I just prefer this because we would have an even more epic moment with Norway. Ik it would have been obvious with Netherlands but Televoting winners deserve their moment
New system might provide a more exciting show, but it completely disregards who the televote believed in. In this case, no one remembered Italy getting 2nd or Russia getting 3rd (or acknowledging San Marino getting 10th in televote), and definitely not Norway being Europe's favourite of the night. What do we left with? North Macedonia flopped followed by 'Sweden 93 points' smh
So what? Why are making it as if televotong is the most important factor? It's not, it's a 50 50 formula and I don't care of San Marino was top 10 in televotong or whatever.
If public’s favourite one is also one of juries’ fav, then in the old system, it would still be exiting. So it’s hard to tell which one is better based on just a single year. But I agree that entries received top televote should be easily known by the audience.
They also did North Macedonia dirty. Thanks to the stupid mistake in the voting, they didn’t get their jury winner moment and that’s something that won’t probably happen again to them in a long time.
Erez Tal: Moving on to the United Kingdom. And the public points to the United Kingdom are… 3 points. Germany: Ha, ha, ha! Bar Refeali: And we move on. We go to Germany. Germany, you received from the public votes… I’m sorry. 0 points. Germany: WHAT?! United Kingdom: Ha!
3 countries left: Italy gets their points, so exactly in this moment it was absolutely save, The Netherlands would have won -> The Netherlands get more points than Italy -> Norway NEVER get more than 400 points So thanks for changing the system :)
in the new system it was clear that netherlands have won when they got their points. because then only 151 points were left to share between two countries so even if one of those got zero, 151 wasnt enough to catch up...
Thank you for producing this, well done. Furthermore I notice you've started with the corrected jury totals and positions, and ended up with the corrected combined totals and positions.
Erez Tal: 0 points to Germany. 3 points to United Kingdom. 7 points to Czech Republic. 13 points to Belarus. 20 points to Malta. 24 points to Greece. 32 points to Cyprus. 35 points to Israel. Bar Refeali: 38 points to France. 47 points to Albania. 48 points to Estonia. 51 points to Denmark. 53 points to Spain. 54 points to Serbia. 58 points to North Macedonia. 59 points to Slovenia.
If the gap between jury’s vote and televote wasn’t that big, it would be much exiting in the 2016 system. However, the juries definitely have their unique taste lol
EBU was lucky that this year the system they used this year was the only one that would make it exciting... the 2012+ system NL would have even won with higher margin. the 2016(in this video) Norway must have gotten 450+ points(which is almost impossible). So good for them :P
@@voloshanca If that's really it then I guess San Marino really was the 10th best entry of the night lol Israel should've placed third to last, just above Germany and The UK
@@icklokore9230 True, but that required math, and not everybody likes to do math. With the old system, you would not need math to see that Norway needed like 400 points to catch up, which they were never going to get.
@@capserino234 yes you could... If you add up all the televotes given to all countries except for the last country and subtract the answer from 2378 (that is the number of countries [41] multiplied by 58 [12 points + 10 points + 8 points + 7 points + ..... till 1 point] , you will find out the number of televotes that that country has actually gotten
@@jochemvanhees actually it was possible for them to get over 400 points as the maximum amount of points that one can get is 480 (this year)... However it is very unlikely to achieve the maximum amount.
@@escthingsz i mean theoretically yes but practically no. I doubt that it would ever happen that one country got more than 400 points from the televote.
The new system does bring excitement, but the public winner is lost in the blink of an eye. Televoters do want to see the ones they voted the most. This is why I still prefer the old 2016 type of announcement - each winner (jury, televote) gets known equally.
Never watch this biased shit nowadays since Wogan left. Way too political. Good songs get shit points from countries that have a grievance with them ......... it's no more a genuine song-contest than flying in the air. 'Suppose it's why they started telly-voting, so folk could actually judge a song on it's merit, and not from a political angle.
The only difference is the way that they announce the televoting results. In the old system presentation begins with country which gets the lowest number of points from televoting, no matter how much points it has from the juries. In the new system announcing begins with the country which is last after jury voting.
