Mary Hopkin did not like her song , but still managed to come second. She is such a lovely singer. I am truly amazed at Dana who was so good for such a young - everything was there , voice, spontaneous feeling interpretation of the song. Her gestures and body language were much more natural and comfortable than some of the adult singers surrounding her. The song was charming and she deserved to win. I was a bit too young to see this at the time so it is good to see it now. Thank you for posting it

1970 was a rather odd and, how do I put this, 'diminutive' year. What with only 12 countries competing, the show barely crossed the 1 hour mark, but to do that, NOS created the postcards preceding a song, which became a tradition very quickly. Dutch presenters apparently didn't feel like doing any more presenting than they had to, as Willy Dobbe's introduction was the shortest ever, literally just presenting the contest. That just bordered on lazy. While some of the 12-strong field was rather forgettable, it's countered by some evergreen classics, in particular the top-3 of Ireland, the UK and Germany (I also really like Belgium's song by Jean Vallée).

I like the futuristic design, it is such a differance to 1966 p.ex.. Dana is a chatolic hater and so I do not like this simple song. Katja from Germany should have won in this year!

I remember, that I have worked in 1997 for an entertaiment TV program. At lunch time a very naive woman around 25 years was upset that two gay men were invited to this show, She was a student and I was in distance to her , cause she behaved mostly like a stupid girl, not a woman. She told me that God hates gays and that we should kill them, because she has to think so, as a christian. I was shocked completly. Later, she got a well payed job, because a friendly gay man supported her. Sure he does not know her aggressiv soul, poor boy! So be aware of girls like Dana! The want to kill you (maybe ).😨
