T which can outmanoeuvre MICA IR.

@@VegetaUltraEgoo Gripen has been used in Libyan conflict for surveillance missions. EF and Rafale have both been used for Ground Attack but neither has been tested in AA conflicts yet. Red Flag obviously points to capable aircraft. Just saying. The Gripen E /F39 is a great buy for Brazil as full technology transfer and the possibility to produce at Embraer in the future makes it a winner.

The RAF retirement of Tornado came after the EF Typhoon was upgraded to perform more strike missions. It is able to use Stormshadow/Scalp, laser guided bombs or Brimstone etc and newer missiles that MBDA and UK & France are jointly developing like CVS401 Perseus. The major advantage of Rafale is it's AESA radar is smarter and faster than EFT. But EFT are now able to use AESA and Kuwait have selected that option Germany and Spain will fit a new AESA then finally UK & Italy will fit a more advanced EW system . The EFT has a larger nose to fit a bigger system than Rafale which has 838 TR so is limited by its size. Definitely Rafale has chosen the right direction and fitted it's AESA radar early and EFT was late to the party. I agree with the ' reliant on other platforms ' that historicaly you pointed out but F35 is way more capable being both stealthy and having EW capabilities to blind opposition. When it comes to prices etc F35A now seems to cost about $170m with all usual extras ( Canada and Finland ) , Gripen E about $115 ( Brazil ). So the market is competitive! All are excellent options and technology changes constantly. I personally think Gripen with its roadside ability would be perfect for Ukraine and so every system has its strengths. Originally it was the same project but because difference on the need, the project splitted in two different projects rafale from Dassault (France) typhoon from Airbus defence (I'm, Germany, Spain,...) So the 2 planes started at the same times BUT rafale succeed in making fly the rafale sooner than the typhoon

It is a mac 2+ fighter and it has broken the speed record of the Jas system it should therefore have a top speed at mac 2,3+. This does little to increase its capacity. As for vector trust it ads weight that means less range. As it has a 1500 km combat radius. This means it can pass the Baltic sea or and operate over the Baltic states. It can from Sweden reach the border between Russia and Finland from Sweden. If we shorten the combat radius the chanse to help their neighbours decreases for Sweeden. With the strength it has it can supercruise and that is a very important capacity. It gives its missile the advantage of not having to pass the sound barrier, increasing the missile range with more than 10%. One can increase the sice by adding an engine at the price of creating a larger RCS. The Jas 39 E has a low RCS today especialy in A2A configuration. However if increasing it you need to increase the E warfare suits out effect, this would force it to use some of the fighters as Growlers. This can be done by adding a pod today. But it is better if every fighter can hide itself without using any of them to have to specialise themself for a nncombative task. Small nations needs every fighters to attack the enemy in air, land or on water. There will never be a perfect fighter but the Jas 39 E is as it is today as steahlt as can be it is not as steahlt as a F35 but using its E warfare suite it is very close. That is enough because it means that the IRST system will detect it before a radar. Thus it will have a 50 50 chanse against an F35 and very good ods at a SU 35. The balance is what makes the Jas 39 E a formidble opponent to even the most advanced gen 4 or 5 fighter. When gen 6 arives it will still be useful. It has protection against laser rayes but not enough to pick a fight with a gen 6 fighter on a clear day.

@@txaixama190 you are using old data from Gripen C early models, new Gripen E will cost much more to maintain because of all the additional software and hardware, in the end it will be similar to other gen 4+ maintenace costs. The real price will be known once Gripen E is actually in service which it is not. To give you similar example, early F16C maintenance cost was $8k per hour, latest F16 Viper with Aesa etc.. costs $20k per hour This is normal since when you modernize and add new capability to a plane, you inevitably increase complexity of maintenance. A mini in the 60s cost a lot less for yearly service than a 2020 Mini, because many more things have been added since early models.

Among the sensor improvements in the F4 standard, the RBE2 AESA is scheduled to receive enhancements to its air-to-ground mode. Specifically, the RBE2 AESA will receive a GMTI mode.There are a lot differences in both fighters one major i found is the carry load difference.

@Jörgen Persson I believe the longer range AESA radar of the Rafale along with a heavier load of armanents will give it an edge of hit and go capabilities because from a lot of articles i have read all over the years, what makes the Rafale unique is the capability to fire missile at each target without the target spotting it on their radars at long range , then turn back make greater distance and strike another missile in case it doesnt confirm hit . With the Rafale you dont have to enter in close air combat. This has been analysed by many airforces who currently operate the Rafale which are considered a strategical purchase as of the recent purrchase of 24 Rafale by the Hellenic Air Force to dismantle the Turkish Air Force. Another example is India the third superpower right now who has been operating Rafale 10 years now and is ready to make a new purchase.

If you can launch a missile from 4000m above your target gravity will always give it an advantage in range also the speed the missiles come off the rails does the same. Nothing has or ever will change that proposition so a Meteor missile fired at height and a speed of say Mach 1.5 will travel around 30% further. Of course you have to have the ability to detect the target but the premise still remains.

@@NATObait kinetics yes, speed no, Mach 1.6 is the maximum speed an airframe will reach 99% of his lifespan, supercruise and terrain following/mapping is more useful nowadays. From the Rafale design Mach 2 wasn't requested because considered not useful, they focused more into RCS reduction, engine efficiency or SPECTRA.

@@charlesviii3456 Mach 1.5 is the Supercruise speed of Eurofighter & F22 is Mach 1.8 so this is the sort of speed that is possible in BVR . The Rafale does not have variable intakes so airflow is restricted at height hence the service ceiling is lower . Rafale has reasonable RCS like EFT but only when clean ( not very effective) and with weapons etc hanging off it then it has a bigger RCS . At least EFT has missiles that semi recess so it's actual RCS remains lower. That is one difference between 4th & 5th generation. Electronic suppression systems like SPECTRA, Pretorian or SAAB'S Arexis are for disguise and are all Secret but obviously having a stealthy shape with no parasitic drag is better. That is why 6th generation is the choice for Europe. Yes Rafale is a better ground attack platform than its Canard Cousins but it's engines are less powerful so intercept mode is not it's best feature. So as I said in wartime you use every tool available including firing first from above and allowing the Laws of Physics to help out. Any pilot flying above 50000ft without a space suit would be risking their own lives so Airforce best practices discourage it and flying around with full afterburner is discouraged for fuel costs and engine life ..... but that is in peace time. German Eurofighter have been flown at Mach 2.35 but I don't know in what configuration. Hence EFT is considered a better interceptor but a lousy carrier aircraft.

France was suggesting about multirole design, but Britain focus was to counter SU-30 flanker, during this process Britain stick to air superiority to match with flanker. This was contradicting France requirement. France came out of the deal and OMNIROLE jet design was started, which is nothing but fabulous and wonderful multirole jet RAFALE. Indian air force announces MMRCA(Medium multirole combat aircraft) of more than 110 jets requirement. During RFI phase, [F-21, F-16, F-15E, SU-35S, MIG-35, Rafale, Typhoon, Grippen E] participated in this deal. IAF choose Rafale over Typhoon because, Typhoon was designed for air superiority and heavy jet. IAF already have air superiority jet SU-30MKI. Rafale is an OMNIROLE jet and got selected. I understand your feeling, you are simply jealous with Rafale, such a deadly jet from France.

But here is a problem with Typhoon, Typhoon is not completely build in UK, a deal has to be made with other countries like Germany, Italy for spare parts. Here Italy can not be trusted due to it's strong Chinese relations. IAF bought 36 Rafale F3 variant, In 2021 Dassault Aviation has come up with Rafale-F4 variant with upgraded Radar and electronic warfare. IAF had plan to procure two variants of Rafale, due to this reason in the initial order requested for 36 Rafale jets. Now IAF reviewing options against F-15EX(new upgraded variant from Boeing), SU-57 and Rafale-F4 variant. Even my personal choice is here, Rafale-F4 variant. Dassault is charging 80 million dollars per jet, including weapon package it's exceeding 110 million dollars per jet. Apparently it turned out more expensive than F-35. Even Typhoon was offered with less price than Rafale. Ultimately major decision was from IAF. Even Rafale comes with good weapon package Scalp Cruise missile, Hammer, [MICA, Meteor for BVR] Indian navy don't need any anti shipping missile, India has Brahmos missile, which is already integrated with SU-30MKI, India HAL is communicating with Dassault for integrating Brahmos with Rafale. How, f 22 is very strong it can smash rafale in one missile launch but rafale is also strong like it.

You are right when it comes to dogfights the f22 is just as good as the Rafale but the F 22 is 10 times stealthier than the Rafael so it will fire its missile first and shoot down the Rafael The F 22 also has a better radar then the dassult Rafael.

Is carrier capable 4. Can drop nuclear ( though France will not share it's secrets on this ). You sort it out 5. Good upgrades for future proofing. 6. @@NATObait As said above, Rafale is the best all-rounder and globally the best and complete machine in all domains covered by a fighter jet. It's difficult to do better, than something that was thought, R&D, and built to perform on everything at the best level. Dassault aviation has made the only true and first omniroles fighter available. USA tried to do the same with the f35, and we all know what kind of industrial failure it became. Yes the gripen is cheaper on its C/D versions, but according to experts, the E/F versions are getting more expensive and with higher maintenance, and flying costs. So the gap isn't that much big. Your pointing out the better networking in favor of the gripen. I think you're talking about the new gripen E if I don't mistake. gripen E just entered in production, is not yet in service or really operationnal yet. I mean not combat ready yet. So telling it get better networking than the Rafale, is kinda subjective and pretentious, specially when the new gripen has yet given any proofs and feedbacks experiences on it. Even more, if I remember well, the Rafale was the first aircraft to use such a networking capability. Rafale already long time had and used a collaborative combat platform, allowing Rafale to exchange and perform data fusions between each other and more.

@Drew Peacock S400 is a tough nut to crack and it won't sit there unguarded in fact it is part of a mobile layer of defence systems and decoys. F35 is designed to classify and avoid or jam them, attacking the most valuable.target. While F35 prosecutes it's mission it passes information back to a tactical center for analysing. The pilot only gets to see the relevant information for the mission and it's safety ( probably only 10% is viewed to stop the pilot getting swamped ). Remember loyal wingman is testing now and can expand options and scenarios in the future. So if you had to attack a S500/400 type target of opportunity then F35 would be the choice delivery package.

@@strikebr experienced ground staff have swapped an engine in less than 1 hour ! The impressive part is being capable of landing on a road and have an experienced technician and 4 recruits refuel and rearm the Gripen in 10 minutes. Now wouldn't that suit Ukraine!!!

@@NATObait every fighters are able to land on a road, as long the said road is long enough, dimensions are fitting the said plane and ground is strong enough. Rafale is able to land and take off (400 and 450m @full load) as short as the Gripen, but the problem is that you need a lot of stuff and technicians on the ground to take off, Sweden developed this doctrine because it fits their situation, but every country can do as well if they need, India started in 2021 to experiment that, they choose a road portion of 3200m to install facilities all along to use that road when needed for Rafale and SU30. People are very often wrongly giving particularities to Gripen.

Even the famous Peter Collins of the RAF and Red arrows pilot, said he would choose the Rafale over anything else. He also said it was the best fighter aircraft he ever flown and if he had to go to war anywhere and anytime, he would do it with the Rafale.

@@aviationaerospacechannel5987 I looked up his comments and he said "Rafale would eat Typhoon below 10000ft." This goes along with the design of Rafale having a 52° sweep compared with EF 48° wing. Also Rafale has fixed intakes best suited to low/medium heights EF has variable intakes suited to medium/high heights. The Rafale is Omniroll but because Tornado was in service the air to ground missions could be performed by them, hence Germany Italy Spain and UK had less interest in Omni platforms. No interest was made to build a carrier aircraft version as France wanted. This is why EF was less versitile and biased towards interception. With F35 being so capable in air to ground I can't see RAF spending much time and effort trying to transform EF in that direction . Germany is buying Super Hornet Growler version to perform low level SEAD and it fulfills nuclear ambitious. And so in conclusion Rafale beats the others as a versatile package but is not better than them in their specialist areas. Gripen E is way closer to Rafale and at a lower price , in the swing roll package

The EF Typhoon can use AMRAAM but Meteor is the choice for the same BVR tasks. Rafale and Gripen both use Meteor. EF would certainly climb higher and use inertia to gain Meteor the maximum speed/range advantage possible.

The Eurofighter + Rafale are in production and have seen combat. The Gripe "E" has not and won't be until 2023. Having said that the Gripen "in theory" has a huge upside in terms of overall cost + all-weather performance

And there is also the one in Brazil, which is much more technological than the one in the video, has up to two places and uses the meteor missile.
