Wow, this is a hidden gem, it is different, and I am going to say although without much competition best UK song since 2000, her talent as a singer is incontestable here.
I met her in August in Sheffield she was singing at a pub called the Barrel and she was really good she sung some cilia black songs, Gina G Just a little bit and this
Very undervalued and ignored song. This performance has its flaws (the styling and the rap), but Lindsay sang wonderfully, and the tune was very contemporary and catchy.
Yes her wardrobe was a huge mistake, and I suppose they thought they had to fill the stage up somehow, but yet another mistake. Just look at her leather outfit here to compare what might have been. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dFm47vO0hDY.html
I still love this song but for some reason the BBC didn't invest the £10 needed for Make up. she looked like a vampire she was that pale. this deserved top 10.
Some acts have been known to buy their own outfits, when the broadcaster's styling was deemed too bad. Such a pity, because Ms Dracass delivered a really fine performance.
I agree! The styling is poor too - she looks like she’s taking part in a year 6 talent contest rather than Eurovision. I get that she’s 16 here and it suited the ‘era’, however they could have jazzed her up a little 🤷🏻♀️ shame really because this is such a strong performance and shouldn’t rely on styling
It’s a shame she went a little pitchy because this is such a strong song and she has such a powerful song. One of my all time favourites that I still listen to now in 2021
She did desrve a much higher place. The song introduced some new elements which I think moved the contest along, much like Paul Oskar. Solid performance....and lets face it - she was so young and yet kept it all together....
This song is an absolute banger! Shame about the rap, styling and staging. Lindsay looked like she's been out on an all day drinking session and this her attempt on her mates karaoke machine at 2.34am :(
This songs shoes that Euphoria by Loreen wasn't anything groundbreaking. Loreen just had a better concept and package and was coming from a hyped country. Other than that Lindsay's song with a new remix and no rappers would be as nice as Euphoria!
hellenic81 Taking notes here: 1. use better concept 2. better package 3. new remix 4. no rappers => Groundbreaking Success! Do you really think that country matters, I don't
You've got a point, "Euphoria" was nothing groundbreaking in terms of sound, and it annoyed me how many people acted like it was. Loreen, on the other hand, took that sound and really made something of it.
I feel she should have worn the outfit at the end of the music video that would have gone down better in this performance but hey this is one of the better songs form the UK of which I'm from so I guess I have bias 👍
I'm not a Eurovision buff but this was actually a really good tune!! Cant believe it didn't win!! She needed a stylist tho...she doesn't look polished enough
She looked like she was singing in a year 6 talent show 🤷🏻♀️ but then I suppose that suited the era and she was only 16. I agree they could have jazzed her up a bit
I love this song. And loved it at the time. I really thought she could have won. As per usual the BBC couldn't have cared less and spent all of £2.50 on the staging. Hitting the note at the end like she does is something I'll always remember.
I think the bad days for UK began with Jemini. This is actually a good song, would surely have done better if just she hadn't sung off tune that much. I mean both 1999, 2001 and 2002 were great songs. 2000 was simply awful, though.
Even in 2023 22 years on this song was clearly ahead of its time, the tune, beat and vocals all come together really well. Only drawback was the staging, the pound land chavvy outfits and awful/unnecessary rap bridge. But its one of my fav UK entries over the past 20 or so years. Sadly it was ignored and overseen by the dark periods of the balkan bloc voting period between 2000-2008 where sadly we were knocked to one side by the neighbouring televoting!
+The Showster Nah, the song just wasn't good enough to stand out. It didn't come last either, more like mid-table. Also, the UK entered a good song the year after this and finished 3rd, so don't be so quick to blame politics.
Nothing had happened at this point of the year in the middle east. Eurovision was in May that year and the middle east conflict started over a year later because of 9/11 which had happened in September.
The singing was BAD!!! The music was BAD!!! The choreography was BAD!!! The Preformence was BAD!!! The worst song that beautiful spring evening in Copenhagen, the capital of the beautiful country, Denmark.
I think... You don´t have a truth. I think there was more worse performances and songs than this. And according by me, there was to many songs with bad melody what I can hear in Eurovision.
