From Romania. AUR are at the core just a bunch of populists that would love to join any group that would have them. But their campaign made so much noise both against Hungarian expansionism, but also EU membership, that they would lose too much face if they join any group that either has FIDEZ as a member or supports stronger European integration. Add to that the fact that AUR has a tendency to lose people that have won seats in the national parliament, just for those people to join other parties or become independents, and it's a real wild card.

I am also Polish and Konfederacja voter, and can confirm this. The Konfederacja campaign focused on PiS's impotence and docility towards key EU figures. The issue with AFD, though, is that they have border revisionist tendencies, something similar to Fidesz and that Romanian party. However, at least one of Konfederacja's new MEPs has contacts within AFD, and it would be nice if they could influence them somehow.

@@Muaddibize Small correction: they have a total of 6 seats (only 5 are shown in the video because one member is already part of the ECR) And keeping people in the party is kind of a problem for all opposition in Romania, take for example USR who got 8 seats in 2019 but lost most of them after REPER broke off from the party. The mentality of older generations, growing up in a socialist country for example taught them to be less expressive politicaly. We dont have a democratic culture like in europe and the TV media is almost fully in the hands of FIDESZ related "bussinesman". They also blatantly cheat just to give you a few examples: Bringing in 800 venezulien immigrants in to a district where they have smaller chances of winning, giving them instructions on their phones who to vote for (had been proven, i am sadly not making it up). They also "help" people in rural areas to vote by taking them with buses to vote (interpret it as you want, technicaly not forcing them but they never forget to tell them who to vote for).

The AUR has far right ideas about society: Anti-immigration, pseudo-Christianity and anti-feminism similar to AfD. The AUR is probably somewhere in between.

Meloni has to choose between AUR and Fidesz. It’s not just a matter of seats, Orban is on the European Council and is gonna be President of the Council of Europe for the next 6 months, but on the other hand if the deal with Orban goes through some ECR parties are gonna defect to EPP, such as ODS (that if I remember correctly is in government) or N-VA (that could be the leading party of the next one). AUR seems the safer but less rewarding option here.

Not exactly. Every party is different. I think that AfD could be called far right. But at the same time Konfederacja definitely isn't far right, "right-wing" at most or even (similar as you've written) "anti-establishment central-right". Today Konfederacja de facto is much more christian democratic party than parties declaring themselves as "christian democratic" (such as German CDU or Polish KO which have become rather social democratic).

The leader for the 5Star Movement anticipated a "surprise" before the election. Possible hinting at the formation of a Russian Boot Licking Brigade in the EU Parliament.

Also the czech communist party KSČM gained 2 seats and their leader openly said that they are thinking about forming a new fraction because the european Left is too green.

I would say that Konfederacja will likely join the ID but without Braun since he's the most radical. Also there is a reason why ECR and ID are not together, the only thing that unites them is migration issue and giving more power to the member states but even then they have different vision of how much the EU should lose influence. It's like unifying PiS (ECR) and Konfederacja into a single party

It need to be mentioned that Konfederacja was the most active group in the Polish parliament (and still is) that called for counteracting the hybrid war waged by Putin and Lukashenko on Poland's eastern border. At the same time, before the last elections to the Polish Parliament, parties such as KO (EPP) and Lewica (S&D) cynically supported the hybrid war against Poland as part of their political game against the then ruling party PiS.

Few years ago, 5 Stars were very euroskeptic, they event tried to do a referendum of the euro money but they failed since in Italy it is illegal to do it for international treaties. Because of this, at the time, they tried to form a group with Farage but the proposal failed. Then, years later, tried to join ALDE but Verhofstadt declined the offer because of their euroskeptic past, hence they staied independent. In Italy, 5S movement doesn't want to be associated neither with the Left or the Right, they define themselves "reformist", as their leader Conte said during an interview so, I think that improbable, but not impossible, that they are going to join any of the current groups. I confirm what @mapache69 said, but I would not define them friend, the are not even formally allied. They just have convenience on working toghether, since they're the two biggest opposition parties, even if these two often argue.

It's quite simple. Center-Right generally are pro-EU conservatives, Right-Wing are soft Euroskeptics and moderately nationalistic, and Far-Right are full-blown nationalist authoritarians (often racist too).

Polish elites are fighting Christianity in offices and calling for a secular state, and at the same time they see no problem with displaying Judaism in the Polish parliament. The matter of foreign influences are also involved, as the Israeli ambassador admitted in an interview that Hanukkah in the Polish parliament was related to Israel. The leadership od Konfederacja directly stated that they don't support Grzegorz Braun's methods and criticized this action. But many people support the thesis that if the state is to be secular, it should be secular to everyone equally.

Nope. ECR is right-wing conservative and Euroskeptic, but overall pro-Atlanticist/Ukraine and anti-Russia. Fidesz is solidly aligned with I&D politically, but Orban likes to think he's a big fish and won't join a group unless he's seen as its leader. Really depends on his relationship with Le Pen tbh.

Some views of them, if you read them, are more than just conservative, and some even talk for reunification with not only Moldova, but with parts of Ukraine which used to be in Romania's border in the Middle War period. They're most likely join the ID or stay non-affiliated for now.

And Konfederacja rather isn't anti-EU - more "EU-reformist" (because as economical liberals they see advantages of a common European market, but they oppose EU bureaucracy and abuse of power by European Comission). At the same time AfD has territorial claims against Poland - and that's why Konfederacja won't be keen to any cooperation with it.

In Confederation only the smallest and most radical branch led by Braun has good contacts with AFD. Polish nationalists lead by Bosak and libertarians led by Mentzen don't like AFD for revisionist views towards Polish border and connection to neo-n*zi movements.

It's not about the goals. I think that everyone in Konfederacja agrees that Poland has to support Ukraine and the main goal is not to let Russia win. But they criticise chaotic and not well designed support of Polish government for Ukrainian economy and Ukrainian refugees in Poland. As the effect - such a politics is harmful to Polish entrepreneurs and farmers. In some fields Ukrainian refugees have more rights than Polish citizens and (often Ukrainians abuse it) - what also is criticized. It's ok to help Ukrainians, but this help should be sustainable and well designed. But Polish government crated fields where many Poles feel like citizens of the second category. That's what is a matter of Konfederacja's crticism.

well as hungarian maybe they can agree with each other its not the first time an anti hungarian party became friends with hungary look at robert fico he wanted to invade hungary 10 years ago and kick out hungarians from slovakia now he is the biggest friend of orban and don't hate hungary so much now but maybe not who knows after all romania is the bastion of the hungary hater club
