nicknameidono he was warning him because he was about to fall!! And afterwards he touched him and thanked him. Stop looking for bad at places that there isn’t.
So so happy with Italy.. 3rd with the televote! it's a shame the juries didn't appreciate it! looking forward to your analysis of the results! great job as always..
Winning is not that important in my opinion.... we spread our message and it resonated with our fellow Europeans.... that's what really counts! Thank you Europe
Italian journalist backward is so me 😂 " Chi ci aveva sperato!" (Nobody thought that would be possible!) So happy that our song has been so appreciated by people ❤🇮🇹 As for the jury... Disappointed but not surprised at all
Drupy 91 thans for translating..i was wondering what was said lol. Nobody is the jury here. it gutted me when they were so low after jury votes.that hug in the end..heartwarming 😍
Indrani Das I must say that before the show I believed that our song would be more appreciated by the jury than by the public (you know, because people like pop dance, plus they sang in Italian etc) Instead it was the opposite 😂 and Ermal and Fabrizio always said that they wanted people to understand the meaning of the song... So I'm so happy they reached their purpose!
Someone said Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro shouted!!!!😂😂😂😂 .... what about Hungary!! .... anyway they wanted to convey a message and these message arrived. Thanks for all the votes that the italian songs received from all over Europe❤❤❤🕊🕊🇮🇹🕊🕊❤❤❤ THANK YOU❤❤
Well, I do like this voting system, where anything can happen at the end. But the juries really have to stand free from the big music companies, so they stop voting for their connections, and instead vote for the best song. Congratulations Israel!
Siete stati donati con l'ultimo posto alla presentazione. Se siate presentati al terzo-quarto-quinto, magari i risultati sarebbero stati molto differenti.
Because it's actually not political. It does mention terrorism but it's actually a song about going on with your life no matter what and having hope. It's an oda against fear and an invitation to not let bad people and bad things bring us down. It's very saddening that this song is often summarized as "the song about terrorism" only because it mentions the attaks in the begining because that's not the point. Also, the "no political songs are allowed" thing exist to ban songs that might generate a diplomatic conflict because it's lyrics attack another country and ESC was created to bring Europe together. This song does not generate tension at all with any other country so there's no reason ot should have been disqualified.
That announcement of the Swedish televote points was one of my happiest ESC moments EVER. So there is still more common sense and musical taste among the audience than I had assumed after the jury votes. Apart from that: Big thanks to the ESCUnited team for all your work and all your videos about the ESC. Good job!
Misia J. This can be called his karma. The jury in the national selection did not appreciate him very much, but by televoting he was the winner in this and last year.
Thanks ESC United for all your live streams, comments and information. Kept me company in the wee hours of the morning here in Australia. Loving your work...
Denmark was memorable and enjoyable = Top 5 with televoting. It was nice to see a Nordic country that was not trying to be perfect and slick which is rare coming from them xD. It feels more authentic and less cold :)
Germany, Austria and Czech Republic have the best songs in ESC. So happy. Mikolas is fighter from the street to BIG STAGE, very hard working, absolutely not rich and doing everything only by his own. Mikolas is totally opposite of Benjamin /conditions for growing up and etc./ and therefore people voted for Miki, I think. Thank you people, who voted for our Mikolas.❤❤❤❤
I mean Tel Aviv and Jerusalem is a 45 minute drive. So doing it in "Jerusalem" (likely in the Teddy Stadium) doesn't mean you won't get your Tel Aviv on... :-)
I'm happy that Sweden flop in the televotes ...... Because juries are always so bias every they give so high scores to them even though the song is bad
Since Netta, I have changed. I’ve begun to not feel ashamed of my body, and to celebrate who I am. I'll never be anybody's toy. Netta is a gift to the world and important for so many reasons.Thank you very much for this Netta! The more people talk about this, the faster things will change. These days Metoo, Netta and comments like mine--are all contributing to awareness and change. The goal: within a few generations, it will be obvious to kids that they can’t be someone’s human toy, and they can’t have a human toy. I was always proud to be Israeli - even more tonight. When Netta and my country Israel won, I cried and laughed and danced in my house for an hour! Hugs, Maytal. :)
@Assaf Shriki Yes I am and so are you. :) The more people talk about this, the faster things will change. These days Metoo, Netta and comments like mine--are all contributing to awareness and change. The goal: within a few generations, it will be obvious to kids that they can’t be someone’s human toy, and they can’t have a human toy.
Sweden and Australia getting FAR more points from the juries than the televoters suggests that the EBU wants to slowly turn the big 5 into the big 6 (with Sweden) and someday into the big 7 (with Australia). ONLY THIS could explain how such poor songs with mediocre vocals could have scored so many points. I don't get Austria finishing 1st with the jury, but at least the guy can sing.
Yes, I do. Rich countries who are basically paying for the whole show. That's why they are granted the free pass to the finals. Guess what: Sweden and Australia are rich countries too! The EBU wouldn't be upset to have 2 more ''sponsors'', would it?
I agree. Have you seen an acapella video of his after his victory in Sweden? They took away the sound and the backing vocalists. His voice is practically non-existent.
I think that sweden was very overrated by the jury, and greatly underrated by the televotes. If i would choose one song to listen to at home it would be dance you off considering i like that type of vibe..but the performance was too long, to repetitive dancing and i didn't like the sounds comparing it to his melodifestivalen performance..i think his voice is good so i don't understand why his backing vocals were sometimes louder than his voice. I am swedish and i think the jury was crazy to place him number 2. He should have been number 5-9 by the jury or maybee even lower considering the jury should judge voice, song and professionalism more than show, looks and dancing in my opinion. So maybee even place 9-14 from the jury and place 4-7 from the televoters, because it's easily one of the most enjoyable song to listen to, atleast according to me. I think Israel had a good song, but not a single other person i've talked to personally thought her song was good, they were like"this is a joke right, how can a joke song win?" but i mean it's mostly the chicken sounding ridiculus. Austria was my favourite. Check republic was really good but the song was a complete copy of Jason Derulos song Talk dirty to me, so i couldn't see past that. Germany was really good too, and I liked lithuania i think it was. And cyprus! It was too bad people hated swedens song or his persona or maybee they even hate sweden as a country, maybee they just liked others songs better and that isnormal ofcourse, or they are just tired of seeing sweden get a good score...which maybee is understandable...but that was insane, without the jury that would have been swedens maybe third lowest placement ever. And i don't think Benjamin deserves that. But many other contestants did good so I'll just applaud them. But it was a chock to hear the televotes, i thought sweden would end up top 10 for sure, maybee not top 5 but def top 10. On the other hand how did Moldova get so high up?? :O their song was my last one, along with slovenia and portugal. and why was Australia so low?, and Finland, i thought others would love her :P haha so random. all difference of opinion i guess. I wish for sweden to withdraw all involvement behind the scenes besides maybe financial aid for the future, i mean Christer björkman and other big names should stop being apart of it because i feel like people are really starting to hate sweden and are suspecting fowl play, which i swear that the swedes no nothing about. So yeah please just stop being involved and let sweden send contributions we want to send.
You see, I love Sweden as a country, I wanted to learn Swedish ever since I have started devouring Astrid Lindgren's books as a child. If Sweden becomes a part of a "big 6" in the future, I have no objections. But when I don't like a song, it doesn't matter where it comes from, and for me, Benjamin's song was the worst in the entire final. Had I been in Lisbon yesterday, I would have cheered with others too for his televote points. Personal tastes aside, you can't "punish" anyone on the scale of televote, you can only vote for your favourites. And Benjamin simply wasn't that favourite for enough people. (plus I guess that that super rude video of his reactions to other entries did not help either, though I would see that more reflected in the jury score, so people probably did not know about it and it is just my personal problem) As for Moldova - you could always make a case for bloc voting, I guess, but I think their staging was indeed quite original, fully embracing the idea of "ok guys, let's see what we can do with no LEDs on a super low budget". It was entertaining to me, not a Top 10 song, but I can see reasons why people would vote for it. Australia so low - again, I don't see why people should vote for it. The song is just too much naive and of a "love love peace peace" kind. I find Jess very likeable, but I guess that "people who'll vote for a sexy diva" rather opted for Eleni. Finland's quite a mystery to me as well, but it could happen due to the running order and overall great quality of the final. Unlike last year, I did enjoy about 3/4 of the songs, so I am not disappointed after all.
The song from Sweden wasnt BAD.. just nothing special either. It's like any top100 songs. Y'all basically sent the same Justin Timberlake type song twice in a row, which i guess the televoters are over with. My personal favorite was Estonia, the other people on my couch though really liked Israel, Czech and Moldova. Love from Norway :*
Thaleya1 you should listen some real music ! Its so bad that you go from Abba to some mainstream artists for me Sweden shouldnt have got any points from the jury since it had nothing special
Thank you for your response, That's how I am, when I like a song I don't care where it's from..so I completely understand and respect that Sweden was your least favorite. It was a chock for me to see that so many found it as bad as they did. ofcourse i understand that you can't really give someone a bad score deliberately in Televoting, just vote for the one you like. It clearly just means that they liked other songs better. It was just a chock to find out our score. And very disappointing and acctually insulting to see such a weird high score from the jury votes...what does that mean? I was so surprised that i started to believe the comments about sweden being overrated by the jury always etc, so i looked back 2016 and 2017 and i didn't see any big gap between the jury and televoting for sweden and one of the two years the jury vote were lower than the televote, so i don't think that's the case either. To be honest when i first heard swedens song i thought it was weak and too normal aswell, but it was a very bad melodifestivalen year this year so i thought it was the best we had. And then the song grew on me each time i heard it. I saw that rude video aswell, and it's not the personality that i have seen Benjamin have ever before and i've seen him in things since he was 10 years old so I honestly think he was trying to be extra and amuse some people in the room with him or something. And was just really rude, it was dumb to be honest. And i know he is sensitive so i can swear that he cried many times about the video after that. I didn't think Australia would win or anything but i thought it would be number 15 or something and not by the lowest of the televotes. yeah i'm not disappointed either, it was a good show!
The director of toy interviewed to an Israeli newspaper, and said that they came to Lisbon clear favorite, and suddenly all the press from all around the world didn’t fancy Netta anymore. It was like they were searching for an underdog story - a black horse that comes from nowhere to win the trophy. He also said that all the journalists adored toy at the beginning, but after two months they were searching for something new to excite them. Eleni from Cyprus was the perfect one for that. Seeing the reaction now in the video- it seems quite accurate what the director said
As a swede i will never get over this voting lol, the jury gave us hope of winning and then the public smashed our dreams haha, we back back next year and will send something on euphoria level!! 🙌🏻😁
It was a total mistake not sending Felix. Also I don't know if Sweden will be sending an Euphoria level with the current system voting with International Juries. Mello needs some changs, I hope this year was a wake up call for Björkman
nil erra the international jury has been in melfest since 2009, so theyre not the problem, i just think that we keep sending the same package and people are bored by it, this year i think benjamin was the best option, i watched with my mom and the first thing she said about felix was: omg it looks like he tries to copy salvador, and then i was like, omg we cant send him, if my mom saw it then rest of europe will too, but björkman is determined to give us a 7th victory before he resigns in 2021, and i believe in him!! This melfest year wasnt that strong, but 2016 and 17 was extremely strong, we just havent had a clear winner like måns and loreen was, but i think we get it next year, and about changes, what needs to change is how the appvoting works, if ur given the opportunity to give everyone free votes u will, so what needs to happen is that u can only like give 3 songs votes or like give 12,10,8-1 points to ur favorites, etc etc, to give more power to the public vote, cause right now its simply to even
Didrik Gustafsson I meant the International juries have so much power since 2016 with the App.. that's an issue. There's no gaps with televote. I agree what you said about the votes and the App. For example in 2017 Nano was what Swedes wanted and he couldn't even win even tho he came second juries xD I think Sweden needs to stop playing safe and trying to be perfect if you want the televote on your side cause people feel that your entries are too calculate and cold. Even Måns couldn't win the televoting. I'm not sure Bjorkman will be the one to bring you another victory.. you need someone with new ideas imo but we'll see :)
Honestly the announcement of the final couple of votes was the worst, it made the moment so underwhelming because we were all confused whether Cyprus had come second or won lol
Constantinos Christoforou She said that by accident. And it doesn't even mean anything, she said they're leading RIGHT NOW, obviously it doesn't mean anything.
9:13 hahahahaha I would have done exactly the same, that man is very handsome... but the way he saw when he realized he was holding his wrist is hilarious hahahahahaha
It's fun to hear what the Italians behind you are saying XD "Abbiamo fatto meglio di Gabbaniiii!!!!" ahahaha they can not believe that we finally arrived fifth!
Derek York : Bullshit. If Cyprus would had won, there would had been far more cheerings & celebrations in the press room. The majority of the journalists simply rooted for Cyprus to win instead!
Yael Webber : We are talking about her live performance actually... I really like her song but her live wasn't winner material at all! Cyprus live performance was much greater!
Germany did score well with the televote as well, I would have ranked it lower, but I have no objections. Jury points for Italy, Denmark and the Czech Republic though.... Robbery at its finest. 100% agreement on Sweden being overrated.
lol it took you guys too long to realise that Israel won hahahaha a simple calculation and a slip of the tongue from the host and we knew it. Netta really deserved it.
chicken noises are as good as any other noises. and you are entitled to your opinion:) but I will change my comment I don't care if any one admits it , it is my opinion:) btw I like Cyprus, she gave it what she could AhYeH
Presenters seemed a little nervous, as we all were that night. Then this can happen. Sometimes you have to make your own reality check: Are you getting carried away? I don't know if this was a joke or not. Perhaps.
I think people forget, hardcore fans watch the semi finals and then general tv audiences only watch the final. So they only hear all the songs once. Hence I think that's why Austria did so well on the night. I agree with Sweden scoring low with televotes. The stage performance was like watching a music video, you didn't see the audience until near the end. The public like seeing the crowds reactions. Again with Australia most final night audiences wonder why Australia is in it, hence they don't get the votes. I didn't mind either song. Neither my favourites though.
sd0977 berks Good explanation, only fans watch the semifinals and that's why Rybak won the 2nd semifinal, he's still quite loved among fans, not me though, all those teenagers who voted for him in 2009, are now grown adults who can afford to send many texts for him, but when it comes to the grand finale he stood no chances to win, however I admit at some point when he got 2nd in the odds I thought he was gonna snatched the victory.
NETTA💖💜💖💙💖💚💖💛💖, a gifted, super intelligent human being, an artist, a singer, WON DRAMATICALLY, UNEQUIVOCALLY, with a WONDERFUL TOP SONG !!! (time will tell, it's value in the course of years - one of THE best ever). NETTA - WON BIG TIME !!! 👍👍👍 NETTA reached 3rd place with 'sold/ political/ anti-Isarel "Judges" = who are +/- 3-5 ppl from each country, YET WHEN THE PUBLIC AT HOME - IN EVERY 43 COUNTRIES - MILLIONS OF PPL, from all over the European/ Asian/ Australia - SHE GOT THE HIGHEST EVER SCORES !!! (12 points X many many) 🙏🙏🙏 I WISH HER - ALL THE BEST IN THE WORLD : A HAPPY LIFE ✨ ALL THE BEST FROM USA 🌷
Jury: Sweden, Australia, Austria are GREAT Denmark, Italy, Ukrain SUCKS Televote: WE'DONT THINK SO! Jury: ARE YOU KIDDING US?! Televote: NON CI AVETE FATTO NIENTE! NON AVETE AVUTO NIEEEENTE! We have the Higheeeer Ground! You favorites are Under the Ladder!
Czech Republic here, I think we could have got slightly more points from the juries and we did not because, well, politics... But I am absolutely happy with our 6th place. What I can't possibly understand is jury points for Sweden. Was there some sort of a free-pot-for-everyone party on Friday?
HayashiMinoru You were SO underrated by juries which is unfair because vocals-wise and performance-wise Mikolas was way superior than both Sweden and Austria, not to mention the staging was lit, I'm happy for you guys, I would have loved to see you in sneak into the top 5 but 6th place in just your 2nd qualification means that you're an example of perseverance, hope this is the beginning of a new Eurovision era for your country, Prague 2020 sounds like beautiful 👌🏼
Thanks ESCunited guys for your awesome livestream of the votings!! And much love and thanks for all ur hard and effortless works from the last 2 months. Also very happy with the good results of Germany and Austria( very unexpected and this proof that the colour of your skin doent matter ar all!! Very Brave and i would point out again, Waylons reaction on his act with the beautiful dark Congoleze dances: "some people should be F** asheamed of their reactions" Its ALLABOARD isnt it? Congrats to Israel with such a great act as netta's Toy!! A bit shamefull that a country who want to portray diversity and equality in their ESC act, is just bombing the Hell out of areas in Gaza and the Syrian Golan heights!!!....................... Meh, this is NOT fake news, it happened this evening, as well as the terrorist stabing with one dead in Paris!! SO, are wil still are Making our Minds UP?? or are we still in the 'Land of make Believe of Toys"? Ta, cheers toda Raba, muito obrigado, Merci, Danke en Bedankt!! Here is a tale for the history books of Eurovision: last year Israel announced their termination from Eurovision and now they come back and win the whole thing! I was team Eleni all the way, but I'm pleased Netta won. See you in Israel!
They didn't announce the termination from Eurovision, but the termination of their broadcaster that had been responsible for ESC since the first Israeli participation :)
Adoro gli italiani in sottofondo! I love those italians in the background! Se leggete questo commento fatemi sapere chi siete. Piacerebbe molto anche a me poter vedere e commentare la finale in una situazione come quella
At least Eurovision pick something that might be weird but truly provocative original. And something that it's ready for. I know lots of people are saying Eleni or the second chance Bulgaria 2016 with fiery touches entry deserved it, but the Eurovision has always been about the different and unique, and that's what Israel did. Congrats team Israel!
