Rafale is better than Eurofighter Typhoon ? Comparison video. 

In 1976 France built the Mirage 4000: delta wing, 2 jet engines, canards just above the air intakes. Its design was the ancestor of both Rafale & Eurofighter. 1st flight on March 9, 1979, way before the Eurofighter (march 1994). France pulled out of the Eurofighter project when other involved countries said they didn't need a carrier-capable fighter. For French Navy it was non negotiable because they operated then 2 CATOBAR aircraft carriers. So France made the Rafale on its own, but with a modified design (reinforced fuselage, air intakes, canard position, landing gear, tailhook...). Rafale is certified for operating on US Navy aircraft carriers since 2007.

French do not make many different weapons but whatever they make are top class, there is just no comparison with any other country in its classes, be it American, German or Russian

Let's say that the best is the one that sells the most to countries that did not build the plane and if foreign customers buy more Rafale than EF Typhoon it is surely for a good reason.

Nice video, but you make one mistake, the rafale has longer ferry range then the typhoon.

Typhoon has more agility. Are you sure ? This is not the impression I have when I watch air shows.

Typhoon is clearly designed focused on air interception/superiority. Its main advantage are its engines which are clearly more powerful than those of the Rafale - but this comes at a cost both in price and in maintenance. The smaller size of the Rafale (possibly due to the need to be carrier-compatible) has also player a role. Both aircrafts are weak regarding long term development compared to US counterparts which is reasonable since volumes of european fighters are traditionally much smaller. Although the sales of an aircfraft do not necessarily represent which one is better, the Rafale seems to have gained momentum towards the Typhoon, mainly due to its relatively lower price and maintenance costs and also due to its greater versatility. The main advantage of Rafale is that it is based in a consistent uniform philosophy since it was a one-country design with very focused specs whereas the Typhoon had to address multiple and not always compatible specs. Overall I would consider Typhoon a 'better' fighter on a spec-by-spec comparison but Rafale is clearly a better all-rounder (and most probably the best all-rounder worldwide as is essentially the only fighter designed from the beginning on that basis). Rafale is good in every aspect - not very powerful engines but powerful enough, decent radar, very good electronic warfare suite (very clever french move to focus on that), a decently stealthy design although not as advanced as the F-35 (but stealth comes at a considerable cost in other aspects...), great reliability (France does not have the luxury of a big fleet so losses are not acceptable...) and very good air-to-air missiles to compensate on the interception role. And as a whole package it comes at a price that can be justified, whereas Typhoon may not be so... . I believe that if Rafale gets more powerful powerplants (+10%, not more) and an upgraded radar (not that current AESA is bad but an upgrade will be needed to keep it competitive - although some 'nose widening' may also be considered for increased radar size - size does matter!) its capabilities will increase overall and this is one other of its benefits - you do not need to do that much to improve the original design.
