At EV Power we are just introducing the ME1718 closed frame motor into our range. This is a radial flux, sealed (IP65) air cooled motor. We are also introducing a number of new throttle types that work with our Sevcon BorgWarner Gen4 Inverter range. Rod is just demo-ing the impressive power of this small package.

I believe Motenergy has a specific motor for that, I have one (don't recall the model number but it's like a ME1616) with a Sevcon Size6 80V in my ridiculously overpowered golf cart. It can do wheelstands on the tarmac ;)

I am working with the same kind of setup. But I've been getting a lot of faults in the sevcon controller. (and a very severy one - like overcurrent). Hopefully, I will be solving it in the next couple of days. Great job guys ;)

what ever happened to the ME1616 mated to the Morris Minor gearbox project? was this motor a suitable match for a car of that physical size and weight?

I realize the video has lots of noise from the belt and regen motor. Would you subjectively rate the ME1718 and 1716 as much quieter than the open frame motors? I have an ME1305 in my boat and it howls around 1kW.

Correct about the belt noise, the video amplifies it. Generally speaking closed frame motors are quieter than the open frame motors, partly because there is no fan on the drive shaft. In an application all the Motenergy motors we use a quiet, but not totally silent.
